Re: Review: Spellspire (Switch eShop)

kirbygirl

I finally finished the spire and got all 100 stars, but did anyone else run across a bug in the dungeon that ended your run? I've encountered a quest that requires me to beat a certain monster three times, but that monster doesn't appear in that level at all. So I guess I'm done, lol!

Re: Feature: Nintendo Life eShop Selects - July 2018

kirbygirl

@gaga64 I'm guessing it's maybe because Semblance is a completely new release and a console-exclusive, unlike games like Limbo and Mega Man Legacy Collection, all of which have been around for a while on other consoles. It looks like they're just trying to put a spotlight on some variety here, but I wouldn't get too hung on which games made the top three and which were honorable mentions. Lists like this are fun but probably shouldn't be taken as definitive.

Re: Random: Nintendo Finally Confirms The Correct Pronunciation For 'NES'

kirbygirl

It's always been N-E-S and S-N-E-S for me, but I can see why some would say Ness and Sness. At least in the US, we're very inconsistent in our pronunciation of acronyms. Everyone says Nassa for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (not N-A-S-A), but then we say E-P-A for the Environmental Protection Agency (not "epah"). Whatever floats your boat, I guess.

Sure, we double-dipped on some of these so we could have them on-the-go on the Switch, but we’ve definitely found plenty to keep us busy for the foreseeable future. Plus, there are already tons of other games on my wishlist/maybe-list in the Switch eShop.

Not one crap game on that list, IMHO. But then I do have exceptionally good taste.

@Tao Yeah, we're not Nintendo-only people, but I don't tend to get a lot of indie stuff on the PS4 or XBO, as I generally prefer to play those kinds of games in handheld mode and I just rarely find myself making time for the Vita these days. I have a Steam account but don't really enjoy PC gaming, since I spend so much time on my computer for work. And again, the handheld advantage is huge for me.

Anyway, you make a good point, but "I've already played some of these elsewhere" isn't the same as "everything on the eShop is crap" (as a few others seem to claim).

Re: Review: Chicken Assassin: Reloaded (Switch eShop)

kirbygirl

@NintyNate I'm finding the opposite to be true. From my perspective, the Switch has so many good to great games on the eShop that it's impossible to keep up. My backlog is already crazy, and the system has been out for less than a year and a half.

Re: Review: Chicken Assassin: Reloaded (Switch eShop)

@JayJ From what I've seen, some people seem to dismiss anything that isn't AAA or coming from a major publisher as "shovelware." There are a lot of smaller/indie games on the eShop that might not appeal to you or me personally but whose developers put a lot of love into the project. Those aren't shovelware, and if some people use that term to dismiss many if not most eShop offerings, then the term has ceased to have any real meaning. Personally, I've been impressed by the sheer number of high-quality eShop offerings for the Switch. I can't come close to keeping up these days.

Re: Nintendo UK Is Asking For As Much As £180 To Repair Cracked Switch Consoles

kirbygirl

@Atariboy That's too bad. I've had two issues about which I had to contact US Nintendo support in the past (once having to send in our Wii for repair, once a problem with two eShop cards), and both experiences were fantastic. Fast repair on the Wii for a reasonable price, even though it was well out of warranty. The eShop card issue they were able to address in an afternoon with just one phone call and a follow-up email with documentation.

P.S. For US Switch owners, the article above did mention "It's worth noting that this problem doesn't seem to be present in North America, where we're hearing reports that consoles with cracks are being replaced under warranty."

Re: Nintendo UK Is Asking For As Much As £180 To Repair Cracked Switch Consoles

As I mentioned on a previous thread, there might be some kind of QC issue in a certain batch, but I also have to wonder if some people are just gripping the thing harder or with some unintentional torque. I just know my son and I have both played with our systems nearly daily since launch (his mostly docked and mine mostly handheld), and we haven't had any issues. We have traveled with them, and the kiddo (though generally quite careful with his electronics) has even dropped his a couple of times. Still no cracks or imperfections of any kind. We haven't done anything special to protect them, other than putting on screen protectors. And of course when we take them out and about, we use travel cases. I'm sorry some people are having problems with it and hope they can get them fixed for no charge, especially if still under warranty, if the cracks did occur due to a manufacturing issue and not rough handling.

Kind of similar to the DS hinge thing though. Some people swore up and down it was an issue, but I never had a single hinge break on any DS or 3DS system in my entire extensive collection. Neither did anyone else in my family. Guess we're just lucky (knock on wood!).

Re: Nintendo Download: 12th July (North America)

Wow, a crazy amount of awesome this week! I pre-ordered Captain Toad, Octopath Traveler, and Shining Resonance (all physical on Switch) ages ago, and I plan on grabbing Muddledash and Radio Hammer Station later today. (I loved the previous Radio Hammer on 3DS.) The Mooseman and The Lion's Song are going on my wishlist, and I might add Super Destronaut DX to it too. Waiting for reviews on Ghost 1.0 and Epic Loon.

Btw, anyone tried Mushroom Wars 2 yet?
