Nintendo has confirmed that demo sessions for its forthcoming Wii U shooter Splatoon will be held later this month.
The sessions - which are dubbed "Global Testfire" - last for an hour each and are open to all Wii U owners, regardless of region. A downloadable demo version of the game will be made available today for use in these sessions.
The dates and times are:
- May 8th 8PM-9PM (PT) / 4AM-5AM (BST - 9th May)
- May 9th 4AM-5AM (PT) / 12PM-1PM (BST) and then Noon-1PM (PT) / 8PM-9PM (BST)
Nintendo staffers from the "Squid research lab" will be joining these sessions, and you'll be able to identify them from their white lab coats.

Hype!!!
So we can't play the demo anytime we want?
Finally a public Splatoon demo, but it sucks it will only be playable for a few hours. Definitely going to milk it for all it's worth.
I think the window is referring to online play
What time are these Global Testfires for EST?
Excited! And I'm glad it starts tomorrow and not today. I've got my AP U.S. History test to study for... hah.
Glad to see nintendo hates the East Coast who have a normal 9-5 job.
Once again Nintendo trying to stay modern with online gaming but not doing a great job. Most betas/demos for online games usually let you play online a whole weekend (or at least a whole 24 hours). At least they are giving us something, I guess.
As for the ranked battles, I know that rainmaker won't be available until later. But is the only one available at launch splat zones? Or is that tower one also going to be available at launch? Even if it's just those two I feel like it will get boring just playing them over and over.
I can understand a limited demo, but...seriously? I'll get an hour? How about a couple hours once or twice a week leading up to launch or something? Or a demo with bots and only one weapon that I can play whenever?
YAY!!!!
edit: NAY!!!!
Exciting
Hopefully the demo has a level of single player and the hub to walk around in. Those are bad times for me in NY, maybe Friday night and Ill let the kids get up early Sat morning to play.
Oh, and I foubt it will be availsble for another hour yet until normal eShop update time, maybe 11 more minutes if they wsnt to be nice and updste an hour early. Then well see if we can crash the server
Whoa, wait... yeah, gee. The only easy time to make it for this for people on the East Coast in Central or Eastern time is if you wake up super early on Saturday, stay up late on Friday, or have your midday Saturday free. They really should've made bigger windows than this.
Can't wait to ink some Nintendo staff!
The actual Download demo will probable be up a 12 PM Eastern Time when the eshop updates.
@ChuJelly Funny, my timehop this morning was a status I posted 5 years ago about taking the APUSH exam. Study hard and good luck! It really does pay off when you get to college to get some of those credits out of the way.
I'm Inkcited.
DAMN
And i just took a plane to go on vacations
OMG and the game is getting new 3DS cover plates!! /faint
GET INKED!
@NintyMan
Friday May 8th 11pm-Midnight
Saturday May 9th 7am-8am
Saturday May 9th 3pm-4pm
Friday 11-12 PM and Saturday 7-8 Am and Saturday 3-4 PM.This is the Eastern times of the online part of the demo.Probably to test their servers for launch on May 29th.
I can understand their reasoning for doing this, but at the same time it'd be nice to play an offline demo so I can at least have some time to adjust to the game's controls and see if it's something I'd enjoy playing. Whether my money goes to a pre-order or not will be determined by how the demo is.
Well, guess I won't be getting sleep this weekend... It's overrated anyways.
Voluntary server stress testing! I hope I'm able to give this a shot.
So who else is gonna be up 4am for this😀
@Faruko I know, that's tough!
After thinking about it, I think Nintendo pitched the sessions wrong. They may be that those are the times that the Nintendo staff are playing, not the actual hours that the demo is playable. It would be ludicrous to make the demo have such restricted hours for those who can't play at those specific hours.
I'm guessing one reason for the limited time windows is to get a projection for regional levels of interest... I for one would love to see the data of which regions attend at which times. I'm thinking Saturday morning's for Japan, though there will be at least one Alaska ping in the mix.
Yup, it looks like I will be up at 3am Saturday morning getting my bleary-eyed fix. Ugh, and yet... But still: woot lol
@AyeHaley Woah, wait, what? Not surprising that they weren't in the NA one. Any details?
I don't like the fact that this is only a limited time thing and only for an hour, The times are even worse. Like if you're going to do this, do it for the weekend of something so that anyone over the whole world can play when it is their entertainment time and not sleeping or working. This is just moronic, I hope those times are wrong because I am not staying up until 1:00am-2:00am to play a demo.
@majinx07 same thing I was wondering
@ChuJelly good luck on the test
Demo up now.Downloading
586.6 MB
@NandN3ds thanks for the info
There has to be something you can do alone in the demo.Guess I'll find out in a few minutes.My wifi slow just now so download will take longer than normal.
available today? are you sure, it stands may 8th, its may 7th now
Downloading the demo now, will report back.
5 mins to wait just jumped to a 12 min wait!
@ikki5 It's a server stress test. The limited time frames are on purpose because they want the highest concentration of people online at once to test the servers. It's actually quite smart. Don't want another BF4 or GTA Online situation.
@97alexk Available right now.
Nice way to let players on their toes
I can't wait to see the post from those who are downloading now......I'm stuck at work for another 5-6 hours. Please let us know what you can do in the demo.
Wow Nintendo, you're still in your own twisted, little plane of existence, aren't you? I'm thankful for the demo and everything but let's be real. Every other shooter's beta gives at least a weekend with no arbitrary time limits attached. I will be able to play at least once but unfortunately I don't believe everyone will have the same opportunity.
Download done - US - installing.
BTW you can pre-order and pay $59.99 right now and get charged right now in the US (sorry, Im poor and bitter.)
@dkxcalibur You can do absolutely nothing until the 1 hour test periods.
What @IceClimbers has said regarding the limited time sessions makes the most sense.
You just get a message: "The splatoon global testfire hasnt started yet, do you want to launch the internet browser and go to the official website to check the event details?"
This. Is SO backwards. Capcom can make a better demo than Nintendo.
Really don't like that there isn't even any sp content. Would've been awesome to try out the controls.
the small windows are pretty obviously attempts to stress-test their servers before the game launches
So one of those days is a complete no go for the UK since its 4-5am.
I will get it today and will try it in the mentioned hours.
A great way to see if my connection can take the brunt of online play.
@Grumblevolcano Thanks for reporting back.
I doubt I'll even download the demo because I'm not 100% sure I'll be able to jump on at those time slots. Bummer. I was hoping for offline play portion of the demo.....what a disappointment.
Though I am one, I'm genuinely not trying to be a fanboy at the moment. But really I think this is genius. Nintendo gets to not only stress test the servers, but they also give players a much more realistic experience. The servers are going to be busy when the game is fully launched. This demo period will probably be hit or miss unless they hone in on some specific times. I'm pretty excited! Plus, it doesn't give anyone too much of an advantage.
Demo up and running, its badically just a big ad to pre-order the game w/ the - button.
In and out of eShop was easy though.
Man, no single player, no hub world, no nothing, just an error message - Please try again later. But the times are nowhwre to be found in the demo. Do we need to memorize the times? Just keep checking back indefinetly? I swear Nintendo cant do anything right.
And it was such a good Splatoon Direct, and Im usually disappointed after those.
So it goes...
Oh wait, after the error message you can go to the website to see the times, or hit "nah", I like the nah.
Website says - oh look only PT, the rest of the country gets to do the time math, stupid Reggie.
If you pay the $59.99 right now you do get t-shirts that dont do anything except change the look, like PS Home shirts.
So this really is less of a beta and more a pre-order ad. Guess they want all of us in NA to place a non-refundable pre-order before we realize the rest of the world is getting the game cheaper.
Im done.
Gutted there's no single player training seem like silly idea to just have it on certain day, time. I wanna play now....
@Peach64
The United States is more deserving anyway. We can still pronounce the letter "H" in conversational speech.
(I'm kidding! I'm kidding! where's dat dry British wit! don't hate!)
Maybe they'll make it playable after the stress tests? I'm just pulling at straws at this point.
Here's what I think this is: Nintendo is using this as a Beta to test their servers for this game since they seem to always have problems with online and large amount of traffic, thus the specific times are put in place in order to Beta Test and put large amounts of stress on the servers to see if they hold up as well as they're predicting they will.. It's kind of in the name guys.
@rjejr I went from downloading the game the second it's available to waiting and seeing what reviews and other players say about the game. Was this Nintendo's plan?
@rjejr I'm in Australia and we get it in UK times! lol
Personally don't mind the limited time slots, help test the server loads and they all suit me fine for playing
@rjejr
I agree it is a poor showing for the general Wii U audiences. Times should be easy to see and figure out, right where you are. Especially after you took the time to go to the website.
However... it's a stress test, hence the fun name "testfire"
As @iceclimber said they want to try and see how the servers hold up to a huge number of players all at once worldwide. So times are weird, etc.
I for one, will definitely try this out. It's free and I'm anxious to see how it controls. And it's free.
On top of this, Europe gets a discount for helping with the demo! I'm doubtful I'll even bother with the demo.
Wait 4am to 5am am I seeing that right! Who is awake at that time in morning?
What a USELESS demo. My gawd, Nintendo...There isn't even one single player mission or training mode?
Ugh I don't want to sound like a b**** but....Nintendo is run by idiotic numb*****s
@rjejr That NA price doesn't make any sense, in Europe (without the 10% demo discount) it's the same price as Rainbow Curse, Mario Party 10 and Captain Toad.
@DerpSandwich This demo is for Nintendo, not us lol. Stress testing servers I imagine.
@AyeHaley show some self control here bud. The game will be out soon.
@Captain_Gonru You don't really need voice chat, your main goal is to splash paint everywhere. That doesn't make it shallow, that just means you're going to have to get used to anarchy, because screw trying to control everything. Chaos is most fun type of "order".
@TheAceofMystery of course we can. it's just the online mode that needs scheduled sessions
To think I was so excited an hour ago...
Oh Nintendo...
I think Nintendo have purposely made the sessions short to give their servers a thorough testing ,as it'd force everyone to play online at set times ,using us as guinea pigs as they wouldn't want server problems after launch date , quite clever really.
@BlatantlyHeroic word, I doubt using tactical voice commands will really help with splattering paint all over hte place. Especially since everyone can see the map and what needs covered.
@inkling_shawn That's fine, but add in a single player mode to try the game offline too. What a joke.
@Captain_Gonru If they did that, the whole impact of seeing them when you buy the game would be lessened. It's like film companies deciding to stop showing most of the movies in trailers, and people demanding they start showing all of the movie in the trailers again.
@OneBagTravel I know right? It's like: "I have no common sense so I need voice chat because I'm not sure if my team wants me to cover the ground in paint or not."
How quickly the entitled feeling swoops in, eh? An hour ago there was no realistic expectation of any way to play before launch and a $60 purchase. Now, it's the most awful thing you can only play at certain times and some people can get it for less. Pretty funny comment section here.
I'm disappointed Nintendo didn't capitalize a little more on the opportunity but I'm still a little shocked we are even getting this stress test. Very nice.
When they announced the demo, I was hoping we could at least create our inklings and try the different weapon types in the dojo, but I suppose that might've made the demo a bit too big - maybe after the "testfire" we'll get some singleplayer stuff to waste time on.
@AyeHaley Same here.
@dkxcalibur yes true a single player demo would've been better too and maybe a little stroll around the shops but heyho that's Nintendo !
@masterpad
You are misinformed or presuming. You can download it now, but the demo is not playable until the times shown.
Has anyone tried to change their system time to see if it will launch? Not recommended...
@aaronsullivan I don't think it's "entitlement" for me, but I'm disappointed for sure.
I do expect maybe another testfire in the future. Especially if these crash hard.
@aaronsullivan - I know its a server beta, and Im glad they are having one, all the major FPS have stress tests and Nintendo really needs it more than any of them. But it says Demo in big letters on top of the "tile" so I was expecting a single player level and a hub world w/ all the stores having "closed" signs hanging on them. But mostly Im just bitter over the price differentisl across currencies. Add in an amiibo 3 pack thats $95. Skylanders and Disney Infinty w/ portals snd characters start at $75.
@Wimpey - Well who the heck can do the time conversions from UK to Australia, you guys arent even in the same seasons.
@rjejr That pricing makes no sense unless they are putting a amiibo in the box. It's especially annoying since it is easy to find out that NA is getting screwed on the pricing (with little justification).
Oh you entitled gamers......
This sounds cool, but I have to wait to play the demo at 11 PM (Eastern time) tomorrow night and that's it? Maybe I'm just not used to such online focused games. I hope that local battle dojo is still pretty fun.
I did just read about the 7 am time Saturday though. That's more my time to get some game time in. I know when I'll be joining.
@Grumblevolcano I know, $60 and we dont even get the discount offer? Not even if we pay it all right now? m still blaming Reggie, even if he has lost all say and power, it's still somehow his fault.
@Captain_Gonru - Thanks. This is what happens when I like the ND. SD?
@Tate24 they want everyone have the same level of experience as everyone else, zero. Lol
@Captain_Gonru I thought they were an hour? Well.. I guess they'd only be three minutes if they crash hard right away... which is suddenly a very big concern to me because... well... this is Nintendo we're talking about... XD
The whole point of this game isn't strategics though. It's having fun with a bunch of other people around the world, splashing color over a grey surface and covering terrain while chaotically shooting each other and revenge killing. Not everything has to be a competitive meta game or strategic warfare. This is simply about having a good time shooting paint at everything as chaos ensnares any order left before.
I wonder if that's why the stages are grey and barren? Do they represent a unified, controlling, and oppressive dystopian society? Perhaps this game itself is a metaphor.
@Captain_Gonru You see, it's not about winning or losing. It's about the adventure, the fun, the chaos.
@diamond_phoenix ever heard of disappointment? I didn't know it was called entitled these days...I must be getting old.
@Darknyht Cant get an amiibo in the $59.99 DL though. (Sorry if thst comes across wrong, not mad at you, Im in a bad place
Honestly I was expecting a box set, but not sure how they would swing it since there are separate girl and boy but squid only in the 3 pack? Which do they bundle? Even my wife says the Best Buy Wii U bundle should have 1 amiibo.
I know this, Im not buying it at $60 unless I get some sort of deal. And I do wanted it after thst Direct.
@masterpad thank god, Ill be busy during botj sessions
@rjejr: Legend of Kay is looking pretty damn good right now for my May game. I think I am going to cancel my Splatoon amiibo preorders. This game just isn't doing it for me.
@Captain_Gonru Why you ask? Publicity. Advertisement.
Nice to hear.
Those time restrictions are...inconvenient.
you are lucky. in Canada is $69.99 for retail copy. I am sorry but I am not paying that.
@Amiibo Yeah, you'll have to be logging in between midnight and 1 a.m. Saturday, and or between 8:00 a.m. -9:00 a.m., or 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. So providing you don't work Saturday or stay up late Friday night, you could try it out.
At least Eastern Time and Atlantic Time have some decent play hours. I'll be playing all three time periods because of that fact.
@dkxcalibur - Honestly I was already on the fence about this game since day 1, so much on offer, but it never felt quite right, like Im always waiting for Nintenfo to screw it up. Either no amiibo availability or the price differences or the voice chat or the awkward couch multiplayer - I do most of my gaming w/ my 2 sons. But the Direct was really good, loads of weapon options, neat hub world, pop singing squid (I like weird japanese stuff) a robust single player, events all summer, demo after. I was all in day 1.
But then just like that it all fell apart. Demo has no single player, its as much a digital DL pre-order ad as anything else, UK price, UK demo discount. Its all feeling wrong sgain.
So Im back to square 1, today was a wash - great Direct, lousy after - and Ill wait to see if any of the major retailers lowers the price or throws in a free amiibo. I still want the game, but Im not fond of it saying "sucker" on my forehead.
@everyone on pricing, it's $79.95 down here in Australia for a retail copy
I'm hoping some places might put out a special price for release day...
Heh, it's like the Satellaview is back from the dead.
Ok wait, I have to download , then I have to wait till the weekend. What the...... Do they want to crash or are they testing it. I'm still not sure if I want to purchase this or not, but I'm in for this cockamamie scheme.
@Ryno Amazon says June 29 for Kay, so thst cant be your May game
Swords and Soldiers 2 has been listed as May 21 for ahile now, that may have to suffice. I REALLY want that game, its been day 1 since I finshed the first game about 6 or 7 years ago.
Oh wait I'm throwing an end of semester party on Friday. I'm screwed. There is no way my future hangover is going to deal with this.
I love this website, but from top to bottom the first 10 stories on the homepage are all Splatoon related. Overkill much?
I get it. A Nintendo home console is actually going to have an original, exclusive IP for the first time in years. But seriously, enough is enough.
@Wimpey - Would you mind putti g that into perspective for me, I don't follow Australuan game pricing. Is $80 the normal game price there or is that more or less? I cant imagine they jacked this 1 up to $80 if games are typically $60, but they might have lowered it to $80 if games are normally $100. Though it does sound high for a game regardless.
@IceClimbers This will basically give you 1 hour to try it for the "optimum time" which you may or may not get because it is such a short window. People have lives outside of the video game world and restricting this to this narrow of a window will deter a lot of potentials and "server testing". This is the kind of crap that breaks server upon release due to having much, much lower traffic volumes during the demo and then they are not pre-pared for the huge surge when the game officially goes live.
I am going to get some popcorn to watch the rage when the servers go live and break because Nintendo doesn't take the proper measures to get prepared.
@AyeHaley You seem to be wearing your "feelings" hence you replying to me as far as being "entitled".It's okay that you set yourself up for disappointment,just learn something and learn not to vent on the internet for purposes that wasn't made the assumptions that you thought they be.
@Captain_Gonru @Captain_Gonru - dingle? You gotta help me out man, Im on my tablet, every single word I type is misspelled. (I really should turn auto correct on but I dont remember how.)
But since I spent do much time rereading tne last sentence I got this 1 just for you.
And that rumor for the free stuff wasn't true.
@rjejr They should have stuck with the Mario Party 10 model. Game is $10 cheaper without amiibo or full priced with a boxed in amiibo. I am in the same camp as you, I probably will wait to buy this because of the price. I also probably will buy this on disc over digitally unless there is a compelling sale.
You would think that would be a clear and simple smart move for Nintendo to offer it's products $10 less than the competition. Especially when they are upselling you on overpriced amiibo figurines.
@rjejr
Captain Toad and the new Kirby are priced @ $59.95, heck Mario Party 10 With Mario Amiibo was $69 on release!
So I'm hoping the instore price will drop on release so I'm not pre ordering!
05/08: 11pm- 12pm ET
05/09: 7am- 8am ET
05/09: 3pm- 4pm ET
The Saturday times are ok, but the Friday one is kinda stupid for kids, isn't it? And I'm still confused after watching the direct about the single player campaign, is it a full campaign or just a small thing on the side?
@Wimpey I thought Kirby and Captain Toad were priced at $45? It's that price where I live.
@rjejr: i didn't watch the direct so I have been catching up. LOL, $60.00 (and maybe an additional $35.00 for amiibo) for an incomplete online multiplayer game with shoehorned-in single player? No thanks, I think I will wait for a sale and the rest of the game.
This... kinda spells disaster. The limited play time means everyone will be trying to join within that small one hour window. Which means a VERY small fraction of players actually being able to play. And the hours heavily favour the Pacific and Western time zones. This has "poorly thought out" all over it.
I'm debating not even bothering. I figure by the time I can even get into a match, the time will nearly be up.
All this talk about Splatoon has made me forget about the Blue Bomber. He is kicking it on VC.
Downloading it right now
it seems completely idiotic to release a demo that can only be played for 3 1 hour time periods. of which i will probably only be able to play 1 hour of because i have class at that specific time tomorrow and the first period on saturday is way to early for me. im assuming that they have further plans for this demo, at least i hope so because that was really a waste of a download if it isnt. what idiot came up with this idea? ya i know this will probably increase sales but so would a 48 hour over the weekend or even 2 weeks of an online demo(beta).
@hydeks
Welcome to Australian pricing
Downloaded and waiting!

@blackbeltbap I don't think the aim of this is to increase sales but rather to make sure their servers are perfectly ready for launch. Huge numbers of people online at the same time is the only way to test that.
@DarthNocturnal As others have noted, I think they're trying to overrun the servers to make sure they can handle the full release. And it's kind of a cool way to do it, especially getting the Nintendo staff in on it. I doubt I'll be able to make the sessions as a U.S. East Coaster, but I think it's neat that they're doing it because it makes fans feel like they're helping beta test the game.
i think i will wait until full version to come out, but not a bad idea to start
Wow. Like wow. Nintendo...let me ask you a question. If you were trying to stress test this game, then why... WHY would you set up the Friday ET at 11:00 at night!? and then the next session is early in the morning? And then after that 3 in the afternoon? I know the world doesn't revolve around me, yadda yadda blah blah, but come on! Those are like the worst times ever! Who do you expect to be on at those times besides people on the Pacific coast?
Who said this will be the only testfire schedule? It certainly be the first. Who knows they'll add some more contents on the demo later. And diverse times for the server test.
The more I think about it this is a great way to stress test the network... sadly ill be at work for most of these times.
This is more of a beta than a demo. I quite like the idea. I know what I'll be doing on Saturday!
@Wimpey
Mario Party 10 WITH the amiibo was $10 cheaper than this? Well that certainly doesn't sound right. (Not that your wrong, Nintnedo is.) Something going on w/ your broadband servers down there (no pun intended) that Nintendo would charge more for this due to the online? I'm just grasping at straws as that price seems way high compared to the others.
If I do buy this for $60 now I'll be thinking of you.
@Captain_Gonru - "those glasses make you look like an older woman ; )"
Knew you'd appreciate that. If I were a woman I'd be her though. Today anyway.
@Ryno - This has nothing to do w/ anything (well it will after you see the US tv ad) but somehow it all makes sense (And surprisingly it isn't - will somebody think of the children - yet it is) I need to make one of these for Splatoon.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gg5SwyTvAHw
@Darknyht - "upselling you on overpriced amiibo figurines."
Over the last 4 years we've purchased 5 Skylanders games (1 on 3DS) and 2 Disney Infinity games, and we'll probably buy Lego Dimensions as well, so I understand NFC games costing more than others, but at least offer a cheaper bundle. $60 game plus $35 amiibo bundle is too much. $50 game only and $75 bundle w/ the 3 Splatoon amiibo - the price of DI and SKylanders games - would make sense. And the amiibo open up a lot in the game. Unlike Captain Toad or Kirby or even Smash I do think it's important to have the amiibo, so thats' good game integration and getting your moneys' worth if you buy the amiibo, but w/o amiibo you are just missing too much of the game to charge $60 for it. Which is probably why the EU and UK are less, they understand that.
This entire Splatoon Direct confirmed it was the game I wanted (with those gorgeous cover plates coming I'm getting them too!) I went ahead to game and pre-ordered The game and the three Amiibo and also the official strategy guide with a nice beanie to wear while playing ! Pretty much I got all the Splatoon merchandise available and I hope the Wii U game pad cover will be release so I can get that too! All in all I'm very excited to play this and 200% it with all the Amiibo challenges!
One hour is quite ridiculous.
My whole weekend is going to be worked around playing splatoon. I am 33 and can not wait for this. It's just a shame that it isn't an open demo for everyone anytime until it releases.
Sorry I haven't downloaded this yet but I haven't seen anywhere that says this is a demo... Seems people are expecting something this isn't intended to be...
This sure is a great way to do a demo! I hope Splatoon will prove successful!
@rjejr: Sometimes I think we live in another universe. Most Nintendo fans be like "Thank you sir, may I have another?"
Huge amounts of single player content locked behind amiibo that I would have had to preorder long ago to have had any hope of getting. Long before I had any chance to actually play the game for myself and see if I even liked it. Hmmmmm. Between that and the big price discrepancy that we got the short end of here in NA, I think I'm out on this one. Would have been a pre-purchase and boatloads of hype but those two things have completely killed it for me.
@Ryno - Splatoon for sixty dollars - it's too damn high!
Autotune killed music, but it's great for parody.
@SmithJurd - "but I haven't seen anywhere that says this is a demo..."
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2015/05/splatoon_global_testfire_demo_confirmed_for_this_weekend
It says "demo" in the title, the photo caption, and in the first paragraph.
I know Nintnedo isn't responsible for what's written on this site, but it also says "Demo" on the top of the start up tile you select on the Wii U Gamepad. Not "Bet"' or "Stress test" or anything like that,it says "Demo" in big bold black letters. That's on Nintendo.
@SmithJurd It says demo on the game icon.
Thanks for the clarification guys, definite misselling from Nintendo then. Not actual able to get on the eshop to download this yet...
Nintendo, Nintendo, Nintendo. If they wanted to stress test the servers they would have offered 24 hours - up to a week. This is just pathetic.
@zeldagaymer93 @day Thank you! I definitely hope I do well. Gonna be studying all night tonight and at least by this time tomorrow it'll all be over and I get to maybe play some Splatoon
WTF are they thinking? You can only play this "demo" at certain hours? This isnt a beta or stress test..the game is coming out very soon. Betas and stress tests should have been done months ago. Seriously they should just run the demo over the entire weekend and have special events during those couple hours.
Hopefully life doesnt get in the way and I can actually try this game.
@rjejr I am not anti-NFC, but I for their price they offer very little additional gameplay. What they do well though is point out that you are missing something in the game if you do not collect them all.
So in Mario Kart 8 you get 15 missing outfits that will never be able to access without spending at least $210 more on the figures (if you can find them). It wouldn't bother me if they weren't selling similar outfits on Smash for $0.75 a piece. That is a lot of markup (1765% if I remember my formula correctly) for a digital outfit.
Definitely trying out the demo, though I wish it was like the MH4U one where you can play online as much as you want. Even just being able to play 24 hours for the whole weekend would've been a better alternative.
@Darknyht Here is the thing, the amiibo bonuses are 100% optional. Same with the MK8 Racing outfits, Smash Bros Mii costumes, and the Spinner in Hyrule Warriors. They aren't required to play the game at all. They are nice bonus extras for those who do buy the amiibos and DLC in the case of Smash Bros. Nintendo isn't forcing you to buy them, so you have no reason to complain.
And of course this weekend just happens to be the only weekend all year that I'll be away from home...
I'm in England. Obviously, I can't do the Saturday early morning 4AM - 5AM sesson. The other two which is 12PM - 1PM (which i'll have to wake up earlier for) and 8PM - 9PM I can do them! That's great!, Thanks Nintendo! But the sessions should have been longer!
There's no way I'm getting up at 4am to do the first demo, but I'll definitely play at the other times. Still, I'd prefer it if the timings weren't so small and limited.
Downloaded it, tried to start it up using pro controller, saw a message about needing to use the gamepad, turned it off because I haven't touched my gamepad in months
@earthboundlink
Overrunning servers = dead servers. At that point, not even Treehouse people could play.
ITT: People who don't understand what a stress test is.
One hour seems ridiculous for a demo but I still can't tell when it's gonna open in EST time zone
@Whopper744 local multiplayer is only 1 v 1
Promoting a game that is half finished, and is going to flop right after launch is sucha waste of time. If they had done this right it'd be worth it but right now that games gonna be a guide as to "WHAT NOT TO DO WITH A "competitive" SHOOTER" such disappointment after all this trash they have released about this game!
But what happens after Saturday?
