I'm sorry, what? Am I imagining things but didn't the GB, GBC, GBA, GG, Lynx, PSP, DS, 3DS including the XL variants and any other handheld console have smaller (often significantly so) screens then the "miniscule" Switch? That has to be one of the worst descriptions I've ever seen of a console

How can we make our dislike of the purple Gamecube even dumber? Oh yes let's call it a female colour.

I swear to god some of these executives are stupid, sounds like the numpties who used to run Sega of America. Thankfully they weren't listened to as the purple Gamecube looks great and the black variant is boring to look at

If there is a better looking game from back then I haven't played it, playing this on Dolphin with just a resolution boost and it could easily pass for a far more modern game

I imagine this may have been more popular had it been 2 players from the start, I've just bought the Luigi set for my son's birthday but may have to get a Mario on as well now

Not sure I'll be getting this but I still regularly use my Wii U, a fantastic console and one which provides a great many game to the Switch too

What odds that none of those pictured will be 75% off?

We all know Nintendo's own games will have relatively minor sales but fingers crossed for some othe games not made by Ubisoft to have a decent sale

@ferryb001 I've never seen the rain that bad on Switch, the effect looks like its turned down so I've not had an issue with it. A few on here are trying to tell me the game is unplayable but I've easily made it through quite a few missions on Vice City and had fun doing so

@batata it's not unplayable at all that's just nonsense, I've easily completed every mission so far with no problems. I'm not in anyway suggesting these are good ports but they are better then a 0.5

I've actually been bouncing between Vice City and Animal Crossing these last few days, I suspect in a month or so I'll still be playing Animal Crossing but probably not GTA

I've only really put any time into Vice City and whilst performance isn't very good its very playable and I've had a good time playing it. I've taken the mansion from Ricardo Diaz and the framerate has never got in the way of me completing missions. I've only played GTA 3 briefly and that did seem worse.

It's far from the worst performing game I've ever played, Skyrim on PS3 was way worse for example. Maybe it's because I regularly play retro games so low framerates don't bother me as much but whilst these should obviously be much better, I still think its been overblown somewhat apart from that rain effect which is truly terrible

@Zanzox the stories and animation are the same as they always were and if anything the controls are better. The graphics you can argue either way

Having played it on Switch its nowhere near deserving of such a score. Most of that is pure emotion over what people think they should have done with those games. I've played far buggier and worse performing games over the years.

Whatever you think about the visual design choices they have made, fundamentally these are still the same games they always were and the worst things they have done is call them the definitive edition and have such a high price point for minimal effort

@Anti-Matter that's a shame, luckily for me there are lots of amazing games available through backwards compatibility that I like playing

@Ristar24 yeah it seems they had to cull some settings for Switch, from what it sounds like both the original engine and Unreal are running concurrently and that's how they got it to feel just like the originals. Though with Switch and its limited CPU and memory bandwidth it's not the best combination, at least as an educated guess

@nintendoknife it's using a more realistic lighting model that's all, the original has lots of fake lights in alleyways that makes it very bright when there's no actual light source. The remaster appears to have done away with these for global illumination but with no real thought about how that affects every area of the game

It depends on what you think is better, the originals lighting is a lot more colourful but many of those lights just come out of the floor or walls, there is no light source that makes any sense. The new version is more accurate but can be less visually appealing

@gokev13 nor have I, I've played better N64 emulation but this is by no means poor and many will get worse input lag through their TV then whatever this emulator adds

@Edu23XWiiU because many on here are talking out of their backside, the emulation is perfectly fine and as for the missing fog on Ocarina, it's not a big issue. As someone who played it on an N64 at launch and its one of my favourite ever games, I can wholeheartedly say that I don't care if its missing and it made no difference to my enjoyment of that part of the game, I'm just going to keep having fun with it

@WallyWest I'm playing Vice City on Switch and despite a choppy framerate at times when driving at speed, its more than playable. I've just taken out Diaz to get the mansion in the middle of the map and I've had no problems completing any missions due to performance and thankfully that rain effect isn't quite as pronounced on Switch

I'm bouncing between Animal Crossing New Horizons, GTA Vice City and Ocarina of Time on Switch.

Started a new island on AC and the Town Hall has just been built so hopefully not too long until the extra content unlocks. Whilst on Vice City I'm not fair off taking down Ricardo Diaz and for an unplayable game I've sure found it easy to get to this point and had fun whilst doing so

@Stocksy streaming a film and emulating a video games console are 2 very different things. I've put a few hours into both of the games I've mentioned and had no issues whatsoever, so yeah I'd say they're fine

Having played a fair bit if Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time, calling the emulation poor is just flat out nonsense. It's fine, could be better but it's good overall

I'm a few hours into Vice City and having a blast with it, sure the framerate is choppy when driving at speed but not unplayable by any means. Performance should absolutely be better and there are some weird design choices.

Let's be honest here though, the original games never had amazing gameplay, the shooting was awkward, driving only half decent in San Andreas and just moving around was pretty poor. These were great games because of the world's they created, the story, cast and soundtrack and the chaos you could cause.

Back to this and of the performance was a bit more steady I'd say they played better than the originals and they look better too

@KillerBOB @GrailUK playing Vice City on Switch, the pop in is basically the same as it was on the PS2 and I've had no issues weaving through traffic and the originals controlled pretty poorly anyway. I'd say these actually play pretty similar to the PS2 originals but with a less consistent framerate

I'll stand by what I said before in that these remasters could and should have been much better but I've still had a good time with them so far

I've played 3 or 4 hours of Vice City and it plays fine, definitely could be better performance wise but miles away from being unplayable and no worse then I remember the originals or GTA5 on PS3. Handheld I'd say its pretty good. They're clearly not the "definitive" experience but they're still fun games and hopefully the performance niggles will get fixed

I've been playing Vice City for an hour or so and yeah the resolution is rather low and framerate isn't brilliant but you know what? It plays better than the PS2 original and at times actually looks rather nice. Handheld certainly masks some of the issues and it looks rather good that way.

The remaster could and should have been better everywhere but it's still a very fun game that is very playable

Joking aside, for content creators we don't need such negativity out there and much of it is unwarranted

I don't see them moving away from this formula now. I wouldn't mid seeing them brining it closer to Wii U in that a dock could do more than just be a plastic holder, whether it be extra storage or even a more powerful standalone console that can work with the handheld

A bit weird not to include any Sega games especially as they dominated the arcade scene for quite some time but we have Pokemon Go?

I can see the arguments for many games on that list, especially when their influence is taken into account which also suggests Ocarina should have been here.

Out of those I'd probably go with Mario 64 as it was such a huge leap into 3D and controlling a character in that space that no game at the time got anywhere close to but also the likes of Street Fighter 2, Doom and Half Life 2 are true greats as well

The Switch is certainly my favourite of any of the current consoles on the market, I just have more fun with it and whilst I don't see use it's handheld mode too often I'm happy the option is there. I don't need 4K and mediocre RT to have fun with a game but with any successor Nintendo have to make it fully backwards compatible with the Switch

@dewokkel yeah they're certainly better then the disappointing boards on the other game, I've just got Warioware but will be looking to get this soon

I might have to check Mario Party out, the previous Switch game was pretty poor but this looks much better despite the lack of boards

Trade the item after the game has been turned off and do exactly what with it? These NFT's are literally useless and worthless and you'd have to be a fool to buy one. It'd be like buying one tomato and having a little certificate to say you own the tomato but everyone else in the world can still but tomatoes yet some moron will be willing to pay lots of money for yours

I've just picked up Mario Kart live circuit for my boy's upcoming birthday, I of course had to test it out and I'm.... I mean he's going to have a great time with it

Still easily the best special edition Switch, imagine on OLED version of it

I've jumped back in for the first time in a long time, I'm tempted to start a new island or I was until I saw how much was in the dlc. I've been really enjoying that with the Switch online expansion pass. Overall I think its great

Back on the Switch for the first time in months and on Animal Crossing with the boy. Just picked up Warioware which is a lot of fun and have Super Monkey Ball arriving later today

No surprises there and frankly unacceptable when you consider how much Rockstar are charging for these

I never enjoyed playing this on Wii with that vontrol scheme, with good controls I suspect there is a very good game underneath but I'm concerned I won't enjoy the new controls much more

In the sense that you could just buy it instead? With Switch online you'll have to pay again next year and the one after and again. Yeah sure in one specific scenario you can make it arguably worthwhile, I'm not sure how many others could
