I really enjoy the game, its design and art style, but it’s hard for this old man! Reminds me of arcade gaming in the late 80s: you had better get good fast or your quarters would evaporate.

Nice collection of games from my youth. Have the other two collections, which I enjoy busting out every once in a while. Hope companies keep these retros collections coming with the Switch 2 as well!

I love this app. This is every video game music fan’s dream. Hope the content continues to roll and super hoping they get non-Nintendo developed game music soon.

Not sure if the layoffs were caused by the adoption of AI tech in some way, but it’s my understanding that AI is going to gut the video game industry. Most developers will no longer pay for artists and other creative types, they’ll just type in a few keywords and create some soulless characters and game worlds.

This is great for access to original black box games for the NES. I enjoyed several of these as a kid, especially Cobra Triangle and Mach Rider.

It would seem appropriate if this was paid for DLC, and I’d be happy to pay for it. Also be more than happy to pay for an Activision history DLC.

I’ve really been enjoying this, the pricing is super reasonable, and hope we get more of these “making of” presentations in the future. It’s a niche offering for sure, but If Digital Eclipse produces more of these on the classics of gaming, I’ll be buying.

I have an archive e-subscription to Retro Gamer and highly recommend the magazine to old-school fans. Great in-depth articles, high quality lay-outs, and they do an overall great job of helping to keep the classics alive!

@benjamouth Right, NL has been a week behind for awhile with AA release listings. . Surprisingly, it looks like there wasn’t an arcade archives released this week.

The movie is one of my favorites and I loved the game on PS3. Really looking forward to this re-release.

Agree with all the above comments. All the recent rare/obscure 80s releases are bewildering. Guess I just don’t get their revenue model. I thought companies like money? Assuming all the classic popular 80s and 90s release we’re all craving would be too expensive licensing wise? Would love to see a comment, or even article, explaining this.

This obviously wasn’t a mistake on their part. They must have a couple execs who are obsessed with DRM. So weak that they tried to pass it off as an accident. People commenting about it on sites like this helped change their opinion.

Was going to buy at least one of these, and now won’t be buying any. Does not need to be that complicated.

Really looking forward to playing this once it’s properly patched. And bring on the original SOTN and all its follow-ups!!

Right, I get that reasoning. It’s “painful” for retro enthusiasts to see repeats when there’s so many gems not out in the system yet. Just wishing the arcade archives releases were more plentiful. Love retro games and love the Switch putting them out.
