As part of Sonic's 31st anniversary this week, Sega held Sonic Station livestream celebrating the launch of Sonic Origins.
During the broadcast, Sega also announced a year-long collaboration with the Hololive Virtual YouTuber (and Sonic fan) Inugami Korone - titled “Sonikoro 2022". She's now got her own special Sonic-themed outfit, and in addition to this, it's been revealed she'll also be providing voice over work for the Japanese dub of the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie.
It's unknown at this stage what her exact role is on the movie, but for now, here's a look at her new outfit:
Sega's own VTuber crew also made an appearance during the broadcast. The newest addition Amy even got some time in the spotlight. You can see how the events unfolded in the video above.

Korone's great. Very enthusiastic, loves to get as invested as possible with what she's playing.
There may be a few people who still don't "get" vtubers but take this for what it is: A videogame fan who is simply using another means of an online avatar to present themselves online just as we do with still icons.
She's grown incredibly close to the Sonic community since she started her journey with the classic games, I'm happy for her.
I've seen people mention her but apart from that I don't follow her or really know anything about her. Good luck to her though.
Smart plan to get weebs to watch Sonic the Hedgehog 2 either again or for the first time by adding a super popular Vtuber.

This is really cool, I've seen Korone's Sonic videos, and they were fun to watch. Sega's official Sonic channel even did a video with her talking about her experience with Sonic last year.

@SteamEngenius I don't get it either. But a lot of them get paid doing it via fan support. Beats flipping burgers, so more power to them.

I adore Korone-chan! She was my introduction to hololive and Vtubers, and I still watch her whenever I can. I have to type with my nose now, since she took all my yubis

I always thought the culture around Vtubers was a little weird (it reminds me of Japan's "Idol culutre" which I'm not a fan of) but Korone is a genuine retro game fan, and I do appreciate that she can bring in a large audience while streaming strange or obscure retro games.
I had to do multiple double takes on that headline just to make sure I wasn't still asleep.
I may not watch the more 'mainstream' VTubers but I do know about Korone and I have to agree that she is indeed very cute.

Great choice, her Sonic playthroughs were enjoyable. I always love her enthusiasm and tenacity. Nintendo should collab with her for Kirby.

Wow, it's surprising that the second movie still isn't out yet in Japan, since this news basically made me remember that it was still coming over there.
Personally not a fan of this "V-Tubing" trend, but if she makes people happy, then more power to her
@SteamEngenius k the FANDOM part, that can get weird, but as a (kind of) v tuber myself, I see the appeal behind becoming one
I still don't get the appeal of V-Tubers but it's great for those who are fans of both, Sonic and the V-Tuber, I suppose
