On topic, I played this on Ps3 and wasn't that impressed. It seemed like it kind of, hate to say, ripped off Mario RPG games without any of the charming parts at all. Then again, I was never a fan of the show.

Love to see this lists are just as inane as ever. With reviews, I defend you because a review is a long opinion piece but this I can't defend.

You don't even explain half of it and the parts you do explain make very little sense. Also in a list like this, where you're trying to declare things the best, why not involve your reader base as well, instead of just your own opinion.

This games aren't nearly as good as everyone says they are. I'm willing to admit that people have different tastes, but they are far from the greatest games ever.

So while I'd be happy with more Switch releases, I definitely wouldn't be buying these.

Happy to hear this. Visual novels are great to play portably for me and would love to see more.

Oh so this is like the developers telling us to that we have to beg for ports of their games too? They should be handling this with Sony, not us. It just seems like a way to pass blame at this point.

I did think that other companies were stepping up but after more reading it seems everyone is saying that it will take work to make other games cross platform FROM Sony or suddenly that it's not in the books. Of course I don't expect this to stop the misguided fan battle this allows.

@Dalarrun I actually enjoy the free games and think that they help make it a better value. I would gladly pay more for Nintendo Online if they decided to offer features akin to their competitors. I personally don't understand why every one acts like complains about the online service are about price.

But we could go back and forth forever. In the end, I don't mind Nintendo's online so much as it disappoints me that they and their and use the low price as an excuse for crappy features.

@Crillan even if that's true, which is doubtful, Nintendo only has themselves to blame for not explaining their service and for putting that on their website. Which it was. And then it changed.

The handheld market is being taken over by cellphones mostly anyone, even Nintendo is launching games on there to take advantage of where the casual audience is.

I personally didn't see the big deal and still don't. That doesn't mean I'm not happy that they made a more consumer based decision. It's a good move as I said.

It's a good thing and further proof to everyone who says only positive aspects of ANY company should be discussed that they are wrong. It is always good when a company agrees to listen and shows change.

I actually prefer the style of video games from this period because it was time before people acted like graphics were the be all end all of gaming. Now days, it would seem to be all that matters to most people.

That doesn't mean I want to play this particular game.

@Medic_alert you mean they saw the bad response from their fanbase and changed the policy already? Good on Nintendo for that. Now what about all the people who claimed it couldn't be done because of space constraints? Because clearly they were wrong.

honestly I feel like the Switch should have at least had a mic for portable use like the 3DS and one one the joycon like the Wii U had on its controller. It just seems silly not to when you've already done it and you're making portability a focus.

Also does anyone really not have headphones with a mic in this day and age?

@Galenmereth because I enjoy conversation? I know that's an uphill battle on this site as most people just shut down the minute you say anything to them but that doesn't mean I'm not going to try.

Listing off the cliches and explaining it's trite says a lot about the plot. It's trite because it's cliche predictable and, to quote, blah blah blah. I just find it funny that you claimed it was politically bias to be honest, which is a massive stretch.

So we're just going to pretend like mobile phones aren't where most people go to play portable games now? Even Nintendo has caught on to that and is trying to cash it. I don't think a lot of causal even buy portable game systems anymore, as they were never really in it for long and in depth games anyway.

That said this could change. Also I still hope we get another dedicated handheld from Nintendo and I absolutely find it hilarious that everyone here thinks they know it would fail. The truth is that no wants to have to share new releases between the two no matter what people say about being happy with the indie flood we get now.

@Galenmereth you seem to think I care you commented. I don't. Im pointing that the review is saying the story is a cliche and that's all there is to it. It's not that hard to understand what it means. The blah blah blah is meant to convey that the story doesn't matter to the game at all.

I mean if you want a plot summary for a plot light game maybe you should read a synopsis and not a review?

@Rhaoulos I don't think Netflix has the infrastructure for actual video games. They do have some interactive type movies for the children and they may be as close as they get. They're already hemorrhaging money trying to make new content as is.

Also I think the site is having massive lag and that's why the comments are messed up. I had that issue too.

I mean i don't mind but I'm not going to buy it. I'm not sure about the licensing deal they have with Nintendo but I'm sure with the right amount of money they'll be happy as can be.

@BensonUii that's the way right there. People actually expect not to have to pay for a game for the fifth time and you find something in that to whine about. Sony and Microsoft both do a better job with past games then this, although still not perfect. But at least I can play my Psp games on my Vita, my ps one games on my psp Vita and ps3. Haven't tried them on the Ps4 to be honest because that's really enough playing of old games for me.

And even the 3DS lets me play my DS games without paying for a new version. And hell my Wii will play my GameCube games. It's not ridiculous to expect Nintendo to sell something to you once and I can't even fathom why you would defend them not doing so, unless you're a shareholder, which I doubt.

I never regret reading review comments. Either the score is too high or two, but this site you all choose to go to is always wrong and needs to work harder. I'm surprised someone has yet to harass the author about how many hours they played the game to be honest.

@Dalarrun he does complain when games are rated above a certain age and often goes after people who disagree with him. People who don't want stones shouldn't live in glass houses.

Oh wow just last week it was horrible on the Switch and should have never been released. I'd love to see an actual platform by platform breakdown of the numbers for once just to see how many people play where, otherwise feeling the need to say that is just silly.

Also I don't care for this game, but I didn't have any problems with the Switch version when I tried it. I feel like this is another time Multiplats have gotten crappies on by the hardcore Nintendo fans but then they want to turn around and claim a great effect on the numbers the next minute.

@FlimFlam that's the thing about this site. People get upset about any game that doesn't come to Nintendo and they often whine about Sony because they're in the lead right now console wise. They really don't like when other systems get exclusives either.

But if you mention a game in the Switch, it's great no matter how poorly it did. People who point this hypocrisy out are often attacked as being fanboys of some competing platform by the same people, as though being logical and rational are bad things.

You can clearly see the bias in their responses. I'm not even interested in Spiderman but I hear good things from people who like that kind of stuff and I'm not going to pretend I don't out of some warped sense of loyalty.

On the other hand, I can't wait for Animal Crossing, as it's one of the games I bought a Switch for. Some people just can't understand dynamic opinions nowadays.

I think it's hilarious how people whine about reviews now. If you don't like it, go find somewhere to host your own. This isn't like making a game, you all can obviously write so why not show some gumption and show everyone how popular the changes you want will be?

@Camilla yes but it hasn't happened yet. All consoles are eventually phased out but it's not like people wanting the 3DS version are asking for it to be specially made. It was already made.

I could understand if it had just bene for Switch PC and PS4 from the start but it wasn't.

They look OK, but I don't like the fact that they don't have internal batteries. I don't really care about rumble, HD or not. It's just never appeal to me or added anything to a game.

I mean he's entitled to his opinion and I admire that he's not kissing ass just because he's releasing a game on the Switch. I prefer honesty.

@Mrtoad this very game sold more on the 3DS than the Ps4 in Japan although I'm sure everyone has their excuses ready as to why. Also a lot of people who I know personally and who make up the actual DQ and Square fanbases were going to purchase both portable versions because they were portable. The Switch was preferable but they were going to buy the 3DS version because it was already going to be out.

I find it odd that people insist the Switch's selling point is portability and then act as if no other console has that. The DS line has gotten tons of DQ so obviously there's a market and slapping a script into a finished game that you already made anyway doesn't cost that much extra.

Of course, the Switch fanbase is more likely to say something nice about Microsoft than the 3DS nowadays so that's what a lot of this is.

It's sad but not entirely unexpected. The actual quality of story telling was in descent so it's a bit of an old yeller situation.

@kobashi100 if it was just a straight up port of the Ps4 version it would be out by now. It's been confirmed that it will have "exclusive content" which makes it a different version altogether and the fact that they canceled the 3DS version means they likely didn't want the competition.

You can pretend like you have some first person knowledge about the games or the sales but you're just being a self important fan boy. I never said it wouldn't sell on the Switch, I even pointed out that the Switch offers portability while the other versions don't, so maybe you should take your own advice, take off the cult goggles, and actually read people's comments.

Also you ignore the fact that I was actually talking about the PC version. So look man, if you want to have a fan war or whatever, maybe have it with someone who actually wants one next time?

@kobashi100 it's kind of silly to be making sales predictions on a game you know nothing about. That's the height of fanboyism right there. We don't even know if we're getting the full game, or a port of the 3DS game which runs on a different engine apparently.

It would seem that you simply want to make it bad that it's on PS4 already but it's also on PC which is all around a better version than it's likely the Switch will get and a better version than the Ps4. In fact, most of the people I know have already bought it for PC on steam. I'm holding out for portability but really only waiting because I have other games to play anyway.

I don't know why they didn't just release the 3DS version if it was going to be forever. It wouldn't effect sales if they're released two years apart anyway.

Also its hilarious that the hardcore Nintendo cult is now actually attacking other Nintendo fans because they like a different console. It's the height of stupidity.

As for the rest of your comment, people have explained that it was given out free with humble bundle and with PS plus which could give it the reputation of a free to play game as well the in game purchases.

I did laugh when you said everyone wants cross play and then identified people who don't want it or don't care as fanboy extremist. That's just typical of any sort of conversation nowadays.

This just goes to show that sometimes Nintendo does something amazing and simultaneously let's down a portion of its fanbase anyway.

Honestly I've never finished any but TWD season one and two.

Honestly this doesn't bother me at all but it's nice to see that this site continues its decent into click bait hell. I didn't expect to be able to play a game like this in a mode that requires the Joycon to be locked to its side. Tabletop is as portable as possible.

However you should be able to play every mode online with whoever. They really have now excuse for that nowadays.
