I honestly thought Space Invaders would've been the more appropriate 3rd party property to add to this collection first, considering it was the original "killer app" for the system.
But then that just makes me wonder if they're planning to have more of this sort of outreach in the future.
I can't see what makes this worthy of a $20 price tag. I mainly see one main gameplay experience and little else to supplement it. I'll bet a free demo wouldn't be a far cry from the full game in terms of content — folks would see nearly everything and probably have their fill of the game without ever paying for it.
Fast Fusion is a more engaging game at $15, and it has more to show off in both presentation and gameplay modes. And you can even play it in handheld mode.
Oh good. Can't wait to pay $10-20 extra to upgrade to the enhanced "Switch 2 Edition" versions of my games. It worked so well for the Wii U's Virtual Console library...
I never maxed the number of slots for inventory; that would require more Korok seeds... And I hadn't finished the Master Sword trials.
But I already beat Ganon and had the special ending, and I got the Master Cycle. I even went to all the shrines. So I'm not sure if it's worth jumping back in for those things.
I'm wondering if you can rearrange some of the HUD to better use the space for the matrix itself. Like moving the score and timer above or below it, or altering the queue positions.
I remember the last time Sunsoft "was back," all the way in 2009. The Wii saw some of their games come to VC, and "Blaster Master Overdrive" was a thing. If there was anything else to it beyond that, I don't know what it would've been.
I feel like they've still been around some way or another, mostly in Inti Creates' "Blaster Master Zero" trilogy and a few guest appearances in other games like Penguin Wars. If this really is a ramping up, it'll be interesting to see.
Especially if their logo featured Aero the Acro-Bat again...
@dugan Picross 3D was developed by HAL. They seem to be preoccupied with Kirby at the moment.
Plus I'm not 100% certain it would be at home on the Switch considering its reliance on a stylus. Even with handheld-only play I don't think it's as easy to chip away at the little blocks with a finger.
I feel like I'm the only one that doesn't care whether there's a lives system in the Anniversary version. I never really felt like lives were that valuable an asset in most of the games, especially in Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
I guess some folks just want to relive the Game Over screen...?
Wish there was a little more customization for it. You can change the attire and put on glasses, but no changes to facial detail or hats. But I've had no difficulty finding myself in a crowd so far.
@EriXz I can only guess Ring Fit appealed to the broader demographic they normally went after during the Wii/DS era. Imagine the kinds of folks who played Wii Sports on the regular and try to imagine how many of them would be into a Metroid game.
I'm more curious to see the ratio of Western to Japanese consumers for Metroid Dread, and whether it's gotten any more enticing in Japan.
I skipped on the OLED mainly because it was just a regular Switch with a nicer screen and a better kickstand. If it allowed games to run smoother or decrease load times, it would have been an easier sell. Perhaps that's wishful thinking for a Switch follow-up though...
If they're gonna pull anything from Smash, it better be an expanded level of gameplay customization. Disable or enable specific items, not just vague options. Turn coins on or off. Choose to store 1 or 2 items. Decide the number of laps, and the number of racers. Make a number of teams, or every racer for themselves.
It would be disappointing if we couldn't make racing in the game more personal. Let us try out out own ideas for fun. That was something Sakurai let players do with a number of his projects, like Kirby Air Ride and Meteos. I feel like games such as Mario Kart and Mario Party could benefit from that level of flexibility too.
Looks like it has a decent set of shmups on it, with Raiden and some of the Toaplan titles on there.
Part of me is a little surprised (and a little disappointed) that they didn't take a page from the Egret II Mini and offer a rotating screen to make it an expanded version of the first release, rather than a separate one.
So no Transfer Pak for Mario Tennis's unlockables and custom character feature, and no Controller Pak for any game that saved through that instead of on-cartridge memory.
That seems like it could be an issue for third-party titles.
The money for a Switch OLED is already being put towards a Steam Deck, which seemed like a more interesting investment. If it offered more than a nicer screen and a better kickstand, I'd have certainly looked into it.
Interestingly, Xevious has a feature in the Arcade Archive release that lets you enable targets showing where the hidden Sol citadels and Special Flags are located, along with a display showing a difficulty number that increases and/or decreases depending on what happens in the game.
I've only seen this same feature offered in the DS Namco Museum, but they seem to be going a little further with these BaNam releases. The Pac-Man one even has toggles to enable or disable the Level 256 kill screen, and to change the names of the Japanese ghosts to different "nicknames"....but not the ones you expect.
I want to know if the Flip Grip will fit the new machine, or if a new variation will have to be made. Still my favorite peripheral, I hope it won't require a new version to be manufactured.
(Edit: Sounds like a new version would have to be manufactured. Boo.)

Re: Review: Arcade Archives 2: Ridge Racer (Switch 2) - Still A Thrill, More Than 30 Years Later
@KociolekDoSyta Well, Arcade Archives 1 Ridge Racer is 2 bucks cheaper, and the only big difference is a missing "Time Attack" mode.
Re: Want To 100% 'Welcome Tour'? You'll Need To Cough Up For Some Accessories

Re: Nintendo Is Expanding Switch Online's NES Library With Another Classic
They had a "Tetris & Dr. Mario" on SNES. Why wasn't that introduced as well? Even that had a multiplayer mode.
Re: Block Meets Block In New Minecraft X Tetris Collaboration
@hippydave The Tetris Company refers to them as "Tetriminos." It's apparently the official term for the tetrominos in their games.
Re: Rumour: 'Switch 2' Said To Be Fully Backward Compatible With A Larger, 1080p Screen
I'm wary of the "electromagnetic suction docking structure" they mention for the Joy-Con.

It would be good if Vicarious Visions can manage to do the same.
Re: Mortal Kombat 1's DLC Fighter Homelander Won't Be Voiced By 'The Boys' Actor
@nimnio Don't be silly, this is a video game. It's probably Nolan North.
Re: Random: Nintendo Pulls Mortal Kombat 1 Switch Trailer Featuring Steam Pop-Up
This almost feels like the time Steam Deck's advertising showed an icon for a Switch emulator.
Re: Charles Martinet On His New Role As Mario Ambassador: "I Don't Know What That Is Yet"
I wonder if it's like being a "3DS Ambassador."
Re: Sunsoft's Game Boy Platformer Trip World Launches On Switch eShop Next Week
The North American eShop is saying the game comes out September 28. ($19.99)
There must have been a mistake in the press release or something. There aren't even pre-orders for the digital version open.
EDIT: It is now September 28, and the release date has changed once again — to October 26.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Mega Man 7
I found it kinda weird that the NA box art features Treble but not Bass.
Re: Advance Wars Switch Director Would Love To Work On Kuru Kuru Kururin
If they do work on Kururin, I'd hope they'd bring the sequel(s) as well. Kururin Paradise remains the best of that series IMO.

Re: More Characters Seemingly Returning To Mario Kart 8 Deluxe In Future DLC Waves
I feel like a number of WarioWare characters would fit into a kart racer perfectly. Mona, Dribble, Spitz, and Orbulon all drive proper vehicles.
Of course, almost any of them could work. In any case, if this does happen it would be a crime not to at least give Wario his biker outfit too.

Re: Nintendo Minute's Kit And Krysta Say Goodbye In Their "Final Episode"
@Tourtus I feel like the data leaks from the past year hadn't helped, but that's probably unrealistic to assume.
Then again, Nintendo swiftly cancelled that Zelda Netflix production after news of it got leaked, so who knows?
Re: Sega's Astro City Mini Is Getting A 'TATE' Version Packed With Shmup Goodness
