Re: Review: Gunbrick: Reloaded - A Painfully Tedious Puzzler Which Isn't Worth The Effort

I rarely disagree with reviews but I wholeheartedly disagree with this one. I don't find traversal to be finicky, since, in my opinion, its' not hard to figure out how to force the Gunbrick to face a certain way.

For instance, if you need to be facing downwards, yet you're facing to the right, he needs to do an extra rotation, hence you push him left once using the recoil of the gun. But, each to their own, I guess.

Re: Detective Pikachu Is Off The Case As It Debuts At Number 23 In The UK Charts

Kirby is still doing much better than prior entries. Most entries debuted much lower than it did and dropped much lower in later weeks, so all in all, I'd say the game is doing well. For instance, Kirby: Planet Robobot started at #15 in it's first week, and then dropped to #36 in it's second week. Star Allies is faring much better, although it'll drop down pretty soon.

Shame about Detective Pikachu but a lack of proper marketing, childish gameplay and 3DS release doomed it from the start. Sea of Thieves being at #1 doesn't surprise me. Although, I wonder what people think about it - I hear it isn't too good.

Re: Dragon Quest XI and Nintendo Switch Lead the Way in Japanese Charts

Nice hold for Dragon Quest, Splatoon and the Switch (60k is much higher than the average 25k it was selling in April-June).

Shame that Dai Gyakuten Saiban 2 didn't do as well as the original, but given that it launched at a bad time (with the Dragon Quest hype), I can see why. I hope it picks up some steam too, because, the worse it sells in Japan, the lower the chances are that it'll be localised.

@Captain_Gonru I don't think Square Enix will mess the game up. I'd be a little annoyed if it didn't have multiplayer, but, asides from that, as long as the game looks, sounds and plays well, I'll be happy.

Oh, and assuming it stays an exclusive. Switch needs more big third-party exclusives. If Square Enix jump ship then I'll get mad. Assuming the game launches next year, Project Octopath Traveller will be one of the major third-party releases in 2018 for the Switch.

Re: The Nintendo World Championships 2017 Have Been Announced

@MetaRyan Ha! How unfortunate.

I don't see why people are complaining about the choice of game being Mario Kart 7. The 2015 Nintendo World Championships had you qualify in just one game too - NES Remix (though, I can't remember which entry). Mario Kart 7 remains one of the best 3DS titles and given how easy it is to get a 3DS and the game, it means the Championships will remain accessible to all without requiring a Switch.

I'm just intrigued about what games will actually feature in the finals. Perhaps a new game, or some third-party ones? Time will tell, I suppose.

@Captain_Gonru I think it'll be a while until we see that game properly, since it's clear that Square Enix announced that game too early without enough progress to allow for regular updates - and this isn't the first time they've done it either. It looked unfinished and doesn't even have a proper name. All we know is that it'll have 8 distinct paths (thus the name "Octopath Traveller").

Which sucks, because that game had a really neat art-style, with the whole "3D 32-bit" look; given that it was an RPG too, a genre Square Enix rarely ever mess up, I had high hopes. I am still intrigued by the game but the hype is gone, for the time being.
