Re: Iwata Braves Press Conference to Explain Nintendo's Earnings

@DestinyMan

I think a big part in NSMB DS and Wii's successes was that they were accesible and at the time it seemed fresh to go back to basics, not to mention the latter introduced four-player Mario platforming for the first time ever. But by the time a third and fourth game came around, the magic had worn off. 3D Mario often changes for each generation, so it has avoided landing in that rut.

Anouma-san has talked for months about how he's looking to go rethink the Zelda conventions in the next game which, mind you, is an experiment in of itself and A FAR GREATER RISK than turning in a new art style. But when he says he's going to play conservative with the art style, some people start with "ooh they're too afraid to experiment anymore because the fans won't like it" even though the 3D Zeldas have been following a similar way of game progression since Ocarina of Time and are just NOW going to shake things up, which if executed poorly would be far more disasterous than introducing a new art style fans wouldn't like at first.

@unrandomsam

That makes no sense. The idea of a review is for the reviewer to give out a personal opinion. If the person who reviews the product thinks it's a 9/10 game regardless of what kind of game it is then they should be allowed to give it a 9/10. You shouldn't change the score because the type of game it is doesn't appeal to everyone, or because the majority would disagree. If one were to disagree with the opinion or think the game won't appeal to them, it's their problem.

Re: Nintendo Download: 24th October (Europe)

Just a heads up, a new message on the EU eShop states that it'll be undergoing maintenance tonight between 20:00 UTC and 00:00 UTC. Don't know if that applies to Miiverse or eShop in other regions as well.

Re: UK Retailer GAME Less Than Happy With Rivals Ignoring Pokémon X & Y Street Date

Am I the only one who thinks this could've been largely avoided by releasing Pokémon on Friday the 11th as opposed to Saturday the 12th? Saturday releases are problematic in Europe where most retailers close early and (in places like Germany) don't open at all on Sunday. Plus Nintendo games otherwise come out on a Friday in EU, so I can also easily see retailers mixing up the street date.

Re: Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut Is A 14GB Download On Wii U

The largest game I've ever downloaded on Wii U was Tekken Tag Tournament 2 at 16 GB. Took two days, but my internet connection was kinda crappy at the time and it's a lot faster now that I upgraded to fiber cable.

And yes could we have a list of d/l sizes? It would be helpful instead of having to track down articles of each game.
