As some reading these pages know a number of the Nintendo Life team are based in the UK, and through our friendship with The Centre for Computing History in Cambridge we occasionally host gaming events with that awesome organisation. Our next one is lined up, and instead of the late evening shenanigans and debauchery typically associated with gaming events (well, some of them), for our next gathering we're going to be a little more family friendly.
On Saturday 30th July we'll be hosting the Nintendo Life Gaming Night at the centre, from 3pm to 10pm. Below are some details from our event page:
Those who attend will have the chance to play all of Nintendo's classic consoles, including the NES, Game Boy, SNES, N64 and even the mighty Virtual Boy. There will be systems sourced from multiple regions around the world along with special multiplayer areas for classics like Pac-Man Vs., GoldenEye and a host of Mario Kart entries.
In addition we'll be hosting a Mario Kart 8 tournament with some fantastic prizes, for those that want a more "modern" touch to their evening.
You'll also have the chance to meet indie developers such as Utopian World of Sandwiches and try out the brilliant Chompy Chomp Chomp Party, a Wii U game that supports a staggering nine players at once.
StreetPass will naturally be a big part of this event, and we've got plenty of dedicated groups attending for this very reason - if you've got puzzle pieces left to collect then be sure to bring your 3DS along. Younger gamers will be able to come along early and enter a special contest, too.
Once you've had enough gaming you can look at some displays showing the entire history of Nintendo gaming. There'll also be a display on the struggles Nintendo has had with piracy, including some exotic carts and shady copying devices you may never have seen before. For those dedicated to enjoying retro games the right way, Retrospective22 will also be on hand with some gorgeous modded consoles to gaze at and buy.
There'll be some members of the Nintendo Life team there to say hi, too, including our very own YouTube rockstar Alex Olney.
If you fancy coming along you can pick up reasonably priced tickets right here, including a discount rate on a family ticket.
We hope to see you there!

Yay! Guys will be my first! One one the things I was looking forward to move to England was that kind of thing! Count me in!
I've visited England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales as a teenager. Beautiful country (US is beatiful too of course). I especially liked the Ring of Kerry and the sheep herders of Ireland. Oh, and London was amazing, and Edinborough. Kissed the Blarney Stone and all that jazz. Too young to go to any taverns at the time. Probably for the best. Might have gotten beat up by a bunch of soccer hooligans
Anyways, I'd love to come but the Atlantic Ocean has a little say in this, and I don't think my kayak will make it.
Brilliant! I enjoyed the last one. See you there, NL
This sounds fun. I don't live too far from Cambridge (though I'm far enough away to play lots of Monster Hunter while journeying to work).
I completely forgot to attend to previous one, so I might come along to this.
Hmm it'd take me a couple of hours to get there... But I'll have finished my exams and therefore be in the middle of a massive break so I could actually probably come to this! I've never really spoken to any of the nindylife team apart from when Alex read my question once so it'd be nice to meet some of you guys! And also fellow nindylifers there's quite a few people here who I'd like to meet in person if there also heading to the event so that would be nice too! I'll see if I can come but as a Nintendo fan guy who spends 80% of his channel making videos about Nintendo I'd love to come to this!
@JaxonH Aah, the classic, "Would love to come, but... too much water" excuse. Never fails.
@Maxz
The ol' "Too much water" line lol...
Hey, it worked for IGN...
@ThomasBW84 Will you be in attendance?
Also, I would love to come to the event, but like @JaxonH, there is this small thing we call the Altantic Ocean in my way.
I would love to come to this and it isn't far from me if I take the London Underground as live in London... I meet the lovely Nintendolife team every year at EGX And yes I have tickets for this years EGX lol
I should be there myself. Seriously guys, if you haven't been to the Centre for Computing History, you'll love it. I used to work there and the place is huge. Also, the archive of games is insane.
Also you'll meet the friendly chaps from NL too!
I would love to go, sadly my parents wouldn't let me. I would enter the mk8 tournament and try out the elusive virtual boy
Hmmmm. My daughter is being born in two weeks so would be around three months old. Should we take her? Decisions........
I'd really like to go, can't say I've been to a gaming event since I was a teenager though and I'm in my 30's now.
Hmm... a chance to hit @AlexOlney in the groin?
Tempted.
@dorkeybubblehead i was jsut planning on throwing paper airplane ducks. AS WE ALL SHOULD!!!
@ekreig ditto. props nlife.
