Video: Burn Some Rubber With Some New Team Sonic Racing Footage

I'm definitely getting Racing Transformed vibes from this, which is what I was hoping for! Looks like a good evolution of the series even if it's only for Sonic characters.

Will I like it more than MK8D? That seems unlikely, but I'm sure it will be fun anyway!

Where's Taj the Genie?...I may be thinking about something else.

Looks a bit bland and a step down from Transformed. Looks like a gamefor the kiddies. However it's Sumo Digital so I'll keep an open mind.

As someone who loved Transformed, that looks so painfully average it actually hurts. I'm hoping that's super early footage or something, because everything from track design, effects, voice overs and vehicles just look so... meh.

Hopefully it'll be good, even if it's just the Sonic universe. Transformed was brilliant on Wii U!

Considering Mario Kart 8 is closing in on 8 million sold (pre VGChartz), I'd say this game wont be a competitor. However, it will be a nice change of pace from MK8 and it could sell in the hundreds of thousands, if not crack a million if there is enough content.

Oh gosh, Sonic's current voice is so annoying. Hope the game does well but dang.

Hmmmmm is it just me or does it not give off much of a feeling of speed in that video? Really didn’t look that fast and the track looked meh. Was looking forward to this but it doesn’t look great on that at all

@Nintendofan83 ? Mario Kart is well past 8 million. Even on Wii U, it is at 8.42 million sold, easy to remember because it is the best selling game on the system, and its past 8 million for the 8th game.

If you're talking Switch its well past 8 million, passing nine million and still going.

The game doesn't really need to be a competitor, as long as it delivers a fun and interesting experience. I know many people who prefer Racing Transformed to Mario Kart, and while I disagree, I love that there's even an option, however niche it may be.

Thankfully Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing Transformed did in fact "crack a million". It deserved it, it had much less brand power than Mario but still was a success and a good game. I am not sure how well this one will sell, but if its as good or close to Transformed, I hope it's a lot.

Maybe im spoiled, but the game looks a bit slow by default (some Mario Kart titles tend to be this way also). The only REAL rush i get is with the random speed-bump items you pick up.

But i guess thats exactly why the developers slow it down to begin with; to provide more benefit to those items. Either way, i'll think about it... it DOES look pretty fun nonetheless.

@ieatdragonz I agree. People saying to just play MK8 need to get over themselves. MK8 is 4 years old at this point. Deluxe was fun and I put 40 more hours into it. However it's time for something else at this point. And this looks like a blast.

It seems F-Zero width tracks but 50cc level speed. I don't know, maybe it IS 50cc mode and a very early level, but the whole thing just felt sort of... uneventful.

I was really hoping it was going to be a true Sonic R sequel. Like characters racing each other on foot or eggman in his little hover cart. Maybe one day (:

It looks OK, but just lacks anything particularly exciting. But it just looks like a slower version of the last game, with half of the best features stripped away. Honestly, the transformations could have easily been no more than a gimmick, but were actually incredibly fun. And the roster just doesn't compare.

Transformed was is my all-time favourite karting game. Would have been way more excited for a Switch port of that.

I really want to love this. But it just looks like they went ridiculously safe with design ideas to the point that nothing stands out.

Hmmmm it doesn't look great, I'll wait until I see more before writing it off though. We definitely need an option to stop them from talking because that was painful to listen to

This looks decent to me, which is good. Have family and friends who love mario kart. So I welcome a similar game with new content to cycle between.

Here's hoping it receives a little more pollish and a proper coop story mode.

They really made the games worse by taking out the other SEGA ip's, looks like i won't be getting this entry, a shame as i loved transformed.

A bit disappointing. It looks slower, that level looked bland. The talking by the characters... Oh dear.

Seems like a step back from All-Stars Racing Transformed, hopefully the gameplay isn't too boring. I still have hope that the Adventure Mode may be good.

Hm... Racing Transformed blew MK8 out of the water in my opinion. But it’ll be hard for this to compete with MK8D, it looks good but still a downgrade compared to Transformed.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought the game was slow and didn't look that good. I really want to like the game as I like Sonic games, let's hope these issues are ironed out in time for it's release.

Mario Kart 8 is such a refined and darn near perfect title on the Switch already, that every other racer just pales in comparison. At least to me. I expect it will sell much better on other platforms.

Scared me for a second at 0:56 when I saw an egg pawn. I thought they wasted a spot on the roster for an egg pawn! Luckily, I see 3 of them, so they are probably just some kind of hazard.

So I don't mind that they ditch the other Sega characters, but this looks way too slow. There doesn't seem to be any speed involved whatsoever. I like the music and the stages and especially the part where the music changes based on the path you take is something Mario Kart could learn from.
