Re: E3 2016: Ubisoft is Confident That Nintendo NX Can Recapture 'Lapsed Wii Players'

daniruy

It sounds like nothing really. I've played plenty of Ubisoft games on my WiiU - Rayman Legends, Assassin's Creed IV and ZombiU - they are fantastic and I wish more of that could come, but when they show only open world games with that bla-bla-bla, drugs, etc, I just lose interest. Really don't care about the games they announced yesterday on a Nintendo platform.

More Rayman? Bring it on. please.

Sony's conference was great. They gave me one good reason to buy a PS4: Resident Evil VII - franchise that I am a huge fan of. Microsoft's was alright. Ubisoft was depressing and annoying for plenty of reasons.

Now, Zelda...

I know it's not the first time a game with the same premisses is released. Skyrim works like that alright. Plenty of games use similar mechanics. But having those mechanics and premisses brought to Hyrule is something HUGE. I'm all in for sure. Counting the days to play that beauty for years to come - and replay it with my daughter Sophia!

Re: Review: EarthBound (New 3DS / SNES)

daniruy

I have a problem with this game. I played it back in the 90's, when my English was nowhere to be heard. It was okay, and I never finished it.

In 2013 I moved to Ireland and bought a WiiU. Eventually, I bought this, knowing the language well enough to be moved by the brilliance of Eathbound. I call my party after my wife, brother and one of my best friends, all of them (but my wife) far away, in Brazil.

And I missed my friends, and specially my mom, A LOT because of the game, man.

I want to play that again, but I am afraid I am going to sob this time, since MY baby is on its way.

Re: Editorial: Nintendo's Virtual Console Revolution Must Wait as We Pay Once More for SNES Games

Thomas, stop buying it.
I did stop and feel much better. After seeing the wonderful job M2 did with the Sega Genesis I started looking at the VC with suspition.

I love it, don't get me wrong. Currently I am playing Breath of Fire 2 and Street Fighter Alpha 2. Just finished Mario & Luigi. I love that. Am still waiting for Lufia 1 and 2, though.

But I am okay of having those games available for me ONCE. I don't get why Nintendo keeps releasing them instead of getting new games.

The streaming is a wonderful idea. It's a pity Nintendo does not think so.

Re: Feature: Why We're Still Playing... Star Fox 64 / 3D

I also keep coming back to this. It reminds me of a tranquil afternoon with my brother, playing one life each and craving for the Independe Day stage. This is a very dear memory and I like to feel I relive it again, although I actually can't. Brother is in Brazil. I'm in Bucks... And my copy of Star Fox is in Dublin with a friend, damn

Re: Did You Know Gaming Explores Mario & Religion

It was amusing actually. I enjoyed the comparisons. It made me recall a situation when I was a child in which the pastor of the church I used to go told us we should be aware of the presence of evil everywhere. Then I played Super Mario RPG and the Axem Rangers say: 'We fight for evil!' With my poor English of then I thought: 'That is it. Found the devil here.'

I was REALLY sad I could not play Mario RPG anymore. Then I grew up a bit, figured it was nonsense and finished the game - and eventually, left that church for a serious one.

Re: Feature: There and Back Again - A Xenoblade Tale

@Shiryu Caro amigo (dear friend)

You have written a glorious piece here. I share this JRPG passion with you. Being a Brazilian I can say that titles as Lufia: Fortress of Doom, Breath of Fire, Final Fantasy VI and Super Mario RPG were the first titles (with Mega Man X) that taught me English. But I had forgotten how wonderful is this genre.

Then, Xenoblade came to my life. I didn't play it all at once (took me almost 2 years to finish the game) and I can say I understood the game and its mechanics after 50+ of gameplay.

I finished it two weeks ago and I am still thinking about it.

Obrigado, rapaz. Fantástico esse artigo seu.
(Thanks lad. Fantastic article)

Re: iOS and Android Receive Pokémon Shuffle Mobile in Japan

daniruy

I actually like this game, and I'd rather play it on my smartphone than on the 3DS. I'm totally in.

Now, if feels to me that Nintendo is now seriously aiming the mobile market. If NX happens to be a platform that has a WiiU-ish portable controller, it makes sense to transform my smartphone in another Nintendo device.

(I would actually enjoy a Cyberdine: Nintendo Edition by the way)

Re: Mario History: Super Mario 64 - 1996

daniruy

In 1997 Daniel was an innocent, unharmed by life Brazilian who wanted just one thing in the world: a N64. He even prayed to God to give him one.

I'll never forget the October 12 (Brazilian Children Day, therefore bank holiday), when my dad gave me one and my little brother and I bopted it up.

I can still hear in my mind the staff roll song.

God be praised for the N64

Re: Mario Memories: Being Taken To A New World In Super Mario Galaxy

daniruy

Tom, I totally understand you, mate. I skipped the GameCube - was in college, doing Biology lessons and struggling to be a secondary school teacher. Then my mom gave me this blessed thing called Wii.

When I played Super Mario Galaxy, it was a moment of wonder after another after another. Gusty Gardens captived me so much I played several times just to hear that music. It was the first time I realized video games are an art form. Seriusly, man, it was - literally - watersheding.

After that, Metroid Prime 3 and Galaxy 2 (and the Gamecube library I caught up afterwards) I couldn't understand why people didn't own a Wii.

I still can't.

Re: Nintendo President Satoru Iwata Passes Away Aged 55

daniruy

This is terrible to hear. I wasn't expecting it. We were celebrating my grandmother's 85th birthday, and she is very much alive, although fighting cancer. Iwata was only 55, was brilliant, and his leadership philosophy influenced me more than I know right now. May God give comfort to his family and to us, Nintendo fans.
