Last week, Masahiro Sakurai revealed Sora from Kingdom Hearts would be added to Smash Bros. Ultimate as the final fighter.
The DLC character will arrive in-game next week on 18th October, and to pass time until then, Sakurai has been sharing some additional images of the Kingdom Hearts' rep and the new themed level over on his Twitter account.
Keep in mind, all of these images are taken from the debug version of the game. Enjoy!
He's also shared some of the artwork featured in the background of the Kingdom Hearts-themed stage Hollow Bastion. To fight on this stage, with this character, you'll need to get hold of Fighters Pass Vol.2, or you can purchase Sora individually.
"Fans of the KINGDOM HEARTS series will immediately recognize this familiar location, featured heavily in many of the franchise’s games. The dynamic stage contains one platform in its centre, and, as the battle nears its close, players will travel to a special area inspired by Dive to the Heart with visuals featuring some familiar faces from the KINGDOM HEARTS series."
Are you looking forward to Sora joining the battle next week? What do you think about this character as the final fighter? Tell us down below.

Yeah I look forward to Sora joining Smash. He is really cool. He was not my personal most wanted but he is fantastic and a amazing choice to end the fighter pass on.
Cool to see. He still wouldn't ever have been my choice but I can't complain, he just fits in too well. I'm actually kind of excited to try him out. Who knows, maybe I'll even use him as one of my secondaries!
7 days left, pretty hyped
There's a poetry in the idea that the final character in a crossover fighting game, will be from a popular crossover RPG. I love that.
This is the best timeline.
Oh gosh, I hope he's alright after sharing these screenshots!
TAKE A REST, DADDY SAKURAI, YOU ARE OVEREXERTING YOURSELF AND COULD COLLAPSE YOU DESERVE A BREAK!
@CharlieGirl
Don't forget that Fatal Fury's Terry Bogard's appearance in the KOF series is what inspired Smash to begin with!
Which is funny because KOF was inspired by Art of Fighting's Ryo Sakazaki's secret boss appearance in Fatal Fury Special. Which is arguably the first video game crossover ever.
We truly have come full circle twice over.
@FNL Dude. I laughed so hard, like belly laugh. That was amazing and I needed that after work. Thanks <3
Who's Sora again? He's the main protag from Hollow Knight, right?
I’m so bothered by the size of his feet.
Heck yeah I'm excited for Sora in Smash! Kingdom Hearts and Dragon Ball Z Budokai are the games that got me to ask my parents for a PS2 for Xmas, and I'll never forget playing them for the first time in the early 2000s.
I also love the new Hollow Bastion stage with its 7 (!) aesthetic transformations. It's so cool how it changes based on the timer running out and/or players getting low on stocks. I wish more stages had a dynamic reaction like this.
It would have been nice if we had gotten a few more songs from the KH universe but that's just a very minor gripe.
I don't know who she is. I'm sure someone likes her.
It's growing on me.
It's a crime that he releases on a Monday. Aw fudge.
An excellent fighter to end on. Glad they revealed some info about the Fighters Poll, so it at least can make us feel like people were considered.
Too bad Aqua didn’t get an invite. She deserves to be in smash too.
I like his addition to Smash but that doesn't make me okay with stupid cloud versions of his games.
I'm not paying that much to rent a game on Switch that I can't even play on the go.
Future kid somewhere: " Hey isn't that the guy from the cloud games thingy?"
I jest...
From a fandom and game series point of view I think he is an excellent choice, but from a gameplay and uniqueness one I am not sure he will be that interesting.
I really wish they would add the character reveal animations to the movie section. Some of them were really well done and the movie tab is pretty sparse.
I am just shocked that Smash should be a celebration of gaming and it completely ignores any 3rd person shooters and FPS- which are incoming for Nintendo too! The success of N64 wouldn’t be the same without Goldeneye or Jet Force Gemini, even rare gems like Sin and Punishment. Out of the entire roster absolutely NO characters from these genres, and I don’t count rail shooters- Fox and Kid Icarus. So to call this game a celebration of gaming when Nintendo doesn’t really celebrate the most iconic characters?! SORA is great but too conservative- I wish they brought a more unique character like Duck Hunt- that’s one of the most creative characters-I wish they brought back Leon Kennedy with the same level of creativity they poured into Duck Hunt.
@K1LLEGAL sorry, I don’t get the joke.
If only we could get Roxas and Xion as echo fighters. Hey with the thousands of Fire Emblem characters we have, why not?
I gotta say, I do find it amusing that each time someone has had their character added, they go extreme of 1 of 2 ways;
1) The person now thinks Sakurai needs to stop cause the game is now "complete" because other characters aren't worth it objectively.
2) Forget that your No. 1 request has already been added and move down the list and play victim of being ignored for you NOW No. 1 pick.
Seeing a lot of KH fans asking for Riku, or a surprise echo Roxas.
@Paraka
I thought Roxas was a dead giveaway as a costume, same for Xion. But then I noticed the focus on KH1 extends to the jumping animation, with the infamous leg-spreading, which explains why Roxas and Xion aren't costumes. In case you're wondering, imagine pulling that off while also dealing with the 3D model for the black coat.
@AlexSora89 - I suspected Roxas to have colors referencing them all similar to Shulk has. As I have seen them being often requested from KH fans alongside Sora.
Shocked I haven't heard anything for Kairi as well, but I guess that has something to do with her later character development (only played 1, been anti-Disney shortly after that).
Just posting my observations of how people are reacting when they get their character. KH community is a weird one, though. For being vehemently against "Anime Sword Fighter," They seem to be okay with more as long as they're shaped like keys? Just seems silly.
@Ryu_Niiyama Disney shoes be like
Indeed, no Kairi in the backgrounds.
I don't mind.
