Famitsu's Japanese chart figures are now in for the week ending 25th July, revealing that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD has stayed on top for a second week running.
The game sold another 42,642 copies at retail this week, taking its total to just over 200,000 physical units sold across its first two weeks. It stays ahead of Crayon Shin-chan which also debuted last week.

no twewy or phoenix wright? *****
Doesn't suprise me, fantastic game, 8 hours in and loving it!! Bring on OoT, MM and WW allstars (Switch HD) remastered and you have my money in advance!
Whoa! Look at Xbox go! PS5 starting to get somewhat respectable too. Just wait till Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania releases. Switches will fly off the shelves at an unprecidented lev-what?
I just realized that Ring Fit Adventure sold more overall on Switch than Minecraft (Switch)...
@megallade That's because Ace Attorney released just today in japan unlike the rest of the world
Great performance for Skyward Sword HD,
Game Builder Garage is also doing vert well, and that's well deserved in my opinion
The Xbox series s/x is actually doing okay in Japan? That's newsworthy.
In February 2020 the Xbox One had only sold about 100k units. The 'Series' consoles are already at almost 70k, and the launch was in November. Well done Microsoft!
@megallade "Famitsu's Japanese chart figures are now in for the week ending 25th July"
They both came out on July 27th
@nukatha Really well, all things considered !
I gotta be honest, without the motion controls I had a blast playing the game. I still don't think it's one of the best Zelda games, but a lot better than my first impression on the Wii.
It's sooooo good and even better now it has button controls!
Looks like the Nintendoom crowd has to scurry away with their tails between their legs, again, with Skyward Sword HD doing just fine. I'm thinking the hate train for Pokemon BDSM... err, BDSP will be coming back around soon, though.
Glad to see Mario Golf on the list.
Really hope NEO TWEWY does well this week! Been loving it so far!
When I was rejoicing in Nintendo winning Amazon's sales the other day, a friend of mine told me that Nintendo users are more likely to buy physical copies than Playstation/XBOX users, mainly because Nintendo is family-oriented and children are much more pleased with cartridges than with digital copies.
That would explain why Nintendo is ahead in sales. Any thoughts?
Xbox and ps5 are about to lose against a last gen console... and that’s amazing!!!
Removed - unconstructive; user is banned
@PallasCat Generation is not over but probably. I hear some people consider the Switch as current-gen but IDK about that.
So does Microsoft not offer Game Pass in Japan or does the Japanese audience just doesn't like free digital games?
Nice to see for SSHD, since Zelda games traditionally haven't been as popular in Japan.
Between that and it launching at the very end of the Wii life cycle, there was obviously a huge market of people who didn't play it the 1st time around. It was always going to be a full price release.
@SwankyKong64 Yeah but it doesn't seem like it suck this past week though.
Is it me or are newer Switch games not selling nearly as well?
Konami, bring your baseball games to the west, dammit!
TWEWY performing poorly...:/
@Vertpin The chart ended two days before TWEWY came out. There's no numbers for it yet.
@Specter_of-the_OLED technically not free but reasonably priced.
@Thrallherd Hm, if that were true, more people would be buying the digital only versions of the PS5 and XBS rather than the ones that can read discs.
Also, at this moment there's just few if any PS5/XBS games that cater to Japanese gaming audiences.
Such is the Power of Nintendo!
And wow at X-Box Series numbers. They're really growing.
I will visit Japan to buy an Xbox Series X
@SKTTR I was hoping for Yokai Watch 4++ getting localized and now that's not happening. Several games that are Japan region only and I don't read Japanese
@Thrallherd I’d say your friend’s not wrong, as the PS’ and Xbox’s have large hard drives to encourage digital downloads. But I’d also say Nintendo’s software as a whole is selling well both physically and digitally fueled by a hot console. If he’s concerned who’s officially “winning” then tell him he is and spare yourself a pointless argument 😉
@BanjoPickles They can't all be Animal Crossing lol
Can't believe it's coming up on a year since the PS5 launched in Japan and still hasn't crossed 1 million sales yet...wow.
@Bizzyb took the ps4 12 months to hit 1.1 million sales in Japan. Japanese gamers love Nintendo. But since the PS5 is the fastest selling console in Sony's history, I'm sure they are not to worried.
@nukatha Those numbers are pretty abysmal.
I've finished Skyward Sword HD 100% in 30 hours and then finished a hero mode file in 10 hours with 6 hearts...I really, really love Skyward Sword
@cookiex totally makes sense, I’m an idiot.
Maybe it was Mario Golf's last week in the top ten, unfortunately. I thought it would sell more than it's been doing
I love that fact that this blew up in the haters face. Zelda won and there is nothing these cry babies can do about. So I enjoy it when the haters lose. Keep on selling skyward sword. We real gamers are enjoying this great game. And for many for the very first time.
SixtyDollarGate never reached Japan it seems. Oh well. Noticed the banhammer has been coming down hard recently, long may it continue. 👍🏻
I was expecting to see some Sony games......
