Re: Nintendo President Says 20 Million Switch Target Failed Due To "Insufficient" Efforts To Convey Its Appeal

ottospooky

Well talk about falling on your sword... the ambition was lofty, and Nintendo should probably award themselves a relatively hardy pat on the back for their efforts. Maybe they should be a bit more organised with regulating regular software releases but they’ve got some big hitters out there in a short space of time.
Also ‘we plan to sell more hardware/software’ is stating the obvious a tad.

Re: Piranha Plant Is Now Available To Purchase As Paid-For Smash Ultimate DLC

I jumped through the hoops and didn’t get a code. My email I registered on my Nintendo with is no longer accessible to me. Yeah my fault I know but the only way to change my linked email address was have an email delivered to my address I couldn’t access - no other way to change it. So Nintendo’s archaic online infrastructure has cost me a fiver.

Re: Random: Looks Like Amazon Didn't Get The Memo About Metroid Prime 4

I don’t think I even remember seeing any evidence that MP4 was even planned for this year. And that Liam Robinson chap has alluded to the game not even being planned for this year.
I’m sure there are many games due out this year and that the whole schedule wasn’t poised on the release of this one game...
But then it is Nintendo

Re: New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe Launch Sales Were Actually 56% Higher Than On Wii U, Not 24.8%

ottospooky

If people don’t want Wii U ports I’ll suggest they don’t buy them.
They’re being used to plug schedules, they’re not affecting resources being used on new games and they’re very popular. When you see them inoffensively sitting on the shelves in your gaming store, or you see them up for preorder online, acknowledge their existence for a few moments and move on with your life. It’s very easy

Re: Future Business Shift Could See Nintendo Move Away From Home Console Development

ottospooky

They could abandon home consoles and just release new handheld consoles.
I mean, why not? I’m almost in my mid-30s. I have no time to play games on home console at home.
I commute two hours a day by train and take the game with me.
I’m far more likely to play handheld while a TV Is streaming Netflix in the background. People regularly ‘second screen’ nowadays and I do this with Swich. With graphics catching up to home console quality in handheld machines the TV just seems redundant. Bring it on.

Re: Campaign Begins To Get Terminal Cancer Patient The Chance To Play Smash Bros. Ultimate

ottospooky

The outpouring of ‘why should they’ within these comments is surprising and a bit grim. what’s wrong with giving a dying man his last wish of playing the new Smash? Organisations like the Make a Wish foundation fulfil similar wishes. Lucasfilm showed an early cut of Star Wars to someone who was terminally ill.
Pre-release demos of the game exist and are used at events like E3 and EGS; this guy’s wish wouldn’t exactly be difficult to fulfill

@Alucard83 great for the fans and I include myself in that! Love the series! This one just feels like a re-tread of old ground a little more than the rest of them. I think it’s because we haven’t had that long since the last games and because I still play Wii U Smash quite regularly. But I’m getting it of course. Maybe we’ve just had Smash overkill in the last two or three days!!

Re: Hands On: Settling The Score In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

@Snaplocket it’s new. They’ve made many tweaks - hell, 25+ minites’ worth of tweaks!
In fact, that part of the presentation felt like a video of patch notes, IMO. But they mostly feel like refinements to me.
Don’t get me wrong, game looks awesome. I’m just not filled with the sense of excitement I have been previously. But that’s not a bad thing.

Re: Hands On: Settling The Score In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

This feels in one way like a ‘best of’ the series, even down to its name - ‘Ulitmate’ and an advanced port of the last version. It doesn’t feel that new to me, it doesn’t feel as radical as Melee or even Brawl. Maybe it doesn’t feel that long since the last iterations. For these reasons my excitement isn’t at optimal levels just yet.

Re: Another World Targets 25th June Release On Nintendo Switch

It seems like Dom gets left to write the stories no one else at NL is interested in, and which Dom doesn’t know a lot about. So it’s a quick read of whatever press release came out, some quick Wikipedia skimming for background, fry it in a pan with some dull journalistic tropes, some key buzz words like ‘seminal’ and serve it up with zero proof reading or fact checking.
