Following recent news that a solid street date continues to elude the Wii U version of Watch Dogs, a user of Nintendo’s latest home console who goes by the name of DiGiTaLM4N has taken a photo of the Uplay application on the system featuring an updated showcase of Ubisoft’s long-delayed title.
If this is in fact new evidence, it is obviously further proof Watch Dogs will eventually be released on the Wii U. Alternatively, it may just be old news — according to several Nintendo fans from different regions, this was always present on the Uplay application from day one.
Let us know if you think this is the real deal – and if it does indeed hint that the release of Watch Dogs is still on the cards.
Thanks to Ryan Millar for the heads up!

To be canned.
It's annoying how publishers can be vague without any apparent reason. Common Ubi! Just say YES or NO! Either will do!!
Since they said it'll be the last mature game they'll release on the Wii U, don't expect Watchdogs 2 to come on the Wii U. I won't buy since there's no point. They could keep this game for themselves.
I don't think I've ever been on Uplay.
Don't care getting Hyrule Warriors and Bayonetta 2 instead.
If it runs well and has some Wii U exclusives I might get it.
When, and if, this will be out I'll surely buy a copy! For my 360!! And it will cost € 10!!!
watchdogs (360) is already a tenner second hand at my local games supplier. It is becoming a more attractive offer the more and more Ubi are trying to put people off the wiiu version, one thing that bothers me is the shear number of second hand copies they have. Either it is short and shallow or it is a bad game, either way it is worrying.
I was looking forward to this game on wii u but I couldn't be bothered with the wait so I picked it up on ps3 second hand for £15.
I still might buy this game but everyone knows it will be £10 within 3 months of release so I might finish my backlog and pick it up late. It's a shame because I would like another ZombiU but Ubi wouldn't so what's the point in supporting this.
@Vriess ubisoft actually already said several times that that game is still in the line. They aren't saying when exactly though, but they've confirmed it already.
They shouldn't say yes or now, they should just show us what it's going to look like and at least tell us something about its WiiU integration. Maybe they aren't telling us anything, because we can already add 1 + 1 ourselves.
It obviously will be a port of the PS360 version (which is very bad) maybe with some slight graphical improvements (which won't help as the main flaws of these versions are like completely empty streets and that won't be just fixed like that) and the Gamepad integration will be an offscreen map, which might not be so original but standard plus OFF-TV gameplay, which is like the most important thing with this version and actually the main reason why I'm still interested in getting this game.
That's it. There won't be more, because Ubisoft won't put more money into that game than necessary as they aren't believing that they are making any money with it. If we are very lucky, then they maybe might include the coming DLC, but I wouldn't count on that. And actually, Ubisoft is right. WD on WiiU wouldn't have sold if it would've come in May and it won't sell if it comes out now.
Maybe they are waiting for Smash Bros to be released to measure how much better stuff is selling at that point. Would make sense.
I have actually been waiting for the wii u release of this game. But when and if it comes out, i'll have to know about the framerate before buying it since ac4 runs very poorly on the wii u.
@valcoholic Ubi said before that the Wii U version would "outperform last gen versions" even if the graphics don't end up next gen(which people say still looks bad) it doesn't mean it won't play revolutionary. They even said the Wii U Gamepad is a "natural fit" for the game
@BensonUii last for now because with the current Wii U units sold they believe they make much less money. If Wii U finally becomes a best seller than we can still expect the sequel
Man, why can't it be Far Cry!? So many good Ubisoft games and we get Watch Dogs?
@MeWario it can still be a great game on Wii U. People were so quick to assume PS4 and X1 would be the best version
I guess I'm torn on this one. As annoyed with how cruddy 3rd party devs treat the Nintendo customer in general, I can't get over the fact that Ubi has made some very good games on Nintendo's systems. EA & Activision are known for lousy, half-hearted ports at full price, but (at least to me) Ubi's games are usually pretty good, if not of a higher standard.
Absolutely love Beyond Good & Evil, found both AC3 & 4 a blast despite a few flaws and Child of Light is a gem worth every penny. Maybe Watch Dogs will be worth it, but it would be nice to know what we're getting in to before buying. Plus, getting treated like the red-headed stepchild as a Nintendo owner is getting old.
@Mega719 I've played it and it's decent to mediocre. It's certainly not worth waiting so long for. This is just me, but I'd take nearly any other recent or upcoming Ubisoft title to this one. Even if it's the best version of the game (and that's a big if) it's still a pretty forgettable game.
They've literally got one guy working on this. And he's already got a new job lined up that starts at the beginning of next year so he has just completely checked out.
It takes a lot of time to add Mario hats to a game.
It was not there from day one but was added in updates just like every other non-launch tittle. It has been there for a while though.
Wow I can't believe this hasn't been released yet, considering it has been out for every other console. Hope Ubisoft doesn't point any fingers for poor sales on Wii U.
I've had and still have this on pre-order since day of announcement. On my iPhone Game app it list all my pre-orders with a timer count down to release in days. For watchdogs it states 116 days until release which translates to 31/12/14. This is probably because it's the last day of 2014 and the App won't go into 2015 but who knows!
I will without a shadow if a doubt cancel the preorder if the previews (if and when we get some) or reviews are mediocre or negative. As to wait this long beyond the mainstream release I expect nothing less than full on WiiU specific integration and optimisation and basically the best game Ubisoft have ever released on WiiU. Don't want much do I!
At this point (according to Ubisoft's past comments), we are less than 3 months from release and still don't a single screenshot let alone a video of Watch Dogs running on Wii U hardware. All we have is their word that one of their B teams is still working on it and not the development team behind the PC, XBOne, PS4, PS3, XB360 versions. This whole thing reeks of that special brand of Ubisoft BS.
My guess is that once Just Dance 2015 gets released (10/21), Ubisoft will quietly can the project altogether and drum up a BS excuse as to why it didn't get done. The likely truth being that they probably never even had the thing in development hence the lack of any evidence that the game was actually up and running on Wii U hardware. They would want to wait until after Just Dance 2015 to avoid any potential lost sales due to rightfully ticked off Nintendo fans who might boycott the company and tell others to follow suit. Look at the poor sales fallout from their announcements around the Wii U versions of Rayman Legends (loss of exclusivity and 6 month delay), Splinter Cell (local co-op cut for no reason) and Assassin's Creed 4 (loss of DLC and shoddy port). With the exception of the Just Dance shovelware, Ubisoft has dropped all support for the machine so why would they waste the time and money to put out a guaranteed Wii U sales flop (6 months late, full retail price and watered down port). Sorry but all the evidence points to Watch Dogs never seeing the light of day on Wii U. I recommend putting your money into games that can expand the future of the machine like Bayonetta 2. Just a thought.
If you absolutely have to get your GTA fix on Wii U, I would recommend Lego City Undercover or utilizing the great backwards compatibility for something like Godfather or Scarface on Wii.
@Mega719 Yeah. They keep saying stuff like that. I'm actually not one of those guys hating Ubi for cutting their support or for the rayman-disaster. I, most of the time, understand why they are doing what they do. But I gotta say, there are developers who are just honestly talking about their products ... and there's Ubisoft. I can't remember when they didn't overhype an incoming game by completely overdrawn bullpoopoodoodoocacapoopledoople. If they say stuff like you mentioned, then of course they do. What else should they tell you? They always claim how amazing a WiiU version of a game is turning out to be and how great the WiiU is and so on and then they're coming up with ... just average ports of games. Sometimes with actually neat Gamepad integration or at least attempts for it like Blacklist. But in the end, WD is just going to be a port like always. So I just wouldn't expect a different experience. It's more like this game is going to sell so bad on the WiiU, that one major part, the seamless Online integration, won't really be able to shine here. And, YES, I'd be the first one to be very happy if I'm wrong about my assumptions, but I really don't think I'm going to be.
The problem with Watch_Dogs... is everything. Personally not a fan of it and judging by comments on other sites and the large number of cheap copies in shops, neither are a lot of other people.
Also not a fan of Ubisoft, though perhaps a change in company name is in order with the way they screw over customers.
I'm sure after their Dance 2015 or what ever it's called, is released, Ubisoft will be saying "It's the last casual game we will be releasing on the Wii U" due to low sales.
I thought Ubisoft was going to be the next Atlus: a developer-publisher that would build its own loyal following on Nintendo platforms.
Then, they screwed up badly.
Can't wait to read why it's the consumer's fault that this won't sell on Wii U.
@DracioKoi they will, I'm done waiting GAME owe me £10 now as a deposit went down a year ago on a preorder
I still want this game but mY need for it has vastly gone down. If it hits at the normal gaming launch price then I'll probably wait. Does it really matter at this point how much it sells. It could sell a million and not change anything.
Watch Dogs has been on uPlay for months. I used the points and bought all of the content on there already.
I'm pretty sure this was on there when Child of Light released, it's the only game I used UPlay for so it had to be then.
And as an early naysayer of this ever releasing on Wii U I think i twill come now. Seem slike everygame these days geyts a "collectors ed" or GOTY ed so when that releases on the other consoles Wii U will get it.
Or when Batman and AC release on other systems this fall they'll give this to Wii U, since Wii U won't be getting those either.
Either way, I honestly believe it's coming.
And for thos who say it can't release b/c it doesn't have a date yet - I give you SSB for Wii U and Capt Toad: TT, and the amiibo to. No dates yet all due in 2014.
Another terrifically monotonous Ubisoft game, I personally don't care (at all) if it gets cancelled.
Is anyone still excited for this game? Its not like people are still raving about how great it is on other systems. Still, I'm willing to pick it up after I clean out my holiday purchases...so after Smash Wiiu.
Ubisoft will delay it and delay it until finally releasing it waay too late. The game will look and play like doggeypoopiepoodle because they didn't put any effort into it, they'll charge $60 bucks for it, and then cry because nobody's buying it.
Watch_Dogs on Wii U isn't even out yet and it's already destined to fail, because Ubisoft doesn't want it to succeed. Everybody who was interested in Watch_Dogs has already bought it on other systems. Nobody's gonna pay full retail price for a doggeypoopiepoodley, lazy port of a 6-month-old game.
Watch the profanity -Lz
I understand them wanting to make the most money out of Wii U. But then they should have released when hype was high, before we could read less than stellar reviews for the other consoles and start bearing a grudge. I don't imagine they'll make as much now as they would have at launch, so I'm betting on cancellation.
Really tho...do WiiU owners even care at this point?
Really tho...do WiiU owners even care at this point?
@IxnayontheCK I don't think so.
U Play has been offering those rewards for awhile, I always used them as my defense against others for the game still coming when they say it has been cancelled
Oh my god Ubisoft can't you send screenshots of the port to Nintendo based websites like this one!Or even better a make simple trailer about the version. To show Wiiu owners why you should wait for this and buy it,nope nothing just smoke and mirrors.Any Wiiu owner thinking on buying this don't,there are games coming this year that are worth the full retail price or even your attention then this piece of trash.
It's Been right there all these time.
Well, the cycle goes on
It's still in my Preorder que on Amazon.
@Raptor78 Chances are it's probably due to current gen upgrade, people trading in their 360 and PS3 consoles to get XB1 and PS4.
Why would anyone support them, I'd say its a waste......
@ajcismo EA (and possibly Activision) have made just as many, if not more, good games than Ubisoft have on Nintendo systems. Regardless of how scummy some of EA's recent exploits have been, their efforts on Wii surpassed many of Nintendo's and I have been very satisfied with ME3, NFS and FIFA on Wii U. Modern Warfare and Goldeneye on the Wii were both great efforts from Activision and BO2 on Wii U isn't too shabby with its FOC lag-free online!
Having said that, neither EA or Activision have attempted to make a proper Wii U game and Ubisoft actually did.
Will get this for WiiU as it's supposed to outperform PS3 / X360 - and I won't buy PS4 for another year or so. Currently inFamous is the only title I want on PS4.
If this game gets cancelled for Wii U, I will never buy another Ubisoft game in my life. Probably I'm the only one looking forward to get the Wii U version of Watch_Dogs even if the actual game is average and monotone as hell.
Yeah, it's been there since before Watch_Dogs was even released... the fact they still haven't removed it at least give me hope. Pfft, but at this rate we'll get this around the time Watch_Dogs 2 is out for everything else.
You can also pre-order the physical copy and there's a commitment to release from the ubisoft ceo. This will happen and we will most likely get a release date this month. I would guess they're just waiting for distribution channel coordination and PR planning at this point.
Meh, the game came out on other consoles and it disappointed on all of them, I rather go back to playing Sleeping Dogs instead. At this moment, I don't really care if the Wii U version come out or not as there's just no point in getting it anymore (unless if UbiSoft can add something to it to make it worth getting from the other ports).
Still looking forward to it. Got 35$ on it @ GameStop when we get a solid release date I'll pay it off. It'sva shame we as Wii U owners have to go through this crap.
Still Day One for me. Every getting their panties over a wad about Watch Dogs is part of the problem. I guess I'm still in the minority of supporting third parties, even if Ubisoft can act like a spoiled brat at times. I just take the high road and focus on getting the best games into my Wii U library.
Oh yea, I'm totally getting this too
@KillScottKill Exactly. I don't hate them. Especially Ubisoft and Capcom. I'm just freakin disappointed they would do the things their doing. No promo for Watch_Dogs Wii U and Capcom acting crazy with the Resi games. Watch_Dogs will probably be the last Ubi game I buy until they start supporting us again. Same with Capcom Resi Revelations will probably be it for a while unless they decide to release the new games on Wii U.
Oh Yeah! Glad watch dogs is still coming to Wii U!
I made this lol
I honestly keep forgetting this game exists.
I still believe the best version of Watch Dogs will be on Wii U.
@retro_player_22 yeah hacking from the game pad
I want to get it in Wii U if they use the gamepad. The "hacking" in the current versions is pressing a button prompt.
@B_Troof It might be - I dunno how it could be a good game at all though from what I have played of it.
I'll buy it!!
Not new, it has been there since Splinter Cell Blacklist released.
I doubt that Watch Dogs will release now, it's more likely that Ubisoft just can't be bothered to remove it from Uplay. From what I've experienced of the game on the PS3 it won't be much of a loss though.
Ubisoft is prolly hesitant to say its been cancelled because they know they will will might just lose Wii U's near entire userbase.
I made this news on IRC, and a guy on IRC posted it on GoNintendo.
@Ryu_Niiyama
A bit random but I just have to say it's been a joy seeing you comment on articles because I'm in love with your Kashiyuka avatar. :-3
@PrincessSugoi Hey hey! I'm always happy to find a fellow Perfume fan! Honestly while I love all the girls Nocchi is my favorite. Still when I found this gif I couldn't stop laughing at how awesome it is. I can never look at the Natural ni koishite video the same anymore. I'm pretty excited I'm going to see them at their New York show in November.
On Topic: At this point I think watch dogs should release in December...I'm willing to bet that Smash is going to drop right before Black Friday... at least in the US. There is no way this game will survive next to Smash.
@Jetset Glad someone got a laugh from my post
I like your profile pic. I play Command & Conquer 3 Kane's Wrath to this day!
I just laugh when I see this. NOBODY CARES UBISOFT! WE HAVE FORGOTTEN AND BETTER GAMES ARE ON THE HORIZON LEAVING NO TIME FOR POINTLESS SANDBOX HACKING!
The time for me to purchase this game has passed, by like 4 months. Too little too late...
