Re: Soapbox: Endless Zelda Remakes Are A Poor Substitute For Backwards Compatibility

tadams587

What you have to keep in mind is that several of us skipped the Wii-U, some even skipped the Wii, as they weren't happy with with the console's controls.

Port releases are actually very ideal in the second half of a console's lifespan; as they allow a constant revenue while they prepare to transition to the Switch 2. The current Switch only has 4GB of Ram, which is also a big factor.

I just hope the Switch 2 is backward compatible, and can be played on the go.
I wouldn't bother to buy it, if it didn't have a handheld mode. Also, there is no way games that only need up to 4GB to run would be made to run only for the Switch 2. You wouldn't be completely cut off by not upgrading at first release. There would probably be up to 2-6 year span, till they stop making parts for the original Switch. Nintendo probably wasn't sure that they could go up to 4-6 years, so they introduced the newer repair plans that Customers can buy into.

Wii-U users always argue they want something new whenever a Wii-U game gets ported. They also love to point out that the Switch owes it success to the failure of the Wii-U. Which is the primary reason of these ports; to re-release games from a console with a very limited number of customers, to a console with a more vast number of customers.

I will buy all the Mario, Zelda, Kid Icarus, Sonic, Pokémon, and Golden Sun ports that they re-release.

Re: Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection Coming To Switch In 2023

tadams587

I was afraid we were never going to get ports of games that shared assets with older anime. These releases usually only coincide close to a Anime release. This gives me hope that Sakura Wars, the snes Sailor Moon games, the snes Tenchi Muyo Game, Yu-Gi-Oh! Falsebound Kingdom, the original .hack games, and past Gundam Games may also get ported.

On another note... I still want that Xenosaga port for Nintendo.

Re: Watch: Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase

tadams587

I don't need any more info on already announced games, unless its to show a release date on those that don't have one yet. Any more info on the already announced games are spoilers I don't need. Aside from revealing release dates on already announced titles, I just want some new games and new ports announced instead. Every one keeps talking about needing a Switch Pro, yet the lack of ports that don't need an enhanced model is insane. I wasn't a fan of the mandatory Wii and/or Wii-U console's controllers, so after the GameCube I stuck to Nintendo's handheld consoles. I was very thankful the Switch brough a way to play in a variety of ways, and does not force one way over the other, unless absolutely necessary. For some reason, the first "The World Ends with You" is the only exception, forcing to make use of Joy-cons, either attached via handheld mode or in dock mode. I am very willing to buy any and all games I missed out on, and I am sure younger generations are as well. The next Switch revision better have a higher color pallet that is on par with Xbox Eighth and ninth generation of consoles. It also needs to keep handheld mode as a function. There is Absolutely no reason, for the next revision, not to be Backward compatible with the current Switch software. With the exception of the Game & Watch consoles, every "NEXT" major release of Nintendo handheld consoles has had backwards compatibility with games from the handheld directly before it. I play my Switch games both docked & undocked.

I do agree Nintendo needs to have a stable 60fps when in Dock Mode. It is very concerning how several games are struggling to meet that standard. I don't see the point of Nintendo games being in native 4k, as the game sizes will be too big. Upscaled 4k would be their best bet. Several games won't look their best in either 720p, 1600x900, FHD, Upscaled 2k/4k, or native 2k/4k; NOT UNLESS Nintendo uses a higher color palette and shaders that are expected for Eighth-Ninth Generation. I have a laptop that can upscale games to 4K but it has a limited color pallet comparable to the Nintendo Switch. While the games do look sharper, I can't overlook the limited colors in some games. Any resolution won't look good enough, unless the screen supports a games' targeted, full color pallet. Color should never be a compromise for resolution, battery save mode, or fps.

Re: Nintendo Direct Mini To Air Tomorrow, June 28

tadams587

Its probably going to be on the Mario Strikers DLC. I hear the base pack of characters weren't enough for some. To be 5 character team vs 5 character team sport games aren't my thing.

Games that focus only, or close enough not to have value outside of online multiplayer, are pointless to have physical editions of. I say this despite the fact I do collect & hoard several Physical Nintendo Games. I do love my physical media.

Re: Sonic Origins

tadams587

I have Sonic Classic Collection for the Nintendo DS. Hopefully, I can get this release physical as well.

Re: Video: We're Confused About Sonic Frontiers

tadams587

The Nintendo port of Sonic Frontiers should be delayed for the 'NEW' Super Nintendo Switch 2, Pro Model. Render Distance may be awful...I'll gladly accept a 720p resolution for the Switch port if need be for the Render Distance to be high enough with a stable FPS. I get the feeling it will be 30fps at 1080p, as the current Switch may not be able a have a stable 60fps in either 720p or 1080p. That said, I only see a point of delaying Sonic Frontiers for the Nintendo Switch version.

Will Sonic run on top water at close to peak speeds, or not?

Re: Nintendo Switch System Update 14.1.2 Is Now Live, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

tadams587

Were the USB Drivers finally updated?

I have been experiencing drops in communication on my "Official Licensed" PDP wired controller.
You know the one with the headphone jack, but not so good D-pad. I can't play Tetris, or crotch-fly in Super Mario World with it. Also, despite it being wired only, it has no vibration. A lot of compromises just for a headphone jack.

I wouldn't understand the argument for wireless controllers not to have some sort of rumble, just to save battery power. People would buy 2 or 3 of a companies product to play, while the other one chargers. Rumble has been a standard feature, that Nintendo themselves started with the N64 controller. I'm actually surprised the 3DS did not get any support for rumble.

Re: Talking Point: 3DS Is 11 Years Old, And Our Eyes Still Feel Strange

tadams587

Rumor has it Gamefreak asked Nintendo not to put a mic in the Nintendo Switch to prevent people from abusing the move chatter...

I would still love both a mic & camera on my Nintendo Switch Pro, even if Gamefreak just has the feature removed or reworked for online play. The decision enforces too many limitations on other games' features.

Re: Apparently We're Getting More Info On The Final Fantasy IX Show This Week

tadams587

@Dr_Lugae Censoring
Asking for content non-lewd content to be censored, is like asking someone to save us from our own naughty thoughts. The scene was depicted in a way we basically use our imagination to to make it lewd. I see no reason to protect my or someone else's kid from that level of tease. If I did shared whoever's logic is making today's censorship decisions, I wouldn't let my kids out the house.

I can say the same with the pocky & rocky reshrined game. If is not lewd content, then don't flatten every chest in a Kid's game & erase every cleavage line.

I get the feeling whoever the investor that currently has the highest say at the moment doesn't know how to decide to take criticism & ignore others, when dealing with other cultures, while making a profit. That type of person will always dumb his decisions to either

1) Over saturate the market with censorship, while caving to a idiot's need for a "safe space" on every & all corners of the market.
Or
2) Not be involved enough

It is very stupid to say its okay for "grand theft auto", a game from a western studio, to remain unchanged; but games from a Japanese Studio such as Xenoblade, Final Fantasy, & Pocky & Rocky to get censored is insane.

Also censorship should be only when "needed" in kids games. Not so much in Teen games. Mature and Adult games should Defiantly not have to be censored like they are made for 8 year olds. They aren't. If a kid feels they need a "safe space" away from such games, then the parents should step in & say to them, "Idiot this game wasn't made for you in mind. Its not Nintendo's or Sony's fault, Its your own fault for playing this when you know your not supposed to. Working Adults need their own games to play on their free time. You want a safe space, then you are grounded for playing this content behind my back."

That's the only safe space mindset both kids & the paying adults/main customers will benefit from.

Re: Video: The Switch eShop Is Bad, And It's Making Us Sad

tadams587

The eshop needs to upgrade to allow Players to upgrade their respective game versions to either the Deluxe or Ultimate Version. You gotta re-buy the game if you don't have the correct version. I can no longer preorder any enhanced version of a game in this economy, only the standard editions.

Re: These Two New Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Locations Raise Plenty Of Questions

tadams587

I'm holding off for the Moment on buying Xenoblade Chronicles 3. The last couple of games that got censored for the west said something about, "changed due to hatred for the female form in the West". Who the hell is representing us? Sony's PlayStation is for Kids Only. The Nintendo Switch is for Everyone, the games themselves aren't. Nintendo needs to keep the simple & transparent way to approach censorship, "Allow people of all ages to follow the ESRB with clarity". If the western WOKE community is continued to be allowed to Micro Manage every game regardless of the already transparent Teen to Adult ESRB Rating; AND/OR if they also decide to continue to flatten every chest and cover every slight cleavage line within "kid games" that have no lewd content; then I may have to stop buying Nintendo Games, just like I stopped supporting Sony PlayStation Games.

There is a correct way to approach Censorship with Transparency & there is a wrong way to do it. Nintendo will now be at risk of losing several customers. I can't believe Pocky & Rocky, a kid friendly game got censored like it is. I'll give them till 2023 to clean up their act.

Re: Meet The Switch Controller That Promises 'No Drifting, Ever'

tadams587

Great. How’s the D-pad?

1) If it can’t pass both the Tetris test, or the Super Mario World crotch-fly test, then I’m not interested.
2) Will it have any kind of rumble? If not I’m not interested. It should be standard, even if it’s not Nintendo’s HD rumble. Officially licensed controllers without it are a joke.
Extra) Will it have a headphone jack?
Extra) Will there be a version with SNES style X & Y buttons? It doesn’t have to be the same color, I’m just very attached to the feel of them. If no, that’s ok, I can probably find a way to mod it. I don’t care for controller buttons that share the same color as the rest of the controller anyhow.

If at the very least 1 & 2 are a yes, I’d probably buy it, as it is standard. Although, at the moment I have no reason to buy it, it also has a headphone jack.

At the moment I’m using an 8bitdo snes controller, but will occasionally swap with the officially licensed PDP controller that has a headphone jack. I hate the PDP controller’s D-pad both on Tetris and Super Mario World, the D-pad sucks. I also hate that there is no rumble, despite it being wired only. If I had to choose between rumble and motion controls on a regular controller I’d choose the rumble . If it’s needed, I usually use the Joycons for motion controls. Although, fishing in ocarina of time could be made more interesting with motion controls & rumble. Would there be a Game Cube style variant? It would be nice for Smash Bros Ultimate.

Re: Talking Point: As Switch Hardware Sales Slow, How Long Can Nintendo Delay 'Switch 2'?

tadams587

The current Switch doesn't have today's expected standard for color pallet, neither in handheld mode or in Dock mode.

The Full/Limited TV option in the Nintendo Switch's TV settings is just a way to increase compatibility among the Various TV Brands.

Another way you can tell is the OLED colors don’t appear quite right when in full bright console mode. When in full bright mode it’s best to turn the Vivid colors to standard Colors.

Comparing Nintendo’s Sonic Colors game to the version release every where else is another way to tell the color pallet is not up to today’s standard.

Yes, the current Switch can play several Gen 8 Games, but not all of the games will share the same color pallet as their other console & PC ports. The Switch’s color pallet is on par with the PS3 era. Both the limited color pallet & limited memory read speed speed are why it is considered to be in the Same Console Generation as the Wii-U, despite it being an upgrade of it.

We do need an upgrade with-in 2 years. Keeping the Native HD & implementing an built-in up-scalper is pivotal to Nintendo achieving the necessary memory read speed buff, while both keeping both data sizes down & maintaining the hybrid handheld form format.

Nintendo paved the way for handheld gaming, yet I do often play my Nintendo Switch in TV mode. However, the day Nintendo decides to walk away from the handheld form factor, I’d probably turn to full time Labtop gaming instead. As a Kid I was heavily invested in Nintendo’s Handheld gaming. Now as an Adult, having the alternative option to play from TV mode is also extremely pivotal to my life.

I will never buy another Sony console again. They decided to open their arms to many complaints from children about games that aren’t advertised for them, and have shaped their business model around it. To make matters worst I now see their influence have started to effect the decisions of games that released on other consoles. “Changes implemented due to the Hatred for the Female Form in the West”, what a load of crap. Especially in titles rated Teen, Mature, and Adult. Yet, how did grand theft auto and God of War, games developed by Western Studios get a pass!? Today’s investors need to grow a back bone and just accept “This product may not be appealing to everyone, but may sell very well, amongst it’s “Targeted Customers”. If it passes the established rating system, then don’t censor it. I understand censoring Risky Content on children’s games, in fact I agree with it. But censoring any slight cleavage and/or flattening every chest despite no Risky Content, even in kids games is promotes a suggestive body standard which is hypocritical & stupid. To Censor Teen, mature, and Adult Games is just wrong and it’s an insult to people who are employed, which are also many of whom is both purchasing the games and the “Targeted Audience” of Teen, Mature, and Adult Games.

Re: Video: Here's How To Change The Screen Settings On Your Nintendo Switch OLED

tadams587

First of all, the screen looks odd because you are the using the default white theme.

Second of all, the OLED’s Auto-full brightness setting has been fixed with a patch.

Third of all, the correct way to set your Nintendo Switch’s brightness settings: go to a dim lit room & find the “manual”brightness zone that is on par with the auto-brightness no longer changing brightness upon turning it on in the same dim lit room. That should be used saved as the default for dim or dark rooms., with auto-brightness off. In well lit areas, do not change your preferred setting, as in these areas only the brightest setting would help, the Auto-brightness should only be used to turn the brightness to full in these areas, which it does in well lit areas/outdoors.

My suggestion:
When playing in dim to dark areas, use your preferred “manually set” brightness settings with Vivid turned on, to take full advantage of the OLED.
When playing in well lit areas/outdoors, use Auto brightness with Standard Colors on, while not touching your preferred set setting.

Re: Atlus Wants To Know If You Would Like More Nintendo Switch Games

tadams587

@Aerona Unfortunately, when it comes to re-releases investors seem to have a lot more influence than the Developers these days. An example of this is when Monolith had reported they had shown interest interested in porting Xenosaga to the Nintendo Switch, but was declined by investors.Final Fantasy, .hack games, & Xenoblade are selling on the Nintendo Switch, yet investors believe Xenosaga won’t.

These surveys, Social Media, & the company’s official website are the only way to show investors there may be a higher demand than they know.

All you need to do is have 1 person ask there 3 to ten friends, and them to do ask their 3 to ten friends to politely message or post their 1-3 game wishlist to the companies’ email and/or spam their social media outlet with it for 3-6 months (1-2 businesses quarters).

Everybody should do this for Atlus to release the To Love-Ru vita games on the Nintendo Switch, and for Monolith to get the support to re-release Xenosaga on the Nintendo Switch.

Re: Atlus Wants To Know If You Would Like More Nintendo Switch Games

tadams587

I marked most things that asked for what console I'm interested in buying for with Nintendo Switch.I also told them I own both a PC & a Nintendo Switch. Not going to bother putting any Sony or Xbox detail down, as they seem out of touch with Adult Customers. At the end there was a mini-teaser for soul hackers 2 coming in August to everything but the Nintendo Switch, and then they asked for optional comments after that. On optional comments I asked them to translate & port the To Love-Ru Vita games to the Nintendo Switch.

Re: Zelda: Twilight Princess HD Dev Would "Love" To Bring The Game To Switch

tadams587

IT would be great for Twilight Princess to come to the Nintendo Switch HD, specially since I can't make full use of my Wolf Link Amiibo in Breath of The Wind Without it. I'll buy any & all past, present, and future Zelda ports.

I am angry at Nintendo Switch Online at the ports on there that I can't re-purchase. Having online access for my Pokémon Games is enough for me to subscribe.

Re: Talking Point: As Switch Hardware Sales Slow, How Long Can Nintendo Delay 'Switch 2'?

tadams587

@Pichuka97 No reason to believe it wont be backward compatible. It is compatible with PS4 code, so is Sony's PS5. So Why wouldn't it be? I Just hope they don't take too long to replace the current Switch Lite. I'm not a Switch Lite User. However, I am aware how the cheapest alternative on the Market can massively effect both Investor & Dev decisions on software releases, especially late with-in a consoles lifetime. With-in a year of the 'New' Nintendo Switch 2 getting released, they must drop & replace the current Switch Lite from their production line.

Re: Talking Point: As Switch Hardware Sales Slow, How Long Can Nintendo Delay 'Switch 2'?

tadams587

@tatchy

By support 4K natively, I hope you mean "can upscale the image to a resolution for 4k TVs, without an adapter". I don't want games to be in native 4K for a hybrid system, as the data sizes are too big. Although, I would like to see improvement with memory read speeds in both handheld mode and in dock mode.

Due to battery limitations, if I had to choose between 1080p in handheld mode or an increase in read speed in handheld mode, I'd want the latter to be prioritized for the 'NEW' Nintendo Switch 2.

Re: Talking Point: As Switch Hardware Sales Slow, How Long Can Nintendo Delay 'Switch 2'?

tadams587

@PhhhCough Yes we want a higher color pallet mainly for third party Devs. Though not the only reason, it is one of the reasons some have taken a pass & not developed for it yet. I play many games on my Nintendo Switch, from both Nintendo & other Devs. Although my Mario Games might not benefit from it, Several other games would.

Look at Sonic Colors, it looks OK on the Switch, but better on consoles with a Higher Color Pallet. The 30fps isn't the only problem for Sonic Colors.

Re: Talking Point: As Switch Hardware Sales Slow, How Long Can Nintendo Delay 'Switch 2'?

tadams587

I'm still laughing at the idiots who bought the 1st battery conservative release. They are so angry that they wasted their money on it, they decided to put out videos telling people not to buy the next revision, the OLED.

I waited & now I have both an OLED and an OG v2 Switch, "Erista". An Erista being the 1st silent hardware revision that was Nintendo's failed attempt to stop hackers. It may have failed to do what it intended, but it did also have an very slight improvement with how the Switch reads memory.

The OLED looks amazing...It ALMOST, I repeat almost, makes up for the Nintendo Switch's limited color pallet. We still need a Nintendo Switch Revision with a higher color pallet, perhaps even HDR in Dock Mode. The 'NEW' Nintendo Switch 2 must have this feature of a higher color pallet.

Re: Nintendo Reportedly Expecting 10% Decrease In Switch Sales Due To Supply Issues

tadams587

I have both my OG model B Nintendo Switch and my OLED Nintendo Switch... I'm good until they release the " 'New' Pro".

-By model b, I mean the very 1st hardware revision, the one that failed to stop Hacked Switches. It still has the same OG chip. While it had failed them it did have a very slight improvement with storage. I forget exactly how...the original information on it is buried, as searching "revision" would result in several articles on the Newer, Better Battery Performance CPU Models.

Re: Feature: 24 Game Boy Advance Games We'd Love To See Added To Nintendo Switch Online

tadams587

Didn't they already re-release the golden sun games for the Wii-U?
Why not just give us that version?

I'd Love for them to give us the Mario 64 DS Wii-U version on the Nintendo Switch.

As well as Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars from the SNES Classic.
They wont release it for my 3DS, then why not the Nintendo Switch?

Where are the Gantlet Games on the NES App? can we get the collection released with up to 4 players?
Who owns the 8-bit Gantlet Games?
I'm not interested in the 3D versions, just the ones I played a ton as a kid.

Any more News of GEX or Sonic legacy games or remakes?

If Chocobo GP can survive on the Switch, then a Chao Garden and supported games can definably survive.

Why does nobody want my money?

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Switch Online, Game Pass, And 'New' PS Plus - How Do They Compare?

tadams587

I don't care about a games subscription. I just want to pay money per game, preferably physical, digital if nessesary. I would of bought the subscription without the Limited Timed games.
I don't buy into Sony America, as they seem to want their own independent rating system, and don't care for Xbox either.

I play Nintendo, Steam on my Labtop, and Kingdom Hearts on the Epic Games Store. I would of bought that on the Nintendo Switch, but its a cloud game.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Delayed To Spring 2023

tadams587

@RubyCarbuncle

i'm more mad that no ports have been announced for the holiday season of 2022.
No Mario Galaxy 2, No Twilight Princess, No Wind Waker, No legacy 3D Sonic, No Golden Sun.

I, like several other people, did not buy the Wii U. I bought the 3DS and the Nintendo Switch. Its got an extremally larger player count than the Wii U, yet there arn't enough ports.
