Re: Talking Point: How's Your Switch Holding Up After 5 Years?

tadams587

Three hardware revisions, not including the switch lite.
Some thing else was altered in the hardware, in an attempt to stop the Switch from being hacked, before the introduction of the newer battery efficient CPU.

The first hardware revision failed to prevent the Nintendo Switch from being hacked, though it still improved something in either the memory or SD. I forget which one. My Nintendo Switch is one of the ones with the improvement, & older CPU.

I don't use it docked anymore, as I have switched to the OLED as my Primary docked. I know some might think the OG Switch should be Docked & my OLED should be the handheld, as the OLED has a better screen.

In an attempt to increase my OG Switch's lifespan, I will no longer allow for it to push itself to the higher performance levels, Dock mode provides. I use a battery pack for my OG Nintendo Switch.

If we ever get a Nintendo Switch Pro, I'll rotate my OLED to be my dedicated handheld.

If you think I wasted my money on the OLED as I'm not using the Screen at the moment, your mistaken. The first battery efficient model, without the improved Screen, was the waste of money. If you didn't want more than improved battery life, you should've bought the Nintendo Switch lite, instead of the other one.

People are saying the OLED is stupid or a waste, because they themselves did not wait & bought the other revision. Sucks to be them.

Buy the OG for eventual modding, Buy Switch Lite for improved Battery Life, buy the OLED for the best current Hybrid Experience, and/or wait for the next 'NEW' Super Nintendo Switch 2 PRO.

There should've been another option.
Thankfully, The features between them aren't that far apart. We will all move up together, when the next thing arrives. I don't want another repeat of the many 2DS's in toddlers hands having Devs butchering performance, or abandoning the Next thing.

If I were to make a prediction, when the new thing comes out, many new games will restrict themselves to 720/60fps (handheld) and 1080p/30fps (docked) , unless played on the new hardware. Raytracing might be stuck at 30fps, if incorporated. There might me a revision of the Switch Pro to get it to 60fps. Which isn't a bad trade off. Devs want their games to perform better, but wont work with a small community to sell to.

The New Switch and OLD Switch aren't going to be like a 'New' 3DS and 2DS, that utilize features too night & day, & can't be tweaked with a software update. The Switch is compatible with PS4-like code, and the PS5 is compatible PS4 code...you get where I'm going with this.

Anybody who thinks Nintendo should abandon the handheld market & Do native 4K, is my enemy. IF Nintendo goes native 4K or even 2K, file sizes will become bloated, and in this bad economy physical media will become expensive. I love my Nintendo physical media. Though I would like to see improvements on micro SD cards and the Cartridge slot speeds, we need the newer UHS-II, or even UHS-III to become standard. Even if used for only faster load screens, or a bump in FPS.

Re: 'Gex' The Forgotten '90s Video Game Mascot Might Be Making A Comeback

tadams587

Gex remade/enhanced to HD, or another emulated N64 game?

The games are fun to play.
However, the Graphics haven't aged well. I've played it on my PS3, and my console often crashed when emulating it.
I'll rather buy a proper port, than play it on the Nintendo Switch's Online service app. I'd also say this about any Zelda, Banjo-Kazooie, Mario, Donkey Kong, Sonic, or Gantlet game.

If limitedrungames sold a physical copy of it, that is where I'd buy it.

Re: Nintendo Switch Pro: Everything We Know - 4K Visuals, Nvidia Tegra And 2021 'OLED Model'

tadams587

The Switch needs more wifi range, HDR & a more consistent 60fps.
Despite it supporting smaller data transfer speeds, the 3DS has more range. I know this because my 3DS would have 2-3 bars, while at the same time my Switch is at 1 bar.

Redeveloping a game for another console can be a hassle, but trying to force a game to work well with-out HDR support could essentially make a hill into a mountain. When the mountain becomes too big, Devs aim for 30fps or the cloud.
HDR is a universal standard for both consoles & PC.

Not going to lie but 4k would be nice, but Nintendo releases underpowered devices with longevity in mind. If they do 4K, then expect games at either 4K/30fps or the cloud at 4K/60fps.

Which would you choose cloud gaming at 4K/60fps;
or native FHD/60fps with proper HDR support?
If I had to choose between them, I'd go for the latter.

If Nintendo really wants to make cloud gaming a thing, they would need to sell an accessory to extend the Switch's wifi range in handheld mode
I'd buy it, it would be at the top of my need to buy list.

Re: 'Kingdom Hearts Integrum Masterpiece' Collection Brings The Entire Saga To Switch

tadams587

I’d rather they just increase the price, rather than using a cloud service.
1.5 $69.99
2.5 $69.99
2.8 + 3 $69.99
Bundle $149.99

Alternatively, you can play them on the epic gamestore, on a labtop.
Which is where I’ll buy them, I wanted to buy them on the switch, also.
The only games that are worth playing from the cloud on the Switch, are also dependent on multiplayer.
Square Enix needs to stop selling their games for less money. I quit both Sony & Xbox, as I can’t respect great games getting discounted within a year or two of their release. It damages both the developer & consumer perspective of what people are willing to pay for the service of suppling games of quality.

Re: Uh-Oh, Nintendo Switch Online's N64 Games Might Be 50Hz In Europe

tadams587

Despite the numerous graphical improvements done to both ocarina if time & Majorca’s mask over each of their re-releases; Nintendo’s lead console will only get the graphical changes related to censorship. (Link’s mirror sheild)

I’d rather pay 39.99 to 79.99 for the 3DS versions to be re-released in FHD.

79.99 if they are bundled together on the same cartridge.

Re: Nintendo Switch Cheat Device Speeds Up Pokémon Shiny Hunting, And It's Proving To Be Controversial

tadams587

Shiny hunting has always been awful in the core series. Pokémon Go players seem to have an easier time finding them. Getting the shiny charm from completing the Pokédex is stupid, it should be available sooner. Game Freak should add additional side quests in the core series to assist whatever professor with re-search, to get it. Trying to motivate me with shiny hunting, after I did everything else, is like saying you don’t believe any of the game’s other features have replay value.
The core ideology of the way it has been implemented has to have a hand in limiting the Devs approach to bettering the other aspects of their games.

Re: Pokémon Launches 'Pokémon 25: The Red EP', With A 'Blue EP' Counterpart Coming Later

tadams587

More Kanto call backs.
I though they at least do some Johto by now.
I had to deal with this all through Gen 6 to 8.
Maybe they think a Johto remake would be broken due to how they built fairy-type.
Fairy-type may destroy the Gen 4 Remakes, if proper adjustments aren't made.
Thankfully, Dialga is half steel-type.
I hope they didn't just change the Graphics. Granted better Graphics is a positive, but remakes should always focus on integrating the best of newer mechanics, into the experience.
So far Gen 8 were nothing but attempts to get more Pokemon Go players to the core games, and get more players of the core games to play Pokemon Go. If you want all 898 Pokemon, go buy a cell phone, because your Switch isn't powerful enough to handle it.
Dynamaxing only makes sense as simulated "Boss Fights", it is trash with-in PvP or PvNPC.
I don't understand if they change they stats of several Pokemon in Gen 5, how you now can legally transfer & battle without breeding it. Except for legendary, all other Pokémon should be from Gen 5 & above to legally battle with them.

Re: Video: Remembering The Super Game Boy For SNES

tadams587

If only Nintendo would release a controller with a small screen & 3DS/DS style cartridge bay.
It would plug into both usb ports, one for the controller inputs, the other is for the games feed.
We would call it the Super DS Pad, & it would go for &129.99 to $149.99.
I'd buy it.
Though, Scalpers would sell it for $450 to $1200.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Business Remains Strong, But Is The Bloom Off Switch Lite?

tadams587

No, it doesn't need a price drop at the moment. Perhaps around the holidays, but they would likely do another bundle instead.

Next year we might see a discount.
Companies think in fiscal quarters & the holiday season.
That said, it is a bit too early, to think any model of the Switch would be discounted.
The only model that has a chance to be discounted, are any of the white box, not-powered efficient Nintendo Switch.
Are the Pikachu/Eveee Editions still selling?

Re: Nintendo Reminds Us Pokémon Diamond And Pearl Remakes Are Coming To Switch

tadams587

Gotta say this now.
Remakes should be to incorporate newer mechanics not just graphics or nostalgic.
Personally, I'd want Mega evolutions, SOS battles, & possibly Z-moves for the Gen IV remakes.
I could care less about incorporating Dynamix.
Perhaps if they kept it to the boss fight dens, and out of the rest of the game.
Finally, all 898 Pokémon & all their forms.
Why would I play any Gen II - Gen VII remake, without all the Pokémon?
Besides the graphics, I have no information about what was or wasn't updated.
I can't buy the game unless I get more information.
Does anybody have a link to new information of the game, that isn't about graphics?
That was never a selling point of the Pokémon Games. Not saying better graphics isn't a positive, but I buy 8-bit style games on the Nintendo Switch.
I need more info, as i'm currently on the fence.
With the info I got, I can only assume, that I'll get the mostly the same experience, no better, no worst;
Than if I played my Pokémon Platinum.

Re: Monster Hunter Stories 2 Adds New Co-Op Quest And Monsties In Free Update

tadams587

Is this more content exclusive for post game?
I usually go from an either invested player or casual gamer, to an either casual or infrequent player in post game. It varies from game to game.
How big is this game's Post Game content?
Are the "Free Updates" the game's only post game content?

Hopefully the "Free Update" coming tomorrow, August 5th, will also contain their promised Bug fixes.
