@Quizler Smash Meta Knight most likely got discontinued for the Kirby line Meta Knight since all the smash versions of Mario were discontinued when the Mario line started. Though Kirby Meta Knight has been relatively common
I remember getting the original SMT4 just for the club nintendo deal with Fire Emblem and I really ended up enjoying it. That being said given my limited funds, I'll have to wait for a sale on this one.
@Espurr We know it gets Counter and Midday Lycanroc doesn't, that's about as far as we know moves wise. Until further notice, it doesn't have anything unique to it.
@IceClimbers You're right, I forgot about that, but is the 1 time Baton Pass boost worth your Z-move slot? That will probably end up being the deciding factor in Eevee's usage from here on, though that'll also depend on how strong/useful Z-moves are as a whole. On top of that I believe Smogon bans Baton Pass with Speed boosts, so legality may vary.
@DarthNocturnal If it is it probably won't help it much outside Little Cup. If Eevee were able to use it without the Z-crystal requirement, it would help it a lot since it could stack with a eviolite for a semi bulky pokemon with decent other stats, not to mention it locks you out of other Z-moves for the rest of the battle. As it stands it might help Eevee gain a small niche, but it won't be super viable, kinda like what Light Ball did for Pikachu.
I think this is safe to say this is essentially the 3 years between origins (aka red/blue) and gold and silver after the gen 1 stories since for all we know red saw/caught all 800+ pokemon (counting the sun and moon ones) during that time and he traveled to all 6 current regions (and likely Alola). Also of note is sometimes Red's Pikachu is out of a Pokeball and isn't at others, so perhaps one of these episodes might show Red bonding with his Pikachu and explaining why it surpassed Charizard in power.
I'd say it's probably a better safe than sorry issue since if this goes through, an xbox or 360 emulator on ps or nintendo systems (or other systems on each other period) becomes more or less fair game for people to emulate and I'm sure Microsoft doesn't want that. Kinda like how fan projects based on Ninty games tend to get the plug pulled before a bad one gets released and gets to stay out.
@ironside1911 Nintendo actually owned the majority (i think it was about 60-70%) and their selling that majority while keeping 10% for themselves. So they'll still make some money off the team, but not as much as they were.
Given how Conquest ended up, I think a Pokemon x Fire Emblem game could've been really good, but having 2 Pokemon SRPG spinoffs might've been a bit of overkill. I hope the developers get another chance at this, as these are my 2 favorite franchises.
@Nintendoforlife Not to be snobby, but EA actually doesn't make Just Dance, Ubisoft does. Just figured that would be good to mention since it reinforces your point
@CosmoXY While cheaters don't get banned completely out of the game, they can get banned from online multiplayer for bringing hacked Pokemon into it. That and hacked Pokemon are unable to be transported between generations via bank
@Anti-Matter idk how much hype they'll make, but I'm sure they'll make a lot of people salty. Animal Crossing will make those who wanted a Wii U entry salty, and Fire Emblem somehow seems to just generate salt from the games, localization, Smash reps, and everything else you can think of.
@rjejr Don't forget Sonic 2017 and Dragon Quest 10 are coming to NX as well. Though ironically we have 3 times as many 3rd party NX games as first party, and something like a snap sequel will help
Reading the Alola form descriptions, I'm now more confused as to why Cubone didn't get an alola form. You'd think the Cubone would need to adapt to not get killed by the grass predators from a young age. Also, Raichu becomes a psychic type because it ate too many pancakes? What kind of explanation is that?
@Whopper744 Strategically speaking, megas gave viability to weaker Pokemon and for some stronger ones, added new ways to use them and could lead to mindgames in how you'll use them them. Using Charizard as an example, you would always want to mega evolve it since it's base form isn't super good, but it does provide the mix up of going for Charizard X, who's physically focused offense wise but could also run a mixed offense or defensive set due to his new typing and stats, or Charizard Y, who can spam stupidly powerful Fire Blasts and Solarbeams by boosting his Special atack and bringing out the sun. Both mega Zards would also theoretically have different teammates as Y would benefit from having sun focused teammates which can help elimate his weaknesses, while X would have teammates focused on eliminating physical walls like Swampert. Other Pokemon, like Alakazam and Gengar have similar desgin variety only the difference is between the base form and freeing up the mega slot for someone else on the team, or boosting them and forgoing an extra item boost for the specific mega benefits.
@edgedino 1. While we don't know if we can find the old forms of Pokemon in the wild in Alola (pure speculation sugessts that probably not given the text describing the new forms was them adapting to the Alola climate) we'll at least be able to transfer them from gen 6 and vc gen 1 (since all new forms so far are gen 1 pokemon) 2. No idea how many, my guess is they'll pick a few popular Pokemon like Ninetails, a few Pokemon that fit the tropical theme of Alola like Exeggutor, and a few out of the blue ones like Sandshrew to give new forms. 3. Who knows? So far we've mainly been shown one island and a lot of Pokemon, if they decide to showcase the others we'll find out soon enough.
@DarkKirby My guess is that's a balancing technique to prevent certain Pokemon from becoming OP with their Z-moves and/or putting them in really bad situations, either in game or competitively. For the former, letting Pikachu hold a Light Ball and access the Z-move means you'd have an easy to acquire early game Pokemon that's as strong as standard Mewtwo that can wreck havoc on your opponents strongest Pokemon so long as it can move first, which would make the main campaign really easy. Certain Megas could also theoretically abuse them in competitive play in the same sense. For the latter, having Z-moves would really hurt Pokemon that rely on choice items since they'd be forced to switch immeadiately after since they couldn't use their Z-move again. Though now that I think about it, this means Mega Rayquaza is gonna be even more broken this Gen since it'll be the only Mega with access to a Z-move.
@ghasfarost Not sure when, but Darkrai (as well as Scizor and Empoleon) will eventually come to Wii U since they were initially found by datamining the Wii U version. My guess is either a week or 2 after the arcade, or they'll launch one at a time at the arcade, then all 3 at once on Wii U when the last one launches.
@Snow-Dust My guess for Empoleon being the water starter pick is that they wanted to throw people off since Greninja (because he's literally everywhere Pokemon wise at the moment), Swampert (because we have Sceptile and Blaziken already), and Blastoise (since we have the Red and Yellow mascots, and Gen 1 is typically well known) would all be pretty predictable for the reasons I mentioned.
That leaves Feraligatr, Empoleon, and Samurott for a more "surprising" water starter choice. Problem with Feraligatr and Samurott is they both become slightly redundant with Suicune in since he's a popular gen 2 water type (like Feraligatr) and a quadreped (like Samurott). Process of elimination leaves us with Empoleon.
I'm not gonna pretend this was the developer's logic, this was just the reasoning I figured when Scizor and the others were leaked.
Pokken, in my opinion, was the best game to watch at evo. The players showed a wide variety of characters and playstyles, and cemented the game's great balance to me since even the Pokemon that are seen poorly (like Machamp) were taking a fair number of sets on stream. My only real complaint was that Smash and the rest of the FGC took out their problems with each other on Pokken at times for seemingly no good reason. For example Smash people complained that it got a better timeslot for finals, and other games complained Pokken was taking the spot of anohter entry in their preferred game (ie SF4) or having a full day of Pokken stream take away from (Insert Game Here) when SF5 and Smash 4 also had dedicated streams until their finals. I understand Pokken is new, but given most games were annoyed with each other, it really wasn't necessary to suck another game's community into it just because it's new. Other than that, EVO was great
@EatMyMoney After the 3 we know of, there'd still be one spot open on the roster, so it's still possible. But then we'd have another situation similar to the lack-of-Swampert deal given we have Blaziken and Sceptile, we'd have Greninja and Braixen, but no one to represent the Chespin line.
@EternalComposer @PokeMelon123 Scizor will probably be next given the datamine found roughly equal amounts of info for both him and Darkrai. Empoleon while more likely, will probably be after Scizor and maybe 1 more addition after Empoleon.
There's one simple solution, people could stop being dumb and listen to that big warning on that loading screen about staying alert and paying attention to surroundings; as well as common sense like don't be on your phone while driving and the like that seems to get forgotten with this game.
@C-Olimar Pokken DLC is already confirmed to be a thing since a new fighter is being revealed tomorrow (or in the next few hours since it should be the 14th in Japan soon if not already). The new Pokemon's technically only being added for the arcade version as of right now when it drops next week, but I'd guess after a week or 2 of testing and tweaking in arcades, it'll get added to the Wii U version. See this link https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2016/07/a_new_fighter_is_due_to_be_announced_for_pokken_tournament_on_july_14th
I got into amiibo to get all the Pokemon, but I ended up getting a lot more on the way between Pikachu and Mewtwo. I thought the Kirby line would get me into it again since I only got Kirby from the Smash line, but it didn't. But rip my wallet if Pokemon figures become a thing
Well this whole situation with this game has gone from bad to worse. https://youtu.be/iNdrOZ98pSg. Figured I'd link it in case @NintendoLife wanted to do anything on it
@sillygostly @Gridatttack They confirmed at e3 that they'll add them region by region after there's been enough fiddling with the servers, game mechanics, and the like.
@HyrulianOfHyrule Unfortunately we likely won't get any more fire starters since we have half of them in one stage or another on the main roster and making a fifth of the whole roster.
@IceClimbers Assuming we're going off those, we can eliminate Empoleon for now since I believe he only had one attack file found in the data whereas Scizor and Darkrai had 3 or 4 each so those 2 probably have had more work on them, so one of them will likely come first, followed by the other, then Empoleon, and assuming they'll use all the space on the current CSS one more Pokemon after that.
@Trinexx @sonicmeerkat China almost never enforces IP and copyright policy for foreign IP and when they do, pirates don't get affected too much. Yet Chinese companies and IP are protected like no tomorrow in China, and that's why Nintendo, among many others in various branches of the entertainment industry, are hesitant to bring their ideas to the Chinese market
@StephenYap3 If you're looking into the Zero games, I'd suggest getting the eshop version of VLR unless you can get a good deal on a physical copy since there's a bug that can corrupt saves but was patched only on the eshop version
@Gerbwmu @Bunkerneath I believe the main reasons Rare Replay hasn't (and likely won't) come to Wii U is because some of the games were from the xbox Era and Nintendo likely doesn't want to promote rival brands since MS could likely use a U version to bring people to an xbox with new entries after rare replay
@PlywoodStick Having gotten through chapter 2 in TMS, I definitely agree with you on Nintendo's avoiding social commentary. While I've been indifferent to or in favor of the past localization changes due to my personal beliefs and/or the fact that they didn't impact the main game, I do think people are a little more justified in crying foul on the changes this time. Some of the changes now don't work as well in plot context such as in the chapter 2 dungeon where the boss makes a comment about how Tsubasa's outfit along with her poses are suggestive and inappropriate yet those were changed so they weren't, and it also doesn't work along with (from my observations and interpretation of the chapter) the chapter's general themes of Tsubasa learning to feel more comfortable in her body and commentating on society's constant objectification of idols. If they're gonna make developers recode outfit changes, they can afford to rewrite the script so that it makes sense with those changes.
And the canned dlc literally doesn't make sense since it would literally be extra money for Nintendo for people who want it.
@Luffymcduck customs were off, so it was vanilla Palutena. All of CEO Smash 4 wise has been surprise upsets from zeros loss to Trela being taken out by some Jr main and more
@jimi I think the Wii U version was more stable since the developer, WB Montreal, were the ones that ported Arkham City to Wii U and added the new stuff so they had experience making Batman work on the system. Which admittedly kinda annoyed me afterwards given they cut out most of the cool gamepad stuff that made the Wii U version of Arkham City the best of the many
Well there goes any hope of them getting money out of me for this game, if you release a game that can brick consoles, you don't deserve any support whatsoever, post release patch or not.
@8itmap_k1d If the NX were to have Wii U backwards compatibilty (not saying it will), it would have to have Wiimote support since some Wii U games require it
@PK_Boss11 Hate to be the bringer of bad news, but with the March 2017 release plans for NX, there's absolutely zero chance of FF7 remake being in the launch lineup unless it launches on PS4 and PC fairly soon since Sony helped fund it under the terms that it would be console exclusive (ie every system but PC) to PS4 for at least 6 months, though it might be a year or permanent exclusivity, not fully sure. I do know it'll be PS4 exclusive for at least the first few months and those months being over before NX launches are slim to none since we don't have a release date yet.
@Piersen A few members of the Great Ace Attorney team just recently told some sites (I found it on gamnesia) that due to "certain circumstances", whatever the heck that means, Capcom wouldn't let them localize it, not even as eshop only" which unfortunately really stinks
If this wasn't coming out next month, I'd consider getting it at the msrp since I don't want to be constantly staring at my phone while walking and using the app, but the Pokemon people are already getting my to buy an overpriced piece of plastic in the form of the Pikachu Pokken pad next month so that'll be it for now.
@ghasfarost All of them save Diddy Kong and Boo are compatible with MP10 since all playable characters in MP10 have their own amiibo party board, while the two I mentioned aren't playable in MP10. And this entire wave of Mario amiibo save for Diddy is compatible with Mario Tennis Ultra Smash as again, all but Diddy are playable and can be made into an amiibo doubles partner. Though now that I point it out, this Diddy amiibo is pretty much just a reskin which I guess all of those that were in Smash are, but unlinke the others, there's no real reason to opt for this one over the Smash one besides aesthetic preference since there and there isn't really a gameplay (ie memory on the chip) reason to warrant buying 2.
@DarkKirby from the looks of it patch is kind of a mixed bag. The changes you mentioned were definitely good. But there are some that I feel are also bad. Allowing people to combo off of Yveltal's move seems like it'd be abusible since Yveltal does a lot of damage and hitstun on top of locking you out of burst. I also think the extra lag on the startup of Pikachu's burst attack is a bit of a big nerf to it since he pretty much has to land it raw off a punish in order to do a decent amount of damage
@King_Johobo I think the main reason GC virtual console hasn't happened yet is because a lot of GC games like Mario Sunshine, SF Assault, and SSB Melee used the analog triggers of the controller to provide different commands when they're lightly pressed or a fully pressed. While this can be solved with the GC adapter and GC controllers, that would force an extra peripheral (assuming you have enough controllers already) on top of a low user base that'll run the usual port cost to develop and it's not a super profitable venue for Nintendo.
I think Ubisoft, should this come out on a Nintendo system, try to keep other releases in mind. The original May release would've been really good and I planned to get it then, but the delay led me to pick up Kirby instead. Then the new release date was the same week as Smash Wii U and OR/AS so that's where my priority was.

@IceClimbers You're right, I forgot about that, but is the 1 time Baton Pass boost worth your Z-move slot? On top of that I believe Smogon bans Baton Pass with Speed boosts, so legality may vary.
Re: New Version-Exclusive Pokémon, Pokémon Refresh and More Shown Off for Sun and Moon
Re: Pokémon Generations Animated Series to Have Weekly Episodes on YouTube
I think this is safe to say this is essentially the 3 years between origins (aka red/blue) and gold and silver after the gen 1 stories since for all we know red saw/caught all 800+ pokemon (counting the sun and moon ones) during that time and he traveled to all 6 current regions (and likely Alola). Also of note is sometimes Red's Pikachu is out of a Pokeball and isn't at others, so perhaps one of these episodes might show Red bonding with his Pikachu and explaining why it surpassed Charizard in power.

Re: Video: Catch Some Day One Super Smash Bros. Melee Action from CEO 2016 - Live!
@Luffymcduck customs were off, so it was vanilla Palutena. All of CEO Smash 4 wise has been surprise upsets from zeros loss to Trela being taken out by some Jr main and more
Re: Warner Bros. Is Committed To Supporting Nintendo NX
@jimi I think the Wii U version was more stable since the developer, WB Montreal, were the ones that ported Arkham City to Wii U and added the new stuff so they had experience making Batman work on the system. Which admittedly kinda annoyed me afterwards given they cut out most of the cool gamepad stuff that made the Wii U version of Arkham City the best of the many
Re: Review: Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE (Wii U)
@SKTTR No, Ike isn't in this game.
Re: There's an Early Patch Inbound for Mighty No. 9 on Wii U
Well there goes any hope of them getting money out of me for this game, if you release a game that can brick consoles, you don't deserve any support whatsoever, post release patch or not.
Re: Rumour: French Media Claims Nintendo NX is Set for September Reveal
@8itmap_k1d If the NX were to have Wii U backwards compatibilty (not saying it will), it would have to have Wiimote support since some Wii U games require it
Re: Delays With The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Due to Physics Engine and Dual Release Decision
Re: First Impressions: Going Under the Gavel With Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice
@Piersen A few members of the Great Ace Attorney team just recently told some sites (I found it on gamnesia) that due to "certain circumstances", whatever the heck that means, Capcom wouldn't let them localize it, not even as eshop only" which unfortunately really stinks
Re: E3 2016: Pokémon Go Heads For July Release, With the Plus Add-On Costing $34.99 in the US
If this wasn't coming out next month, I'd consider getting it at the msrp since I don't want to be constantly staring at my phone while walking and using the app, but the Pokemon people are already getting my to buy an overpriced piece of plastic in the form of the Pikachu Pokken pad next month so that'll be it for now.
Re: Nintendo Unveils Seven New Super Mario Series amiibo, Including Waluigi
Re: Pokkén Tournament Update 1.3 Promises To Bring Some Balance
@DarkKirby from the looks of it patch is kind of a mixed bag. The changes you mentioned were definitely good. But there are some that I feel are also bad. Allowing people to combo off of Yveltal's move seems like it'd be abusible since Yveltal does a lot of damage and hitstun on top of locking you out of burst. I also think the extra lag on the startup of Pikachu's burst attack is a bit of a big nerf to it since he pretty much has to land it raw off a punish in order to do a decent amount of damage
Re: The Nintendo@E3 2016 Miiverse Community is Live and Full of Unrealistic Expectations
Re: For What It's Worth, Watch Dogs 2 Launches This November
I think Ubisoft, should this come out on a Nintendo system, try to keep other releases in mind. The original May release would've been really good and I planned to get it then, but the delay led me to pick up Kirby instead. Then the new release date was the same week as Smash Wii U and OR/AS so that's where my priority was.
