Re: Memory Pak: Making Contact With The "Ungoogleable" Game I Couldn't Quite Remember

@ooyah - Could it be Don Doko Don? It sounds very similar, except you weren't a construction worker, more of a gnome/woodsman, but you did have a hammer/mallet. It was two player game and one player had a yellow hat/clothing. It was indeed very Bubble Bobble-esque. I loved that game

BTW I've got a pc game (possibly PD/Shareware (remember that?)) from about 25 years ago - it was like Bomberman, but with wizards. There were lizard monsters (IIRC) in a maze that the wizards used potions on to open remove walls and kill the lizards. Anyone?

Re: Switch Player Magazine Is Ending Its Six-Year Run With One Last Issue

69. Everyone's fave number!

Seriously, it's sad that so many physical magazines have gone by the wayside over the years. I really miss a good number of them, including C&VG, GamesTM and the Mean Machine mags of yore to name just a few UK titles. I still subscribe to Edge and Retro Gamer, but I don't enjoy either title as much as I used to.

Egon Spengler stated that "Print is dead" way back in 1984. How right he was.

Re: Feature: That Time Nintendo Played God To Sell Pikmin To Gardeners

Hey!!! Lay off Milton Keynes. It's a lovely place. Well, except Fishermead. And the Lakes Estate. And all the roundabouts (actually, those are pretty cool). The concrete cows are a bit of a joke, but nobody talks about the lifesize concrete triceratops...

Anyway, yeah, Pikmin. Love them. Especially in salads!

Re: Fatal Frame: Maiden Of Black Water Will Haunt Switch At Halloween

@kupocake I hope not, as I still have my sealed Special Edition copy. I didn't buy it to sell (though I might at some point). I just never got around to actually playing it. I have (and love) the other Project Zero/Fatal Frame games on XBox and PS, so pre-ordered it on WiiU as soon as I could.

Re: Talking Point: One Year On, What's Still Missing From Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

Remember the badge grabbing game on the 3DS? Or the capsule game from Smash Bros? I'd love those inside AC, with themed prizes (plushies, toys, mini-figs, furniture items etc). Machines could be set up in Nook's Cranny or Brewster's Cafe.

I'd also like Nookington's at some point (a larger Nook store from earlier AC games), so I can actually not buy more ugly furniture ans stuff!

Re: Star Wars Video Games Join Forces Under Lucasfilm Games

zitpig

I was there when LucasFilm games started out and didn't rely on Star Wars; Rescue On Fractalus, The Eidolon, BallBlazers, the Monkey Island series, Maniac Mansion and the other SCUMM adventures etc. etc. etc. All awesome games BITD that really pushed the boundaries.

Not that this company has anything to do with those games though. It's like Atari - the name still exists but the designers, creators, coders, artists and co are looooooooong gone.

Re: Picross S5 Brings Your Next Puzzle Fix To Switch Next Week

@SlowPokemon

I love Picross and touchscreen is the most logical, immediate and intuitive way to play (IMHO).

But the devs for this series don't seem to see it like that. I'd love to know their reasoning.

So unless it's got touchscreen support, I won't buy it. I didn't buy the other S versions for the same reason. Shame, as I bought all their Picross games for DS/3DS.

I've created my own Picross games (for pc and mobile/handheld devices) in the past and it really is a doddle to add touchscreen support. It doesn't have to be touchscreen only, just have that as an additional control method. It's less than 10 minutes coding.

Fingers crossed that they finally adopt it for this next version.

Re: Jupiter Is Releasing A Sega Themed Picross Game On The Nintendo Switch

zitpig

@Kawaiipikachu I've refused to buy any of the Switch offerings because of no touchscreen support. To me it's the most natural way to play Picross. I bought all the Jupiter Picross games on DS and 3DS. And it's so easy to implement touchscreen too (I've written loads of pc, console and mobile games where touchscreen is implemented, including several Picross games). It doesn't have to be touchscreen only, but why lose sale for not including it as an option?
