The big release for the Nintendo Switch this month is New Pokémon Snap. In case you didn't know, it's a follow-up to the original game, which first arrived on the Nintendo 64 in 1999.
If you're eager to see just a little bit more of this game in action before its release, Nintendo of America has now published two new commercials on its YouTube channel, showing off the game's many environments and Pokémon.
Nintendo has also released its very own custom emoji for the new Snap entry on Twitter, and if that's not already enough, last week it shared a six-minute gameplay video - showing off a lot of finer details.

Is that really what they're going to call it? Wow...
I do wonder how long it'll be, maybe 30 hours? That would be very short for completion. But regardless, it would take something special for TPC to get me to buy another one of their games, even if it isn't made by gamefreak.
I've already reserved mine! I loved the first game so much, I'm so glad they're finally doing another one that seems to bring all the charm of that one to the current gen.
The Pokemon models look really good in this game. Definitely want to check this one out.
April 30th can’t come soon enough!
I have it preordered. Really enjoyed the N64 game. I think we may even have some of the pictures somewhere that my son printed out at Blockbuster back then.
@Longondo Have you played the first game? That’s virtually what the game is, with a little bit puzzle elements thrown in to get pictures of all the Pokémon and the highest-graded photos. It’s kind of a tough call if you’re on the fence about it, especially for a full price game
I'll probably get this game at some point. But I'm waiting to hear more about it. If the main bulk of the game is just replaying the same content over and over hoping for RNG to bless me with a rare spawn... that ain't worth full price.
But if there are perhaps several different routes leading to different areas or different times of day/weather? That would be more interesting.
It would also be nice if there is some connectivity with the main series. Maybe they could add a new tiny DLC to Pokemon SWSH where you get the outfit of the MC of Snap that your trainer can wear in SWSH.
I know Snap on N64 was very short and the replay came from the RNG and rare spawns. But that was largely due to the limitations of the technology at that time. I don't want the excuse of "the original game was short, so this one can be too" to be the argument of the day.
@Longondo Assuming its like the original yes. Think of it like a pokemon equivalent of star fox 64 where the start to end will probably be short, but there's different routes and techniques you can try to replay levels and see everything/get a high score
The lighting/glow effects are ok, but all the other graphics are flat, washed out, and outdated af 😕
inb4 "the graphics look like a ps1 game"
I can't wait for the complaints that its an on-rail photography game, as if that's not what the original was. As if that's not what people have been asking for for the better part of two decades. It looks as entertaining as the original Snap looks to me, which is not at all. I think it's great that Nintendo/The Pokemon Company listened to what people wanted, though. Hopefully that carries over into other games, like F-Zero for example.
@Heavyarms55 the original wasn't based on RNG and rare spawns. You had to manipulate the Pokémon and environment yourself for scripted events
I remember the N64 version. I found it boring. Graphically this game looks pretty nice, but you’re gonna have to do more for a game than just take a picture or throw a few mini games in there. Sure you get to catch them all, But I can do that for the main game so…… Yeah.
Great to see there will be day time and night time versions of the stages. I just want the game to be longer than the original....a lot longer!
@weisske
Do you even have eyes? Have you ever played a PS1 game?
@DaniPooo
That's the point. I'm making fun of the people who have been saying that this looks like a ps1 or a ps2 game.
I actually have a brain so I don't think that.
