Re: Mario Movie Star Chris Pratt Says Sequel News Is Coming "Soon"

@Rainz Movies are not games. Mario games can get away with thin storytelling because the gameplay itself is part of the narrative, but you can't directly translate that to something that's meant to be seen and not played, at least not without the underlying flaws becoming a lot more noticeable. Unless you were to somehow create a "choose your own adventure" (which sure as heck ain't happening for a movie meant to be seen by hundreds of people in a theater at once), the storytelling has to compensate. The Mario movie got the reviews it got because it kinda dropped the ball on that front.

There's clearly space behind that area that's been marked for expansion, you can see where it leads in overviews.

Right now it probably functions as an entry door for cast members (most theme parks tend to have those out in the open), but the DK expansion is inevitable unless COVID were to cripple the park that badly.

@mjharper

The tiny text was a big reason I put down X for a long time. Even on a 50 inch tv it was frustrating to read, especially when large chunks of the game do not feature voiceover.

I find it very annoying as well how so many of the examples in this post have huge negative spaces in their text boxes on top of the hard to read text. It isn't even very appealing from a graphic design standpoint.

Re: Exclusive: We Almost Got A Wii U F-Zero Created By Burnout Studio Criterion

If I have to make an uneducated guess the relationship with EA going south is why Criterion wasn't approached again after Need For Speed Most Wanted was finished (as since EA owns Criterion they would likely need their approval before they make a game for another publisher).

@CB85 It sounds more like the prototype they would've made would be shown at E3 and then be developed into a full game, like what they did with Star Fox Zero.

@antonvaltaz

Pretty much. The Jim Henson Company sold off the rights to the Muppets to Disney in 2004 but the company itself remains independent.

The puppet scenes were fun, but I found that while Iwata and Miyamoto voice the puppet versions of themselves, it was a bit distracting that Reggie didn't. Would've been more consistent if either all three were on board or they all had different voices. But that's just me nitpicking.

@NintyMan
This.

The idea of Mario Galaxy HD always felt like a waste of time to me (the original is perfectly playable on Wii U and can still be easily located in stores) and Nintendo'd be better off going ahead with a third game. At least Mario Sunshine HD, though I won't have it either way, would make more sense.

I played it a bit on PC a while back. The art style reminded me of those flash games I used to play on Newgrounds years ago (there was this beat-em up I really liked starring a purple kid with a mask going around beating up other kids, I think it was called Dad & Me?)

Edit: Oh and Castle Crashers on Xbox Live Arcade, which was awesome. I'd like to see that game on Wii U.

I wish I had a "I did NOT see this coming" gif at my disposal.

I'm more interested in Codename NX than this, but I wouldn't be surprised to see stock soar soon because of this.

Edit: I assume that new membership service will be Club Nintendo's replacement?

Re: Sony Pictures Is In Negotiations With Nintendo To Make A Super Mario Movie

In order for me to have any hope in this project, one of two things must happen:

1. They get Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the duo behind Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs and Lego Movie to direct. If anyone can make a stupid idea awesome, it's them.

2. They get Rich Moore, the guy who directed Wreck-It-Ralph. He seems to know his way around video games and how to make them work on screen.

Also, Sony backs down from having too much creative control and let the director + Nintendo do their input.

Re: Rumour: Has Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem Been Cancelled?

@jariw

Because who wants to actually go on 4chan and check? For your own safety/sanity it's best one avoids that site like the plague and get their info from third-party sources.

On-topic, collaborations like this are admittedly trickier to pull off than handing out a license to a third-party developer (like what Nintendo did with Hyrule Warriors) since there's bound to be creative conflicts and one studio being more protective of it's franchise than the other. If this rumor is true (and that's a big IF) then it'd be a shame, since it was one of the earlier announced Wii U titles I was very much looking forward to.

On the bright side it would allow IS to go back developing a mainline Fire Emblem instead.
