As the Splatoon 2 UK Championship 2018 Grand Final is happening at MCM in Birmingham's NEC this weekend, the producer of the series Hisashi Nogami decided it was worth popping into dear old Blighty to see the whole thing in action. As is the natural course of events whenever a prestigious Japanese developer comes to our country, Nintendo UK invited us over to meet Nogami-san, interview him, and force-feed him our internationally notorious food.
From haggis to baked beans to custard creams and beyond, Nogami-san was repeatedly bombarded by flavours that can only be described as regional in the video above. Make sure you watch it, as it's a good time to say the least.
Massive thanks to Nogami-san for meeting with us, and Nintendo UK for organising this strange afternoon.

Right, I know it's my national dish but haggis is absolutely bogging and I'll fight anyone that tries to say otherwise.
Nothing to represent Wales or Northern Ireland? Such a shame. I'd love to see him tackle an Ulster Fry
Good. If we don't get Splatoon 3, we know who to blame!
Well GoNintendo thinks Nintendo Life is Nintendo UK:

What a title NL!
Eggxcellent!
@Bunkerneath No, that's just what NintendoLife uses in the description on the Youtube video. Besides they were in the Nintendo UK office.
@nessisonett Ye cannae beat a Spicy Haggis Pudding supper wi awhing on it.
Big haggis fan here, love it. As I do black/white/red pudding
Haggis and creamy mash with a pint of hogs back T.E.A , live the dream.
Funny to have Spam and Heinz Baked Beans representing the UK, but you were concerned about the origin of Battenberg cake.
@AlexOlney
Thanks I really enjoyed that, your best video!
@OorWullie Wait there's a red one!? I've never heard of that....
So British fare was a plate of diabetes.
@Kimyonaakuma Yep but it's a bit harder to get. I think only chippy's in Fife sell it. It's the worst of the 3 but still scrannable.
Haggis Pakora. Oh my days.
@Bunkerneath Likely a reference to the fact Nintendo UK set it up?
Who's that tea serving person with the white gloves? Did you guys hire an ober and told him to dress like Mario? You did, didn't you
This was fun AND educational for me. Now, I will be learning to make Scotch Eggs.
Why did you torment the guy ? Seriously
@OorWullie Nothing quite like a pizza crunch fae Crolla’s in Glasgow, now that is a scran and a half.
hagis is good though, one of my favourites. I don't think a Japanese person would like it though lol
@nessisonett how dare you if you get nice haggis not mass produced garbage from asda its exellent. if its from asda drink half bottle first
Gotta love custard creams.
@OorWullie Well I'll need to find it the next time I'm in Fife, gotta catch (or try) 'em all!
Splatoon 3 will now skip UK.
I went into this video thinking "Okay... 13 minutes of Splatoon, and a little laugh with the food at the end."
I was wrong. And I am happy I am.
fantastic video well done NL!
I look forward to seeing Alex sharing a packet of Jaffa cakes with Miyamoto next.
That was the first and last time Nogami ever visited the UK.
Great article, I would like to see more like this!
Haggis isn't British. Its Scottish. You can't keep taking from the Scots forever. Bah English!
@bolt05 Scotland makes up ~37% of the island of Great Britain and ~32% of the nation of the UK. What is Scottish is British, though the converse doesn’t necessarily hold. More information on set theory, see here.
@bolt05
The earliest recorded recipe for haggis is from Lincolnshire so It's English.
@Randomlight According to this article, an early version of haggis is mentioned in Homer’s Odyssey: https://www.scotsman.com/read-this/the-history-of-haggis-is-scotlands-national-dish-really-scottish/
But I’m still claiming it as Scottish
Forced anything should probably be regrettable.
@Randomlight That's very much debatable!
The multi colored cake and custard creams sound good.
I don't like milk in my tea either. I'm not a milk person really.
Spam is gross. How can anyone eat that crap? He looked like he was giving it the stink eye.
The Scotch Egg doesn't sound bad. Looks kinda weird though.
He wasn't looking particularly enthusiastic about the haggis. XD
I'm surprised you didn't put him off baked beans forever by giving them cold :/
@CaitlinMA
What are neeps and tatties?
Jings, crivvens and help ma boab!
