Last month, the internet was set alight with the news that Capcom's iconic Resident Evil 4 would be receiving the remake treatment (after a few leaks, mind!) with the stunning RE Engine. That particular game isn't coming to Switch sadly (though we'll remain optimistic for whatever the consoles successor will bring), so unfortunately we won't be experiencing the likes of Ramon Salazar in glorious next-gen graphics on Nintendo's system. We'll keep dreaming though!
One fan on Twitter, however, has gone in the complete opposite direction by commencing work on a Resident Evil 4 "DEmake", effectively taking the characters and environments from the fourth mainline entry and bringing the visuals in line with Resident Evil 2. Complete with static camera angles and an animated loading screen, the resulting presentation is incredibly convincing! The area in question looks like the underground walkway that directly precedes the first cinematic encounter with Bitores "Big Cheese" Mendez.
If nothing else, it's making us wish that Capcom would bring the classic trilogy (and Code Veronica) over to the Switch. Just recently, Resident Evil: Directors Cut was added to the PS Plus Premium service, allowing the PS1 classic to be played natively on PS5 consoles. If they can have it, why can't we, Capcom?!

You can, of course, play the original Resident Evil 4 on the Switch with lovely HD graphics and all the extra expansions included, but as pointed out by the lovely Alex in the below video, this particular version is missing something quite crucial.
What do you think of the RE4 DEmake? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

Resident Evil 4 Remake on Switch is looking great I see!
Loved the control for Resident Evil on the Wii, everything felt so natural and easy to do. Sure at first you had to practice your aim, but that was easy to get used to.
Interesting. I still play the first three games pretty much annually. I would love for someone to remake RE2 again, but in the style of the gamecube RE1 remake. Fixed cameras etc., just with those gorgeous updated pre-rendered visuals.
Brings back memories of playing RE2. Had to borrow a classmate's copy to play and he only had the Claire Disc. Also, it was my cousin's PSX.
It looks like it captures the old gameplay style perfectly but having got into the series at number 4 Iβd find it hard to go backwards from there.
Iβve just started playing RE4 VR on Oculus Quest. Itβs quite a workout!
"it's making us wish that Capcom would bring the classic trilogy (and Code Veronica) over to the Switch"
YES please! Gamecube versions including Zero would be great as well, but the originals have a charm all of their own.
I still can't for the life of me fathom any reason why Resident Evil 4 needs a modern remake. Unlike RE2 & 3, it was the first game in a more "modern" style... and its had several remasters with ever improving graphics already. The only thing that makes even less sense to me is ANOTHER remake of Last of Us.
This project on the other hand, is a very cool idea. I'm not the only one that admrie RE4 but also feels something was lost when switching from fixed camera angles recreating the B-Movie feel. For me, Code Veronica is the best the series ever got, precisely because it kept the winning formula of the previous games, but used the "next generation" tech to make the camera angles and lighting/shadows real time. Great story too, and far wider variety of settings/locations than in the cmparitively cramped and simple Nemesis. (The devs actually said that CV was the true RE3, but Sony had bought the exclusivity to the name. Nemesis is technically just a spinoff of RE2).
@Vix I laughed, then cried, because its true
Very fond memories of playing this game over the years. May be tempted to get in on this
you meant to put "current-gen" there is no such thing as "next-gen"
Not so sure there is much point to this anymore, considering Capcom is working on a Resident Evil 4 remake.
The only thing RE4 on switch is missing is ammo drops. Literally the only version of resident evil 4 where blowing away every enemy is not an option. Itβs half the fun and undoable. Why.
Great demake contains one room and the only sentence we see is badly written.
See you at 2035 when it's completed.
How exactly is this Nintendo news?
Catch me when Capcom learns and brings over re1-CV to switch.
I like all 3 styles of resident evil the classic fixed cameras the 3rd person & the 1st person
We need a GBA or DS demake not a playstation one! Playstation haven't age well. Also i loved these games but i can't get used to fixed cameras now. They are terrible. Dino Crisis 2 got the worst camera ever. Its unplayable
Ah Biohazard EspaΓ±a. I first happened on their channel a year or two ago, when searching for Resident Evil content. Around 90 seconds into viewing their livestream, I was treated to unskippable ads. Thinking that this could potentially turn new viewers away, I posted in the chat and was treated to a tirade of abuse by the channel owner, and I never went back. Great times.
Makes me hungry for a JILL SANDWICH
Wii version absolutely best version.
Complete waste of time.
