Alien on the Run (Joindots, €4.99 / £4.19) - This rather quirky action racing game came out in North America way back in 2014; developed by G-Style, it has over 80 fast-paced levels in which you dodge and avoid tractor beams and objects with intuitive controls. We praised its creativity and level design while giving it a strong recommendation in our Alien on the Run review.
Stickman Super Athletics (CoderChild, €2.49 / £2.25 until 22nd August, then €2.99 / £2.69) - Well timed to tap into the upcoming Rio Olympics, this looks like a rather simplistic take on familiar events like the 100m sprint, cycling and swimming; we'll see whether it's worthy of a podium place in a review.
3DS Demo
Alien on the Run (Joindots, free)
3DS eShop Permanent Discount
Goosebumps: The Game (GameMill, €19.99 / £14.99, was €24.99 / £19.99)

It might be the worst week for 3DS/Wii U games in a long while...
Looks like the first "nothing" week for a while (would've had much more "nothing" weeks if the Fates DLC wasn't a constant flow).
Very fitting:
I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is the worst 'Nintendo Download' in history.
@tjhiphop agreed, Nintendo direct?
Oh dear.......may as well not bothered with an eshop download this week. Maybe time to go monthly??
Dreadful! Nintendo probably kept the Zen sales promotion in the back pocket to be played in a week like this for Wii U. Not a single new game, demo or VC title. You'd better like pinball is all I'll say otherwise it's the usual suspects discounted again. Piss poor week for 3DS too. If you didn't know any better, you might say there's a Nintendo Direct incoming?
Edit:
I had the NX reveal pencilled in for the end of this month or maybe just maybe very early September. But the Eurogamer rumours might be forcing Nintendo's hand to move that date up so that their surprise isn't completely ruined. The longer they wait, the greater the chance someone is going to let the cat completely out of the bag.
Nintendo never discount any decent games. It's always cheap eshop games that I'm not interested in.. Now €2 was €2.99. That's not the kind of savings I'm looking for. I want was €60 now €30.
Game Over!
All the RCMADIAX masterpieces discounted! Best eShop weekly update in history!
Worst week ever...
oh lord! How depressing
@Alexkidd1985 oh well soon be March 2017
Nintendo and Microsoft usually have repeating sales, and lots of games is never on sale.
Its a good week for Zen Pinball fans thou.
Must be a Direct Coming! GameCube VC confirmed!
Nintendo really needs to offer discounts on its first party stuff. Just one a week on each console would be something. There's some titles I'm not sure on (eg Kirby) but I'd take a punt for £20. Not at the price they're at now though.
Worst week of all time?
Zen Pinball is the only shining light of this week. But that's not for me.
@Grumblevolcano I'm surprised you didn't say "Nintendo Direct incoming" .That was my immediate thought then I remembered there are no new games coming so ruled that out.
It will get to the stage where the Wii U download week will consist only of RCMADIAX sales.
Two new releases total ?
Normally, id say its a sign for a direct, probably even pointing towards the recent NX leaks and a potential official reveal (which would be about time).
But then i remembered that we are still talking about Nintendo...
I've no interest in pinball at all but I'll grab a couple of tables to try out at a pound-ish!?! Any recommendations people? Was just gonna pick up the walking dead one and another I think....
wow is this what nintendo has come to only paper mario wii u and zelda to come out on wii u it feels like they have given up on the console. Thank goodness for the ps4 can;t wait till VR and com 2 and no mans sky.
I wished for the Substitute theme here, so I will go for it ^^
@ULTRA-64 If you can get into learning and score chasing on 1 or 2 tables then you'll get tens of hours of play out of them.I've only played a few but the earliest ones are by far my favourites. Both Sorcerers Lair and Epic Quest are superb and are featured in the sale so I'd recommend both of them..Empire Strikes Back is great too but I think you can only buy that in a pack of 3 with not so great tables Boba Fett and Clone Wars being the other 2,I think.Still the £3.99 it's asking for the Star Wars pack is worth it just for the Empire table alone.
Wow this is truly shocking. I can't remember last time I saw some little. I'd love it to be a sign that Nintendo is about to spring a big announcement... oh look a pig is flying outside my window.
Runs in whooping, almost in tears
"Guys, guys! Star Wars Pinball is finally on sale - it's the best Nintendo Download ev.....
"Guys?"
Well I'll be getting it. Probably. I see there's a few packs, so presumably the best tables have been split across the packs, which I wouldn't be happy about, so I'll have to give it some thought.
@samuelvictor The Empire table is really great,the other 2 tables not so much in my opinion..Like I said in my comment above though,the Empire table alone is worth the £3.99 they're asking for.It's everything you would want a Star Wars pinball table to be,you'll love it.
don't want to be mean, but that Wii U Eshop this week is BAD.
i fear NA's won't be better
Last summer was nothing for weeks then BOOM! Xenoblade Chronicles outta nowhere.
@MysteryAozz I think NA's will be fine as they still have to play catchup with EU.
@OorWullie There's been too many times recently that this quantity of downloads have been present. I think it's just part of Nintendo's plan to try and make the NX as successful as possible. A 9 month drought with only 1 game would potentially be enough for Nintendo fans to quickly flock over to NX.
@Luna-Harmony
NO MAN'S SKY!!!
I want secret of mana for wii u vc
"Alien on the Run! Stickman Athletics! Pinball discounts galore! More!"
'More'
Very misleading.
I like how the tagline implies how this is a great week.
Aliens! Stickman! Pinball! More!
lmao damn nintendo fanboys
@gaga64 Gamecube VC would make up for the lack of games on Wii U. But Nintendo doesn't like money.
@Yasume I know right? Exactly.
Wow mega bare this week maybe Stickman Athletes n that Alien Demo game other than that nothing else for me this week.
Dear Nintendo, I have not bought anything from your store in nearly six month...GET SOME GOOD GAMES IN YOUR STORE!
Nintendo should have more sales similar to the 5th Annerversary eShop deals, but on a more regular basis. VC games for cheap are such a must have ;-;
The only thing here I was enthusiastic about were the Pokémon themes! Something's not right here.
Might pick the Star Wars Pinball Rebels table, since it's the only one I don't own yet.
Super Castlevania IV on the New 3DS Virtual Console please!
What a terrible week. When comes to sales Sony put Nintendo to shame, I pretty much always get at least one game per week from them. Nintendo should at the very least have virtual console games every week since there is plenty they haven't released yet
Hey, at least there are some cool 3DS themes, right? (Nintendo couldn't think of just ONE game for the Wii U? Just ONE!?)
Edit: To all those saying the Wii U only has Paper Mario and Zelda, remember that it's also getting Skylanders, new Lego Dimensions packs, and Stardew Valley! (Those are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head.)
Dank week.
@BensonUii They already had one in June.
I have a fair number of Zen tables; looks like it's time to get the rest!
So many discounts, so little time.
i hope we (in NA) get some of those home themes. I really want those Pokemon ones. I hope our update isn't as bad, not that it really matters since I won't be getting any games until the 20th of the month anyways.
Nothing at all even remotely interests me this week
@samuelvictor Nice one on the small acting roll I forgot to add.How did that come about?I'd be well chuffed haha.I could have had a small role in a Chinese martial art movie being filmed in Thailand a couple of years ago.I was with my mate outside a supermarket at 2 in the morning having a blether and and this incredible looking girl who just got out a big fancy car approached us asking if we were here for the movie.After the surprise and laughter that followed she offered us the role of 2 American soldiers but it would have meant going there and then at 2am and staying on a site for 3 days.Obviously we weren't prepared but I was still up for it.Stupidly I let my pal talk me out of it,we both regret it now.
Yikes! This update is really bad. There's almost nothing interesting on here. Hopefully, NA's one isn't as bad.
Terrible week, but I have been waiting on Star Wars Pinball to be in a sale, so I'll probably snap that up. Here's hoping the NX gets a port of Zen Pinball 2, as I believe they let you redownload your PS360 tables for free on PS4/XBONE.
While this could lead to an Direct, frankly what could they give us Wii U owners over then a long overdue N64 game (Snap, F Zero X and Smash come to mind)? They could reveal the NX and stuff, but that's still nothing for the Wii U unless it was a VC related matter like another new console (Neo Geo?), more TG games, Final Fantasy/Square Enix games to fill the void till NX. Gamecube is doubtful and they're probably knee deep into NX game development to be making anymore Wii U games bar Paper Mario. 3DS could still get something this week, but again doubtful....
Ouch. Tough week, Europe.
Wow. So many discounts
It's safe to say that the ones voting on a temporary discount purchase this week, is getting pinball tables from ZEN Studios.
Nintendo Direct?! Ahahahahaha. Yeah.... Right. RCMADIAX is the new norm, folks. Have fun with that.
September where are you? The people are getting antsy.
I think they have stopped Nintendo Directs. I mean, the TG-16 virtual console just turned up unannounced. Are we all sure that if you pop in to our local game store, we won't be able to buy an NX already? They are probably sat on the shelves with no advertisments or marketing.
Nintendo of America doesn't get the hello kitty themes. I just realized that since that has ALWAYS been the case, NoA is discriminating. Hello Kitty should sue Nintendo for this!! She doesn't deserve this kind of treatment!
Three weeks ago, Curve Digital gave us 88-93% off 8 Wii U titles! As I only had Stealth Inc 2, I purchased the 7 I did not own!
...Maybe the best ever 3rd party sale on Wii U! Thanks, Curve Digital!
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2016/07/nintendo_download_14th_july_europe
This week... this is a sad week compared.
No new games.
No new VC titles.
Cheap and small games discounted 30%, still way more expensive than the more impressive games offered in Curve Digital's sale... no thanks.
@GrailUK I found one in the 2nd hand store earlier.Cheap too but one of the detachable controllers was missing.Been out for 6 months apparently,it flopped.
Nano Assault NEO is a great game. I know it's been out for a loooong time and has been discounted before (at least here in the US). But if you don't have it and like shooters, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
@OorWullie Hahaha. There will be an article on the main page with Reggie addressing the messed up NX launch.
With the VC, there really is no excuse to have these sort of weeks. They seriously couldn't release a single VC title on the 3DS? They couldn't revive NES support for it, or come up with a single SNES game for the New 3DS?
I think Nintendo hates sales, haha.
@samuelvictor Congratulations on the role!
@samuelvictor I think this is the kind of stuff one deserves to brag about lol. The outfit looks awesome mate, let's hope that you get more opportunities after this.
@samuelvictor Not at all mate ,it's a great story and well worth talking about. Congratulations to you, it must have been some experience,dream come true in fact.Best of luck with your career man
Finally a discount on Starwars pinball, I was waiting for that.......
I just hope we'll get it in Canada as well.
Looking forward to Nintendo Direct this week
Poor, but my expectations are low and I'm in the middle of three separate very long games, so not all bad.
I'm getting all the pinball tables. Should be enough pinball for the rest of my soul.
I laugh at all the people still speculating about a Direct when there's a terrible download announcement.
C'mon people, at this point there have been dozens of terrible weeks without a Direct!
Uh nothing for Wii U?? What a slap in the face!!
@dizzy_boy awesome movie lol!!
virtual cantsole ftw
Maybe Alien on the run, but first the demo.
@Ultimategamer132 No mans sky failed big time over hyped !!
@Luna-Harmony
I've been keeping a keen eye on it for a while. Can you explain how its bad so I know whether or not to get?
