To me Smash Bros. represents some of the best multiplayer out there, let alone local multiplayer. Playing that on the couch with some buddies is something that few other games can match.
Maybe this explains why Most Wanted U froze/crashed about a dozen times on my console before I finally decided to get rid of it. My failed experience with Most Wanted U is what finally convinced me to buy a PS3 where I can actually play racing/third-party games that don't freeze every 5 minutes.
Also, 2010's Hot Pursuit is a much better game than Most Wanted, but I'm just not a fan of Most Wanted's open world style.
I'm really looking forward to trying out Little Mac! I've never played a Punch-Out game, but I think I'd be good with his fighting style. He'll be a nice addition to the roster.
As long as games are available at retail that's how I will be buying them. I like having a collection of cases on my gaming shelf. Get with the times I will not.
I agree with you. I thought that they disrupted the flow and pace of the game, even on the PS3 where Murphy is controlled with the circle button as opposed to the GamePad... the levels where you don't have to micro-manage more than one character are simply more enjoyable. The only reason the Murphy levels were even in the game was so Ubisoft could do something unique with the GamePad (in my opinion, anyways... not like they were in Rayman Origins).
Pretty sure the PS4 and Xbox One are actual game consoles, too. I understand that we're all pro-Nintendo here, but come on - you're just fooling yourself if you think that the Wii U is the only "console" out there.
The 3DS is one of the best systems out there in my opinion. As for the Wii U... well, I have mine so that I can play Nintendo games. I assume that Nintendo will continue to make games for it, so I'll continue to be happy with it.
Well if that’s your point than I certainly agree with you. My gamer friends and I are always talking about our current gaming projects and are recommending titles to each other. That’s the beauty of this wonderful pastime of ours.
I don't think you need to worry. I think most people have taken notice to Gamespot and their ways. I know I certainly tend to ignore their reviews. At the end of the day you and I are both going to love Tropical Freeze, so who cares what score Gamespot gave it.
To be fair, I did enjoy the checkpoints mid-boss battle in Rayman Legends, but I would never ding a platformer for not including those. Like you said, for 30 years platformers have had you re-start a boss battle from the beginning if you die, so why should that be held against this one.
Typical Gamespot. When the majority of respected game-sites are in general agreement I know I can always count on them to be the outlier and say "hey now, this game is exactly average." I love how everybody seems to think that the level design is top-notch in Tropical Freeze, while they said it was "unimaginative."
Great review, Thomas. Can’t wait for this one! I certainly understand and respect your few complaints, but as somebody who is not a real fan of the GamePad and who had planned to play this as a solely single-player experience I am really happy if those are the only real drawbacks that you see.
This Direct just made me really happy. After all the negative press that Nintendo has gotten over the last number of weeks this is exactly what the company needed.
I can't speak to A Link Between Worlds as I am not a Zelda fan, but Super Mario 3D World is easily one of the best games that I played last year and I believe that it deserves every award it gets.
At least this Nintendo console is doing well. I've supported every one of Nintendo's handhelds and I stand by my belief that the 3DS XL is one of the best consoles out there, ever.
I know the fanboys hate Ubisoft for what they're doing, but purely from a business standpoint the numbers simply and clearly are not there. If Ubisoft's games don't sell on Nintendo's hardware then you really can't blame them for not focusing on the platform. It's not Ubisoft's job to try and keep Nintendo afloat; they're only concerned with their own bottom line.
It's really an unfortunate reality. I've supported Nintendo my whole life and enjoy my Wii U. Tough times though.
I totally understand Ubisoft's logic here, but still, it's another unfortunate blow to Nintendo. Thank goodness Mario Kart 8 is only a few months away.
I have never been a Sonic fan and am proud of the fact that I have never even owned a Sonic game, but still, I love the fact that Sega is redesigning the characters and is at least trying something new.
I'll still never buy the game, but hopefully people who are actually fans of the series will get behind this and support it.
This game simply looks incredible. And I'm so happy that the enemies/bosses are actually animals again. The enemy design in the original Donkey Kong Country Returns were just stupid. Jumping on evil bongo drums... awesome.
I really like how Nintendo is constantly trickling out info on this game with screen shots every couple of days. I think it's a neat way to hype up the game and to sustain interest. I much prefer this to getting info on a game once and then not hearing about it for months on end (Yarn Yoshi anybody??)
I kind of wish that Nintendo would give Mario Kart 8 the same type of treatment that they're giving Smash Bros.

Re: Nintendo Download: 20th March (North America)
Just release Yoshi's Island, please. Enough of this other garbage that nobody wants.
Re: Weirdness: This Super Mario 64 Fan Remake is Fairly Impressive
I would not pay for an HD remake of either of the Galaxy games, but I would pay good money for a remake of Mario 64.
Re: Review: Yoshi's New Island (3DS)
Disappointing, but this seems like a very fair review. I guess I'll just wait until the original Yoshi's Island is available on the eShop.

Re: The Link Between Worlds Poster Set is Back on Club Nintendo
Not a Zelda fan, but that reflection-in-the-water poster is beautiful.
Re: North American Retailers List Limited Edition Yoshi 3DS XL
I like this design. It's simple and not overdone. Better than just having the eggs be everywhere.
Still, I'm perfectly happy with my Red/Black 3DS XL, so I'll pass.
Re: It's Not Waluigi Time In The New Super Smash Bros. For 3DS And Wii U
Too bad. I think he would have been a nice, new addition to the roster. Oh well.

Good thing Mario Kart 8 comes out 10 days later then.

Hey now... he could also throw apples at them...
Re: Shinji Mikami Prefers The Sega Version Of Aladdin, Even Though He Worked On The SNES Game
The SNES version gets my vote for the quality of the music.

Re: Diddy Kong Confirmed as the Latest New Challenger for Super Smash Bros.
I really don't think you need to specify which screens are Wii U and which are 3DS; it's kinda obvious.
All the same - it's nice to have Diddy back in the line-up. Let's have Dixie be next, please.

I could not be happier about this!!! My jaw dropped when I saw that trailer.

Re: Feature: A Week of Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Screens - Issue Twenty Four
It's nice to know that there are at least some Wii U games that Ubisoft can't screw up for us.
This game will be my life when it's released!

Entered!!
Is it wrong that I would rather win one of the second place prices..? A trip to BC just doesn't sound very appealing. lol
Re: Exclusive: Shin'en Multimedia Bringing Art of Balance to the Wii U eShop
I've had a lot of fun with this on my 3DS XL, so I don't really feel the need to double-dip. Still, I bet it's sure going to look nice in HD.

What this article fails to mention is that Iwata's salary is being reduced by 50% for only the next 5 months. I'm sure the man will be able to get by.
Still, I applaud this type of move as opposed to laying off other employees in the company.
