It's safe to say that SNES action-platformer Another World has featured on a fair few platforms over the years - including versions on Wii U and 3DS - but it's yet to finally collect the set with Nintendo Switch. Well, the wait is almost over with news that Another World - 20th Anniversary Edition will be making the leap to your beloved hybrid machine on 25th June.
Developer The Digital Lounge has teamed-up with publisher Dotemu to bring an updated take on Eric Crahi's 27-year-old opus to Switch, with Crahi himself involved in the project during its development. The seminal platformer tells the tale of a young physicist who tears a whole in the fabric of reality and is transported to an alien world filled with all manner of dangers.
Will you be adding Another World to your collection come 25th June? Or have you played it enough to feel another port is overkill? Share your thoughts below...

Playing this for the first time on the Super Nintendo back in the day blew my teenage mind. Looking forward to playing the update.
"SNES action-platformer"? It was a port from Amiga
I think I have the 20th Anniversary Edition somewhere on a DVD. Also if they waited 3 more years we'd be getting the 30th Anniversary Edition.
Not sure how much the game holds up today, although it's still unique in a few respects. Particularly the opening sequence.
Hopefully, at E3, we learn about more NEW games, coming to Switch!
I will always remember this as an Amiga game, first and foremost. I am more looking forward to Flashback, I think.
Releasing on the anniversary of Michael Jackson passing away... 9 years, wow.
... yep, day 1.
Will get it for the switch.
Will get this again. Never played the SNES version, but the Wii U and 3DS versions are same as Amiga version from what I remember.
Flashback is also out next week according to UK eShop placeholder
Well they released it on every other platform, might as well do the Switch now.
Oh look Dom being Dom again. Not a SNES game, was ported to SNES later. This is silly at this point.
@Menchi187 to be fair it was on the SNES so it was a SNES game. He doesn’t claim that it was the original system. Don’t know why the history of where it came from originally is that pressing
@Mr_Pepperami It's usually down to Dom's horrible reporting on pretty much everything. Look at how many people savage him in almost all his articles.
@Menchi187 don’t get me wrong, the article is full of mistakes but I just wouldn’t list that one as a major one as it was ,technically ,a SNES game.
Completely boundary breaking at the original release, and still a great experience.
@Dom his name is Eric CHAHI, not Eric Crahi.
I will also purchase this the second it shows up (although I will always refer to it by its NA release name Out Of This World).
@Mr_Pepperami I guess that's an opinion. After all, I wouldn't count Dark Souls as a "Nintendo Switch hack and slash" when it comes out later this year.
Got this on Wii U after forgetting what it was like back on SNES. It is not a very enjoyable game.
Oh look @Menchi187 being Menchi again.
Not another Wii U port!
I’ll consider grabbing it if it’s on sale for $2 or $3 at some point. I have it on a few platforms at this point, probably PC and Xbox, so not sure I’d pay much to own it on the Switch but I could part with a few dollars to own it there too. Given it can easily be won in a sitting I wouldn’t want to pay more though.
Worth a visit for those that have never played it though. I think it holds up well.
Hope we get a physical edition. Will go nice next to Flashback.
Played this already in so many platforms (last one on Android TV) Always fun but I actually finished one time, the fist one. Seems too expensive for almost the same experience.
It seems like Dom gets left to write the stories no one else at NL is interested in, and which Dom doesn’t know a lot about. So it’s a quick read of whatever press release came out, some quick Wikipedia skimming for background, fry it in a pan with some dull journalistic tropes, some key buzz words like ‘seminal’ and serve it up with zero proof reading or fact checking.
Truly awesome on the Amiga when it came out. I enjoyed playing it on my Mac again a few years ago. Unfortunately, I see no reason to purchase this again.
Honestly like the guy writing the article, I too play this on the SNES first, I had never heard or seen the console that was name after the Mexican girlfriend.
Insert Game Grumps reference "My Caruba."
"who tears a whole in the fabric of reality"
Dom, you're tearing a hole in adequate proof-reading. These aren't meant to be rude digs - a good portion of us are asking you to proof-read your articles. Eventually, we're all just going to move to a site that prioritizes eloquent journalism.
@Hordak
Same here. I first played this a long time ago, and that's the title I'll always remember.
Had it on Wii U. Will pick up again on Switch. The game is only like 20/25 mins long but it's so rewarding. Bet it looks gorgeous on the Switch screen too.
Played it on PC in the 90s. The intro was great for the time, but I found it boring after that.
This was super cheap on 3DS. I picked it up as it made a huge impression on me back in the day. It was still very strange and felt great... But I don't feel the need to get it again again.
AMIGA, and the opening, was EPIC. Finished it. Was Haaaaaaaaaaaard
