I've been replaying Mario vs DK 2 (DS) on my 3DS in short sessions, so I'll likely do a bit more of that. Fitness Boxing 2 daily. I'll likely play some Minecraft with the kiddo today, and then hopefully we'll do something else fun for Mother's Day. Probably either something Mario on the Switch, or I may fire up the old NES for some Zapper nostalgia...or both.
@Shambo I can't speak for others, but I found folders very helpful for organizing my digital library. On my 3DS, for instance, I had separate folders for NES games, SNES games, GBA games, GB VC games, Sega games, and Apps, and then for games that didn't fall into those categories, I had separate folders by genre (Rhythm, Platformers, RPGs, etc.). It was always easy to find what I was looking for and to browse amongst my selections when looking for something new to play because I had the ability to custom organize in a way that made sense to me.
Themes and cover plates are less important to me, but they are fun. I enjoy being able to customize the look of my system, sometimes according to season, sometimes according to mood, sometimes according to my current gaming obsession, etc.
An accessible web browser would be worthless to me, but I wouldn't begrudge that addition for those few who might not have a billion other devices that can fulfill that function--and likely do it better.
A large chunk of the content this time related to stuff that isn't my personal cup of tea (like Splatoon and Mario Golf), but I'm pretty excited for Famicom Detective Club and Project Triangle Strategy. The Mario addition to ACNH seems fun too.
Double-dipping, baby. It's been a long time since the kiddo and I played this on the Wii U, so we're looking forward to a replay, plus the new content.
@JasmineDragon Yeah, thinking about grown adults who would pay $300 for a plush that's the size of a full-grown adult, anything pervy is a real stretch. ;-P
Still one of our favorite Mario games. My son was much younger when it came out, and I remember how much we appreciated that it was accessible for him but could still provide some challenge for those of us trying to 100% it.
@Mips Except, dude, Zapper! CRT is must-have. And I enjoy remakes and upgrades as well as anybody, I think, but there's just something about playing original games on their original hardware. Even when it feels aged and flawed (looking at you, Atari 2600 and crappy joystick).
@kingbk Sounds like a bit of sour grapes, to be honest. I'm married, I'm a mom, I have a full-time job, and I have many other hobbies. That doesn't mean that I also haven't collected games over time, and that I can't enjoy those, sometimes by myself but sometimes with my family.
Btw, I enjoyed the article, but it's not like this is a new phenomenon, and it's not limited to Nintendo games (though those do tend to hold their value better than most). The secret to having the games you want in your collection is to avoid getting duped into trading them in for peanuts along the way. Sorry! I've made some mistakes in that regard in the past and paid for them too!
Glad the consoles were okay! I had to have my retro systems boxed up for 4-5 years and just got them back out and hooked up to a CRT this past month myself. I was so relieved that everything still worked, though mine were all well-wrapped during storage.
Aww, dude, that sucked. I'm sorry. Just fyi, some of the original inserts seemed to be missing too. Mine includes a big ad for Nintendo Power, a warranty card, an ad for a rechargeable battery pack, etc.
Well the 400GB Micro SDXC card in my Switch totally died this past week, so I lost all of my progress on Iris.Fall (not to mention my progress on a ton of other games since the Switch launch). Guess I'll be replaying Iris.Fall, if I can find the time. I was really enjoying it last weekend. Also, Minecraft with the kiddo.
Let's hope the new Samsung EVO card holds up better than my Sandisk one did. :'-(
The kiddo and I finally unboxed ours today and have been having a blast. We've been playing primarily in the downstairs family room so we can keep the dog out, so I can confirm the karts do fine on carpet. Also, you really don't need that much space for a good course.
Got one Mario, one Luigi coming on Monday. The kiddo is stoked! (Umm, okay, so am I, lol.)
And, luckily, I was able to cancel my pre-order from Germany once I confirmed purchasing stateside was possible early this morning, so I saved $40 bucks and we won't have to wait 2-3 weeks to play.

Re: Shantae's Game Boy Color Adventure Arrives On Nintendo Switch This Month
Great news! I'm a huge fan of the series, and even though I already have it on 3DS, I'll probably get it on the Switch as well.
Now, WayForward, how about a port of Wendy Every Witch Way?
Re: Among Us Now Has Official Plushies
That's 3:00 Eastern.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo 3DS Features That Should Really Be On Switch
Love this. My top priorities in order would be as follows:
1. Folders
2. Themes
3. Cover plates
4. Streetpass
5. Activity Log

@BoFiS Thanks! I'm going to give it a go.

Re: Review: Projection: First Light - A Brilliant Game Cruelly Betrayed By Poor Mechanics
@SwitchForce Do you mean Iris.Fall?
Re: Review: Projection: First Light - A Brilliant Game Cruelly Betrayed By Poor Mechanics
@BoFiS Did you give Projection a shot? It's on sale again now, and I'm so tempted in spite of the negative review.
Re: The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles Has Been Rated For Nintendo Switch
@MagicEmperor You've played the original AA trilogy though, right?
Re: The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles Has Been Rated For Nintendo Switch
I welcome any localization of previously unreleased (in NA) Ace Attorney games.
Re: Random: This Suggestive Bridge Made It To The Switch Version Of Super Mario 3D World
@Azuris This discussion is primarily about making jokes, as long as you ignore the few fuddy-duddies.

@AndreaF96 Actually, that's Michelango's David. Donatello's two are different.
P.S. You must be fun at parties. ;-P
Re: Random: This Suggestive Bridge Made It To The Switch Version Of Super Mario 3D World
@Mew2Senshi I think it's more having fun with it than making a fuss over it, lol.

Pretty sure you need to see a doctor if it burns when you P.
Re: Review: Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury - A Superb Mario Adventure With A Bowser Bonus
@Jedge396 It's really fun co-op, if you and your wife can play together.

@LegendOfPeach The IGN review seems more like a collection of personal peeves than a "honest" or "accurate" critique.

This just seems wrong on so many levels...

Re: Soapbox: Retro Nintendo Games Cost Too Much, But Nostalgia Is Expensive
@Mips I still play cylinders on my grandpa’s phonograph on occasion, so I’m probably not representative, lol.

Re: Poll: Which Is Your Favourite GameCube Console Variant?
We have a Pokémon XD Platinum Silver one and an indigo one. Love them both.

Re: Nintendo DS Platformer Monster Tale Is Making A Comeback On Modern Consoles
Great news! IIRC, this game toward the very end of the DS, and thus was overlooked by many.
Re: Feature: Remembering Super Mario 3D Land, 3D World’s Oft-Forgotten Predecessor
I wouldn't call it oft-overlooked, as it's one of our favorites. Still, a nice homage.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 9th)
I started Iris.Fall last night, so I might finish it up this weekend if I can find the time. Probably some Mario Kart with the kiddo too.
Re: Site News: Nintendo Life Turns 15 Today
