@NintendoFan64 @Wexter Roy released in Smash about a week before the Japanese release of Fates, while I'm guessing the developers knew about it beforehand I'd say Roy didn't get supported for one or more of the following reasons: They were unsure if Roy would get an amiibo at first
Fates was already too far in development to add him in
The amiibo released too far out to be of relavance since it was about 9 months between Fates' release in Japan and the amiibo's release
A possible design conflict between using the Awakening Roy design, the Sword of Seals original, or the Smash 4 design that incorporates elements of both
They wanted to minimize the backlash they'd get for including amiibo support (since at the time, all the FE amiibos were near impossible to find)
They're going to wait till Corrin's amiibo releases and patch support for both of them together such that hackers can't access the Corrin amiibo content before it releases
Not sure which if any of these are true, this is just my logic. I hope that last one is true and we get them patched into Fates when Corrin releases.
@ReshiramZekrom I think this comes from the combination of the fact that those who've found the Mystery Dungeon exploit haven't been as public about it as these other ones, the involvement of The Pokemon Company and the price. But the price isn't preventing it because Nintendo wants money, more cause $40 is a lot steeper than $10-20 titles these exploits have been found on so far so people may not be willing to drop that much just to run homebrew.
@AlexSora89 Yeah, and being honest it seems like these changes don't satisfy to politically correct either. Back when Fates came out I picked up Birthright and some friends got angry calling me homophobic over that one support in Conquest. Pretty much when they see something they don't like, it's bad and done regardless of changes or context.
@AlexSora89 I think you had some good ideas for tracks, but I don't think Nintendo would go for Sunset Wilds due to today's political culture and the Shy Guys, maybe if they get edited to generic Shy Guys it would work out.
@rjejr I think Superchargers had the generic box art similar to the PS4/XB1 version before the amiibo crossover announcement. I'd like another amiibo crossover, but the only characters that I think would work on paper are Fox, Yoshi, Pokemon, and Animal Crossing animals
@HeroponRiki You misread Alex's comment before those played, that little reel was franchises that HAVEN'T declined over the years to put some happiness in an otherwise gloomy video.
@Bolt_Strike A lot of Hong Kong (and I believe other parts of China) are also concerned about names being different in the chinese version ie the Pikachu example given in @Humphries90 's comment, although I believe they just called him Pikachu in China rather than either of those more phonetically correct names. Basically they learned the names one way and this new localization changes more than 100 Pokemon's names and that's what seems to be the fan's issue.
@Nintendude789 @Wexter Pretty much what @nacho_chicken said. However I agree with you guys that it is a little excessive relying on these types of things and you can win without them in competitive play.
Am I the only one who saw this and got bummed that Bayonetta (or like Rodin or Jeanne) didn't cameo in Bayonetta's clip? I thought that was cool when Chrom cameoed in Robin's and thought that would make perfect sense.
@coolaggro Tourney stuff for smash 4 is typically 1v1 in 2 or 3 stock. Also @ThomasBW84 , there's something up with the stream since just the audio right now unless that's how they meant it to be.
@Morph I haven't got the answer as to why, but when I used to work at Gamestop, pretty much every top-mid tier release would start coming back in droves from people who bought it 3-4 weeks after release so that's my guess.
Sorry if this has already been answered (don't feel like reading >300 comments), but how is this news? Pretty much every game period from Mario Kart to Uncharted and everything in between typically starts flooding the used market shelves of Gamestop and the like after about 3-4 weeks after release. Even the biggest AAA titles have this happen to them, so why would this be a big deal?
@Bass_X0 Forgot to mention that you likely can't get the half price deal through retailers, you have to go through the in game "Explore Fates" option in the main menu and use either your credit card or eshop credit.
@Bass_X0 Yes you can. Once you buy the first game at full price, physical or digital, you can get the other 2 as add on dlc for half price. Just note that the add on versions are pretty small (about 800 blocks each) and can't be played without your original cartridge.
I really hope this becomes popular, 1v1 Smash 4 has kinda gotten stale for me, partly because of the fact that 2 stock games make them too quick or force people to be extremely campy and because of the lack of stages (seriously there's almost as many stages as there are characters and only 6 or 7 are used). This seems to fix both of those problems.
@Vandy I've presented my argument, points evidence etc. But long story short, there's no point in this argument anymore and I'm out of this talk. she won and she's been out for months, if you don't like her don't buy her, that's the best advice I can give
@RealPoketendoNL @Vandy going off RealPoketendo's point, there were a lot of people on the internet asking for Bayonetta pre and post disc release, but knew the chances were slim since age rating stuff. And on every fan poll I checked (about 20 or so), there was only a list of a certain amount of options, like Inklings K.Rool and the like, and Bayonetta was almost never on them. Also Roy was added before the ballot
@Vandy Sorry about two of the links, I put commas to separate them but that accidentally put them in the links. http://sourcegaming.info/2015/12/23/496/http://sourcegaming.info/2015/07/09/megaman-villager-wiifit/ Also in regards to Marth and the like, Roy in Melee and Lucina in Smash 4 (along with all other clones in both games) were added simply due to the fact that they had extra development time and compared to the other fighters, a clone takes significantly less time. Roy was brought back to Smash 4 since he was the most requested cut Melee character after Mewtwo.
@Vandy I'd like to refer yo to these famitsu columns translated by source gaming: http://sourcegaming.info/2015/09/26/sakurai-on-character-choices/,http://sourcegaming.info/2015/12/23/496/,http://sourcegaming.info/2015/07/09/megaman-villager-wiifit/ They explain a lot of the reasoning behind Sakurai's character decisions, including Corrin and Bayonetta. Sakurai had his own doubts about there being to many FE characters with Corrin, and also wasn't sure if Bayonetta could work while maintaining the E10+ rating (or international equivalent). And I personally believe, since there's absolutely no source that can prove or disprove the results of the official ballot, that most of the characters that people expected didn't do as well as the internet made them out to be since in a democratic process, a silent majority will always beat a vocal minority.
@Tigerfan810 Mario Kart probably isn't the best comparison since there isn't any tweeks to the core gameplay or character/vehicle attributes after launch
I kinda didn't want a patch for 2 reasons: 1. I don't want Pikachu to get nerfed and 2. I think that it's ridiculous that people are/were constantly complaining about how they want Bayonetta nerfed (and Sheik and Diddy when they were dominant) instead of just learning the matchup since now there's literally hundreds of videos showing people how to beat her various tricks. You know what people did with Fox's annoying stuff in Melee? Instead of begging for a patch (and there technically was a "patched" version of Melee in the form of the PAL version which is in fact more balanced) they learned what they could do in terms of beating him.
I just hope Fire Emblem's like most of the F2P games from Nintendo (not all, Pokemon Picross annoyed me for essentially forcing me to grind for weeks if I didn't want to spend money) in that I can play the game start to end in a reasonable amount of time if I don't pay into it.
I figured I should ask a general question regarding the new bundle in Europe. Is the Special edition more than just buying the 3 games separately at the Europeon msrp? If it is, like the US special edition was, I don't see much of a reason to flip about the price since having all 3 games would come out to be the same again, and looks like you guys would get it all for 5 pounds less. That was the logic I took with not being able to get the SE of Fates in the US
@xVAKAR1ANx It actually doesn't take up too much space if you have a physical cart of Birthright or Conquest. The biggest download is an initial download of Birthright or Conquest w/o a cart (about 15800 blocks which is a little under 2 gb). And since the other paths mostly have different cutscenes and map layouts while reusing the engine, models, etc, it's a lot smaller downloading the other games if you already have one (Conquest and Revelation each took about 850 blocks as add ons for my physical copy of Birthright)
@CapricornDavid Revelation reuses most of the assets (models game engine etc) as the other 2, so it only adds the new maps, dialogue etc and took about 800 blocks when you already have 1 cart or the other, as will buying the other version
@joealejos There's a "recommended games" section of the eshop that has a similar image to the humble bundle one and has the games in the bundle and more. People are guessing games in the recommended section but not currently part of the bundle will be the ones added to it.
@xPH03N1Xx86 @Aqueous Yeah it's the Memories of Foam series of maps. Which is a side story "4th path" wherein the children need to step in to save the world after the avatar took the path of Revelation, but the avatar and co ultimately failed in the end.
@Vandy @BinaryFragger @jos Thank you all, I decided to bite for around $10 (the average is around $9.50 at the moment). And I have another follow up question: Do we get the other games when they're available if we bite early? I'll be fine either way, I just want to know.
Quick question, are these all given as 1 big code on each system or do we just get a bunch of codes for each of the games? I already have Rhythm Thief and the $13+ games, and I'd like to get the rest of the games but don't want to end up stuck with a code I can't use since i already have a few of the games.
I said this when the Diddy problems happened and I feel now's a good time to say it again as it still doesn't make sense to me: Pikachu is the best in 64, people complain that he's broken, not fun to play against, calling for bans etc.
MK is the best in Brawl, people complain that he's broken not fun to play against calling for bans etc.
Bayonetta is supposedly (hasn't been out long enough to agree) the best in Smash 4, people complain that she's broken not fun to play against calling for bans etc.
Fox is the best in Melee, people seem to be fine with that.
Is it really that hard to learn 1 matchup in every game but Melee? sheesh and a lot of the biggest complainers of Bayo and the others were Melee players as well.
I'd buy a Smash one if there was a bigger one, for like 10 or 15. I have like 30 of them and I know asking for 1 for all of them would be excessive, but if there's 1 that could display 10 or so I'd feel happy in showing off that much of my collection.
@GrizzlyArctos My guess is either a single episode for each of the 3 days for a Case (Investigation and Trial), or give each section of each day it's own episode. Given the first case was just 1 episode for 1 Trial (which was the only day and event for that case) both ways make sense as of now.
@NintyMan Reshiram will probably get a nerf to damage, range, and/or charge time since I've heard quite a few complaints on youtube about how strong it is.
@NintyMan Reshiram will probably get a nerf to damage, range, and/or charge time since I've heard quite a few complaints on youtube about how strong it is.
@BulbasaurusRex You'll need an offensive support to set up, then combo off of then finish him off yourself since you can't die to chip damage or supports in Pokken
@Seacliff Pokken got 3rd in the Europeon multiplatform sales (ie ps4/xb1 versions combined) and 5th in the single platform sales (ie ps4 and xb1 versions as separate entities). NL reported on it a few days ago. I don't know US numbers since I don't have time to check many sites and NL never reports US numbers
@RR529 Your not the only Cruz person, he looks like he'd be a lot better than the other 3. @YoshiTails How could they have gotten Trumped if there's no ledges on the Punch Out Stage?
@rjejr That's actually a really good idea, Pokemon has had that since Black and White, and I'm kinda surprised TPC didn't make Nintendo/BN put it in. I'd like it so I can quit out if I have somewhere else to go/something else to do.
@rjejr There actually is a NA kiosk demo at some Wii U stations across retailers in the US, it also in part depends on the fact that certain stores of the different chains can have lazy people not update the kiosk. For example I demoed Pokken at my nearest Target yesterday while my gamestop next door had all the ads but didn't update their system.
@MarinoKadame Well it dpends on the person how complex a fighting game is, I know Street Fighter players who find all the mechanics of competitive Smash to be overwelming as an example. @Ryu_Niiyama @Krankor You can do LAN with either the ethernet adapter or just having both systems logged onto the same wifi network. Serebii has a pretty good guide for all of it. http://serebii.net/pokken/lanbattle.shtml
@DarkKirby I don't know if the trainers got early copies, but all the trainers except for ESAM, Nairo, and DKWill were in the Pokken invitational that was part of last year's Pokemon World Championship, so they have at least some experience with the game.
@Xenocity Glad to hear I'm not the only one dealing with RNG bull in Fates. I got fed up and switched to casual when playing Birthright because towards the end I would do well on chapter 24 and the exact scenario happened after the rest of my startegy worked: I have a 99% hit chance and 45% crit rate, it misses. CPU soldier has an 11% hit chance and a 2% crit chance, gets the crit, hits me, and my guy dies. It happened about 5 or 6 times before I just quit.
@CTMike I think those are the actual Junpei, Akane, Phi and Sigma from 999 and VLR since they all seem to be a bit younger then their VLR versions, the former 2 look in between their ages from 999 and VLR, and Zero Time Dilemma takes place in between 999 and VLR plot wise.
@Spoony_Tech My easiest to find source is Nintendo's official site for Razor's edge, as Nintendo only gives games it publishes their own sites. http://ninjagaiden3.nintendo.com/ I also have a boxed copy that shows Ninty as the publisher, but I don't know how to put pictures in comments here. I had others, but I couldn't find them quick enough given I have a quick errand and their ~4 years old. And BTW, the ported versions of Razor's Edge just came day 1 with all the content added as free update dlc to the Wii U on disc.

Pikachu is the best in 64, people complain that he's broken, not fun to play against, calling for bans etc.

@BulbasaurusRex You'll need an offensive support to set up, then combo off of then finish him off yourself since you can't die to chip damage or supports in Pokken
Re: Pokkén Tournament Beats Digimon to Number One in Japan and Boosts Wii U Sales
Re: Video: Watch the Leading US Presidential Candidates Battle It Out in Super Smash Bros.
@RR529 Your not the only Cruz person, he looks like he'd be a lot better than the other 3.
@YoshiTails How could they have gotten Trumped if there's no ledges on the Punch Out Stage?
Re: Pokkén Tournament Punishes Players Who Rage Quit
@rjejr That's actually a really good idea, Pokemon has had that since Black and White, and I'm kinda surprised TPC didn't make Nintendo/BN put it in. I'd like it so I can quit out if I have somewhere else to go/something else to do.
Re: Pokkén Tournament Demo Comes Out Fighting On The European Wii U eShop
@rjejr There actually is a NA kiosk demo at some Wii U stations across retailers in the US, it also in part depends on the fact that certain stores of the different chains can have lazy people not update the kiosk. For example I demoed Pokken at my nearest Target yesterday while my gamestop next door had all the ads but didn't update their system.
Re: LEGO Marvel's Avengers Season Ticket Goes Big With New Levels and Characters
After what happened with Arkham Origins, I'll wait until the content is actually out before comitting to the season pass.
Re: Review: Pokkén Tournament (Wii U)
@MarinoKadame Well it dpends on the person how complex a fighting game is, I know Street Fighter players who find all the mechanics of competitive Smash to be overwelming as an example.
@Ryu_Niiyama @Krankor You can do LAN with either the ethernet adapter or just having both systems logged onto the same wifi network. Serebii has a pretty good guide for all of it. http://serebii.net/pokken/lanbattle.shtml
Re: Nintendo Introduces Its Trainers and Fighters for the Pokkén Tournament Early Access Competition
@DarkKirby I don't know if the trainers got early copies, but all the trainers except for ESAM, Nairo, and DKWill were in the Pokken invitational that was part of last year's Pokemon World Championship, so they have at least some experience with the game.
Re: Editorial: Accessibility Through Optional 'Invincibility' Buffs Can Only Be a Positive for Nintendo
@Xenocity Glad to hear I'm not the only one dealing with RNG bull in Fates. I got fed up and switched to casual when playing Birthright because towards the end I would do well on chapter 24 and the exact scenario happened after the rest of my startegy worked:
I have a 99% hit chance and 45% crit rate, it misses.
CPU soldier has an 11% hit chance and a 2% crit chance, gets the crit, hits me, and my guy dies. It happened about 5 or 6 times before I just quit.
Re: Zero Time Dilemma Aiming to Resolve All Series Mysteries and Tackle 'Extreme' Scenes
Re: Ubisoft Is Trying To Quell Beyond Good And Evil 2 NX Rumours
@Spoony_Tech My easiest to find source is Nintendo's official site for Razor's edge, as Nintendo only gives games it publishes their own sites. http://ninjagaiden3.nintendo.com/ I also have a boxed copy that shows Ninty as the publisher, but I don't know how to put pictures in comments here. I had others, but I couldn't find them quick enough given I have a quick errand and their ~4 years old. And BTW, the ported versions of Razor's Edge just came day 1 with all the content added as free update dlc to the Wii U on disc.
