Update:
Also arrives in Australia and New Zealand on 9th May.
Original Article:
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse has been out in North America since 20th February, providing Wii U gamers in the region with their first major retail release on the home console of 2015. Until now gamers in Europe were simply told it was coming later in the year, with the expectation - oddly - that it'd arrive in the second half of 2015.
Thankfully some sanity has prevailed, and Nintendo of Europe has confirmed that it's now a little under two months away; Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush - as it'll be known in Europe - will arrive on 8th May.
This title primarily uses the GamePad and stylus controls to draw lines on which Kirby can roll, though another three players can join in and help with more conventional platforming. This is a game some are regarding as possibly the best-looking on Wii U yet, with a gorgeous clay aesthetic to enjoy on the TV - if you can drag your eyes up from the GamePad screen.
We enjoyed this one in our Kirby and the Rainbow Curse review which, despite a few areas that we felt didn't deliver to their potential, received a 7/10.
How many of you Wii U owners in Europe are planning to pick this one up on 8th May?

I'm very happy it's sooner rather than later, but it's kind of baffling they have no releases for 6 months and then two in one month. I really hope Splatoon doesn't get one of those delays like Tropical Freeze and Captain Toad where it's done but gets held back to space out the releases.
I was going to hold off on this until it got cheap but TheGameCollection had it up for £24 (Nintendo's Price is £40) so I've ordered it.
They need this long to come up with a vastly inferior title for the game?
There's already Witcher 3 and Splatoon coming out in May, but I'll always find time for some clay Kirby
@alLabouTandroiD How can the EU title be inferior if it's five letters longer? 11 weeks of delay for 5 letters sounds legit.
They must have their reasons but given Cpt Toad launched in Jan and Mario Party 10 is out this March, Rainbow Paintbrush would have been better off with an April release, seeing as how Splatoon is coming in May.
@alLabouTandroiD It's because the original DS game (Kirby: Canvas Curse) was renamed as Kirby: Power Paintbrush in Europe for some strange, unknown reason.
The worst one they did it with was Kirby: Squeak Squad....that got renamed as Kirby: Mouse Attack in Europe. Not only is it a stupid name, but it's also quite easy to confuse it with Kirby: Mass Attack when you're trying to talk to somebody about it
I fail to see why the title needs to be changed. Like Mario & Luigi Dream Team having the word "Bros" added to the end of it, or Sly Cooper being changed to Sly Racoon due to a slang swear word that I'd never even heard of living in the UK, this is a pretty pointless change.
As for the game, I'll certainly be picking it up as it looks like a lot of fun, and I've been wanting a game that I can just play with the GamePad for a while, as I only really look at it for VC games at the moment.
Why is this being released so much later again?
The funny thing is that Codename STEAM has a 2 months delay for EU, and it will be released just one week after Kirby. Meh.
I will be getting it. I hope they bring out more Dedede and Meta Knight amiibo's to support it
Honestly; why the hell the name change. Now it just sounds silly and patronising.
This is great news! So splatoon, codename steam and Kirby all in May? Fantastically scheduled Nintendo, good job
@Folkloner
There's a retail title coming out next week. It's called Mario Party 10, you might have heard of it.
DO NOT TELL ME YOU'RE DELAYING SPLATOON FOR THIS NINTENDO OF EUROPE!
Okay I'm calm now. I hope this doesn't mean we'll have to wait for Splatoon a little longer than 'murica.
@Crimson_Ridley @Kirk
It's to be consistent with the DS game. In North America that was canvas curse and the Wii U sequel is Rainbow Curse. In Europe the DS game was Power Paintbrush so the Wii U version is Rainbow Paintbrush.
Kawaii
YESS THANK GOD, im gonna buy it, no doubt. Im soooo excited ^^
This better not mean Splatoon is delayed
Guessing this is replacing the delayed Mario Maker.
It's called Kirby Touch! in Japan, so stop saying "ooh, Europe changed the name". In the US they went with 'Rainbow Curse', and in Europe they went with 'Rainbow Paintbrush'. Nintendo Europe hasn't changed anything different from the American version; the two regions simply went with different names.
Nintendo needs to stop announcing release dates in years, seasons, quarters, or halves, I just don't think they know what any of those things means. They should stick to months, less room for confusion.
The name changes may be confusing for Australians because up until the release of the 3DS, all Nintendo games were, for the most part, U.S. versions. Ever since we've been paired with Europe, we've been getting the European releases of games (including Virtual Console releases; meaning that these emulations are not necessarily the versions that we remember).
We originally received the U.S. versions of Kirby: Canvas Curse, Pokémon Trozei and the like, however, their sequels in Australia are the European versions; Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush and Pokémon Link: Battle respectively.
Finally some good news for Europe...okay, not exactly good news, this should've come out in February, but at least news.
Well, there you have it, Europeans! It was delayed this long so they could arbitrarily change the name.
@EvisceratorX Not just a reply to you, but we've known this for.. months..? I don't think anybody ever expected it to be called Rainbow Curse. iirc that was known since its initial reveal during E3. It has always been Rainbow Paintbrush.
@cookiex Heard of it! Why i have it on pre-order! Heh. See this is why i shouldn't comment on anything first thing in the morning, as my brain clearly wasn't working.
On my walk to work i soon realized my error but i haven't been able to fix it until now. Thanks for keeping me honest nonetheless.
@Inkling I'm sure Splatoon will be fine given that it's main focus is online multiplayer. If their servers can't cope with the world then it should've been delayed for everyone to fix that issue.
I will be closely watching as many online stores as I possibly can to see if any retailer announces a limited edition version of the game.
I would honestly like it if there was an edition of the game which comes with something as simple as an actual paintbrush-like stylus.
I think that's very late! Sure Q4 couldn't be real, but I expected end of March, or April at the least. Ah well, I wait.
