This year's holiday lineup looks incredible, and should really give it a nice boost. I do feel it needs a big 1st party title in the vein of Breath of the Wild or Metroid Prime, to appeal to that audience.
I'm loving the game so far! The story mode and buttery smooth gameplay are top notch! My only issues that I hope they fix are the characters' "glowing hair" and lighting in general on characters, which often seems flat. Other than that, brilliant fighting game!
@RyanSilberman Oh! I get the frustration of NetherRealms approach to this aspect, for sure. It's definitely shady. I just feel like more and more nowadays, the community is focused on pretty much everything BUT how fun the game is. I guess I just long for days past... when we'd be exchanging button combos for Scorpion, instead of in game currency.
Oh my gosh...no disrepect to anyone at all...but I think it's sad that our gaming community focuses on stuff like this, or the supposed SJW agenda, or download size...instead of the game itself! It seems like an awesome game with a great roster. Play it! Have fun for goodness sake.
This has been Nintendo's policy for as long as I can remember...and rightly so. It's their IP and they can do pretty much whatever they want with it. I don't get why anyone would spend so much time on a project that is clearly just going to be taken down. Why not use your aweaome talent to create your own new IP instead?
I'm cool with this. I think I'm finally coming to terms with the fact that gaming is changing, much like music, computer software, videos, to a digital form. I'll still fondly remember the good ole days before patches and dlc, but still happy to be playing.
I'm still buying them! I bought FF9 for Switch at $20, which initially seemed high, but has been worth every penny. These RE prices do seem high, but it doesn't take away from how much I'll enjoy playing them on the go and on the TV.
Whew! This game looks awesome! I really would much prefer a physical copy though...I've never imported a game before, but I may hafta see about getting the European release. Do I have to set up another eshop account or any other changes to play an imported game?
Retro working on it is great and all, but several of the key members involved in the original series left the studio many years ago to start Armature. Sorry...just bitter at the moment.
@electrolite77 Thank you for putting the full discussion, it paints a MUCH clearer image. He's talking about how Nintendo has adapted over time, from at one time offering playing cards to now making consoles. And they will continue to adapt as needed.
This game sounds great and the negatives mentioned don't strike me as bad. I don't particularly care for hand holding in an exploration style game. And I like the character's name being what it is, the creator's daughter and inspiration for making the game in the first place. Def picking it up!
This looks awesome! I was totally not expecting to love this...but I love this! I like how it's a bit darker and edgier in tone, it reminds me a bit of "Who Framed Roger Rabbit."
This looks really great! I hadn't even heard of this before, and sadly probably wouldn't have even watched the trailer had SquareEnix not been involved. Whew! It's too easy for amazing games to slip by on the Switch with the amount of them being released each week! (Though I'm definitely not complaining, keep em coming!)
Keep em coming Panic Button!!! I've enjoyed your work, and am thrilled we're getting some of these titles that often skip Nintendo hardware. Many thanks for stepping up to thr challenge!
Sorry, but I totally disagree with this approach of..."Since I can't purchase this retro game on my current system, I'll just steal it." For the past 11 years you have been able to purchase from a huge library of VC games on the Wii. With that opportunity closing, it still leaves the WiiU, 3DS, Nes Classic and Snes Classic as current viable options. Justify piracy all you want, but the IP holders of these retro games deserve to be paid when you play their games. I really don't see how a Nintendo fan site can seriously condone piracy.
Yes!!!! I own it on WiiU but have really wanted to double dip for the Switch version. I was hoping a physical release was coming, so I kept holding off. Great news!!
Awesome news!!!! A truly unexpected but welcome surprise! Much thanks to Bethesda and Panic Button for bringing it to Switch. Now just to wait for preorders to open...
This presentation skyrocketed my excitement for the game. Confirmation of classic mode, new characters, tons of stages, clever new modes...whew. I think this game will definitely sell a ton of Switches!
@Agramonte I've been eyeing God Wars, it looks great. How does it compare to other tactics games like Fire Emblem and FF Tactics? Would you say the storyline is well done? How about the combat?
@Thaswizz Agreed! I really really really hope we see Final Fantasy Tactics come to Switch, hopefully one more serious in nature akin to the one on PSone. The gameplay of the gba and ds ones were great of course, but I missed the darker themes from the first one. Also, this seems like the perfect system to revive Vandal Hearts!
Yes!!!!! I was hoping they would announce this! I never played the original, so this is super exciting. I hope they bring over the rest of the series as well!
At first I was bummed we didn't get the sega collection they announced for other systems...But now with M2 at the helm, I am really excited to see what they can do! The work they put into the 3d classics range was incredible and brought new life into those games. Things like HD rumble, split joycon support, etc... for games like Phantasy Star or their arcade games could be really great.
This is such great news!!! Does anyone know if it's going to be a standard physical release also? Or is it just the limited edition that will be physical?
@Tyranexx Oh! Both Chrono and Bravely are great choices. Also, if you've never played it, I highly recommend Radiant Historia. It's one of the best JRPGs in my humble opinion.
I think I'm close to the end of "I am Setsuna", which I have really enjoyed so far! I also just started "Alliane Alive" on 3ds, so I'm knee deep in JRPG goodness!
I think their approach has been working really well so far on the Switch. A large portion of the games that get released look at the very least "solid" to me. It's such a huge improvement in quality compared to the 3ds and WiiU indie releases.
One thing I hope that gets improved is the way we're able to find all of these great games on the Switch. I have a hard time keeping up with everything that's released each week, and I feel there are alot of titles I miss out on. Thankfully sites like NL keep me in the loop!
Wow! The game is already at the top of my Most Wanted list, but this Special Edition just looks fantastic. I hope it's not too expensive, as I'd love that soundtrack. The music and art in this game are just breathtaking.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Good points... I agree. I also think since Mario Kart 8 DX is a port, and at such an early state in this console's lifespan, we could see a new "Kart/Racing Franchise" begin on the Switch. Maybe one that sees Nintendo utilize all of their IP as in Smash. Along with that, a new line of amiibo of their stable of characters in karts. Mario Kart began incorporating some other IP already, but I wonder if it might make more sense to start a new franchise instead.
Awesome news! It looked like such a cool title for PS4 and I kept hoping it might make its' way to the Switch! Now hopefully we can get a Western release...
This is AWESOME news!!! So basically, I'm getting a 5% back cash reward! And I don't have to pay some annual membership fee for it either...that's so cool. I definitely prefer this style of reward system. Thanks Nintendo!!! On a side note, I wonder if the Paid Online Service coming will add extra perks like, 2x gold coins or something like that.
I was unsure about whether or not I'd double dip on this until I played the demo. The voice acting is really well done, and the new event illustrations add extra oomph to the scenes. I also wanted to compare the graphics, so I immediately played the DS version after the demo. I was really impressed with the step up in the 3DS version. IMO, it's comparable to HD versions of last gen games (such as Twilight Princess HD on WiiU). They did a great job with this enhanced port, and I HIGHLY recommend it to all JRPG fans.
Night in the Woods looks really intriguing! I've also been on the fence about double dipping on Radiant Historia since I already own the DS version. Hopefully the demo will help me decide!
(BTW, for any JRPG fans out there who have never played Radiant Historia, I highly recommend the game. It's one of my favorites and deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger)
