Anybody else think that the character in green with his sword above his head looks like Toon Link from Wind Waker? That was my first thought when I saw this review on the home page. Those eyes...
I get the man's point, but I'm sorry, only Nintendo would create an online, team based shooter and then not allow you to communicate with your team.
I'm surprised Nintendo hasn't found a way to ban trash talk when you're playing Smash Bros. on the couch with your friends. Heaven forbid anybody swear when playing a Nintendo game.
I know it's been stated by members prior to my two cents, but people should not be at all shocked by this. The Wii U cannot be expected to run a PS4 or X1 game. Nintendo's console is simply not powerful enough, period. Nintendo wonders why they have pathetic third party support - maybe stop creating underpowered consoles that can't run the games that the rival consoles can.
I'm not a hater as I enjoy my Wii U, but I'm sorry, I'm smart enough to not expect third party games to appear on the system, and I'm not outraged when they don't. That's why I also have Sony consoles.
The dig at Call of Duty wasn't really necessary. The four New Super Mario Bros titles were all original and entirely different from each other afterall... Right down to completely unique soundtracks. Just a bucket of original ideas there.
I don't get this. Nintendo-only gamers don't care about this series as proven by the fact that Black Ops 2 and Ghosts did not sell well on the Wii U. If Nintendo-only gamers did care about the series they'd own either a PlayStation or Xbox where they could actually play the games, but then they obviously wouldn't be Nintendo-only gamers.
Anyways, we'll have to see I guess. I'm perfectly happy with Ghosts on my PS3. I don't really see the need to buy such a similar game every November; having just one in the series is good enough for me.
Tricky issue for sure. I have been an elementary teacher for close to 4 years now and all I will say is that I do not think that kids should be playing GTA or CoD. That said, I think it's up to the parents to give a damn about what their kids are experiencing and what they have access to. Students are my responsibility in the classroom; when the bell rings and they leave they are no longer my responsibility.
I still can't believe that a game like this can now exist on a handheld. This coming from somebody who had an original Game Boy growing up. Things have sure come a long way.
I love how people complained for years about how every Mario Party was essentially the exact same. Then, when they finally changed-up the formula with Mario Part 9, people then claimed that this change was utterly horrible. Now they're saying that they'll never buy a new Mario Party game until it goes back to the old formula.
Anyways, great review @MegaWatts . I look forward to picking this up on Friday.
I think this game will be a success. It's smart to keep it a stand alone release with a DLC focus as opposed to releasing a sequel every year. That's what killed the market 5 years ago: having a new Guitar Hero and Rock Band coming out every 6 weeks.
Anyways, I had too much with these games back in my university days; there's no way I'm not interested in getting this for PS4 some day.
I think I'll stick to actually playing the board game with my family and friends. I just learned how to play Chess last fall and absolutely fell in love.
Crazy - an hour and a half is about my record for getting 70 stars, the requirement for getting to the final Bowser stage. That's a successful speed run for me lol. My hat is off to these folks!!
Sounds like these folks have the right idea. And yes, I think Nintendo should make a phone call here and be in on the ground floor. Whatever these guys want to make, Nintendo should want it to be exclusive to their console.
Generally speaking I will look at the score first, but I always immediately read the review after I look at the score. Numbers don't mean anything unless you read why that number is there.
Ultimately though if it's a game that I know I'm going to enjoy I don't put much stock in the review. For example, growing up every Tales game that I played was generally scored in the 7 range, but yet they're some of my favourite games I've ever played. It's why I've never understood why fanboys get upset when a game like Smash Bros. only gets a 9.5 instead of a 10. If you love the game and enjoy it then why does the review score matter to you?
The main thing I look for in a review is the following: is the game broken. Is it buggy, glitch, does it have performance issues, and is it just generally unfinished (in other words, does it have an Ubisoft-level of polish). There have been times when I was looking forward to a game, read numerous reviews that all agreed on the fact that the game wasn't done yet, and decided to not waste my money.
I was never a fan of this game when I was a kid, but I know that people have been wanting this 3DS remake to happen for a long, long time. Hopefully it won't disappoint those folks - based on this review it doesn't sound like it's going to.
Never had any interest in the first game, but I admit that I have my eyes on this one. Let's just hope the game doesn't cause the Wii U to freeze up like every single third-party game that I played on the system during its first year.
Without resorting to glitches I can beat the game in 16 minutes. That's getting to the Star Road as quickly as possible so that I can reach the front door of Bowser's Castle, all with no deaths. I'm proud of this speedrun because it's honest and doesn't involve cheating. 16 minutes is good enough for me.
I doubt I will ever play this as it just isn't my type of game, but this is one seriously impressive trailer. The scenery, creature design, and just overall sense of scale are fantastic.
Nintendo needs to do this themselves. They did it for Wind Waker, now do it for one of the best games that they've ever made and include Game Cube controller support, much like with the Wii Virtual Console.
That's a quality list right there, however, the game that I am most excited about is Yoshi's Woolly World. My lady and I have been looking forward to playing through that together for some time now.

Re: Feature: Yoshi's Woolly World, Like Kirby's Epic Yarn Before It, Offers Unique Chill-Out Platforming
Personally I have been excited about this game ever since it was first announced, but I can certainly see your point, Thomas.
Re: Splatoon Global Testfire Demo Confirmed For This Weekend
I love this website, but from top to bottom the first 10 stories on the homepage are all Splatoon related. Overkill much?
I get it. A Nintendo home console is actually going to have an original, exclusive IP for the first time in years. But seriously, enough is enough.
Re: First Impressions: Hands On With Playtonic's Yooka-Laylee
I know this game is still very early in development, but already it has peaked my interest. I'll be watching this one closely.
Re: Preview: Unraveling the Truth in Yoshi's Woolly World
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island is one of the best games ever made. I really don't think the Baby Mario mechanic was that "irritating."
Anyways, apart from those digs this was a great preview that got me more excited for this game. Can't wait to play it!!

Re: Weirdness: Street Fighter's Ryu is Now Being Rumoured as Future DLC in Super Smash Bros.
HADOUKEN!!!!
...ahem..., sorry about that.
I would be fine with either of these additions.
Re: Nintendo of Japan Confirms the Tracks in the Upcoming Mario Kart 8 DLC
All these videos really underline the point of just how bad Ice Ice Outpost was in the first DLC pack. These all look utterly fantastic.
Re: Nintendo of Japan Confirms the Tracks in the Upcoming Mario Kart 8 DLC
Ribbon Road!!! That's a nice surprise, but I hear ya @Ichiban, Wario Stadium would have been awesome.
Re: Those Yoshi's Woolly World Yarn amiibo Are Up for Pre-Order in the UK, and They're Pricey
The dig at Call of Duty wasn't really necessary. The four New Super Mario Bros titles were all original and entirely different from each other afterall... Right down to completely unique soundtracks. Just a bucket of original ideas there.
Anyways, yes, these amiibo are rather expensive.

Those are beautifully designed.

Re: Yoshi's Woolly World Knits Up Some Release Details And An Adorable Range Of amiibo
I just hope these aren't ridiculously hard to find like the regular Amiibo are. After failing to find a Rosalina my fiancée now has her heart set on a pink Yoshi.

I really think this is something that I could lose myself into, and I never had any interest in playing the first one.

Re: Nintendo Download: 26th February (North America)
DKC 1 and 2 are two of my all time favourite games. Was never a fan of the third one. Those darn bears and their items...

Can't wait for this!! My fiancée and I are looking forward to playing through it together, just like we did with Mario 3D World.
Re: Review: Kirby and the Rainbow Curse (Wii U)
Seems like a perfectly fair review to me.
Re: Gallery: It's Time For Another Influx of Xenoblade Chronicles X Screens and Footage
Beautiful. l never had any interest playing the original game, but this one I just can't help but look forward to.

Re: Poll: Do Video Game Reviews Need To Have A Score?
As I said earlier in the day over at Push Square:
Generally speaking I will look at the score first, but I always immediately read the review after I look at the score. Numbers don't mean anything unless you read why that number is there.

Re: Video: Xenoblade Chronicles 3D Visuals Stand Up Rather Well in a Wii Comparison
They both look pretty much the same to me, but it's still impressive getting it to run on a handheld console.
Re: Review: Dr. Luigi (Wii U eShop)
I downloaded this today with my final Club Nintendo rewards.
Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D (3DS)
I was never a fan of this game when I was a kid, but I know that people have been wanting this 3DS remake to happen for a long, long time. Hopefully it won't disappoint those folks - based on this review it doesn't sound like it's going to.
Re: Nintendo to Present a Xenoblade Chronicles X Showcase This Week
Looking forward to this!
Re: Xenoblade Chronicles X is so Sizeable That It Almost Needed More Than One Disc
Never had any interest in the first game, but I admit that I have my eyes on this one. Let's just hope the game doesn't cause the Wii U to freeze up like every single third-party game that I played on the system during its first year.
Re: Poll: Which Current Generation Nintendo Soundtracks Would You Buy?
Tropical Freeze for this guy!!

Re: Review: Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World (Wii U eShop / Game Boy Advance)
SNES or GBA, one of the greatest games ever made.
Re: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D Limited-Edition Bundle Confirmed for North America
I love when Nintendo does this kind of thing.
Re: Video: Super Mario 64 Is Getting A Fan-Made HD Remake, And It Looks Gorgeous
Nintendo needs to do this themselves. They did it for Wind Waker, now do it for one of the best games that they've ever made and include Game Cube controller support, much like with the Wii Virtual Console.
Re: Feature: The Biggest Wii U Games of 2015
