Re: Bethesda: The Time For Convincing Publishers And Developers To Support Wii U Is "Long Past"

bahooney

It takes a lot for me to like a third-party franchise. The reason I like Nintendo is because they don't go for realism in any way. There's no grit. It's all fantasy, and I love it. I've played all the way through to the end of Fallout 3, and it gave me some great memories, but at the end of the day, nothing a third-party franchise has given me has ever come close to the joy and pure wonder that any Nintendo franchise has.

I look at my top list of games, and they're all first-party Nintendo titles or second-party titles (a la Banjo-Kazooie, other Rareware games). I couldn't care less if another shooting game falls into my gaming collection, because I know I'll only play through it once and I'll either resell it or never come back to it again. What's the point?

I've been ogling these bad boys for some three years now. For the price, there will always be something I'll want instead... I really hope that I'll receive one as a gift, I love the design.

Re: More Evidence Emerges of a Wind Waker HD Wii U Bundle

@PokeTune Getting really tired of all these gamers insisting Nintendo should drop the Wii U's price. 350 with two included games is more than enough value. Heck, even with one included game. You shouldn't underestimate or de-value the longevity and fun of the Wii U, it rules. It's already the lowest price of the three consoles.

Re: Super Mario RPG Command System Inspired by a Laptop-Style "Children's Toy"

bahooney

I'm really not a huge RPG fan; I love EarthBound, and that's it really. I just don't like how auto-pilot MOST turn-based battles seem to be.

Regardless... on a whim, I picked up Dream Team for my birthday on Sunday. I'm mesmerized. This is my first Mario + Luigi RPG... I can't believe how good it is. And the battle system is exactly why. I love rhythm games, and the battles for this actually keep me conscious, they feel interactive. I love it! Once I beat this guy, I'll definitely have to pick up the others in the series.

Re: Talking Point: The "Indie Spotlight" Was A Bright Point of Nintendo Direct, But More is Needed

bahooney

I'm really sick of NOA. It sucks that I'm stuck with them for the time being. I don't even want to deal with how badly things are always run here. "Oh, hey, let's release those Streetpass Plaza DLC games a couple of weeks after the rest of the world gets it." "Tomodachi Collection? Sure, it's lighting the charts on fire in Japan, but ehhhh... let's not release it here." "Indie games? What're those?"

Re: Luigi Confirmed As Part Of The Smash Bros. Roster On 3DS And Wii U

bahooney

I love how when we were kids, we would just eat everything that Nintendo (or whoever) released and loved every second of it. Now? We're a bunch of insatiable, cynical jerks who bemoan every minor thing.

Guys, it's Smash Bros. Luigi had the exact same moves from 64 in Melee. You didn't complain then. You didn't complain for Brawl "copying" melee (unless you're one of those "Wavedashing: my anti-Brawl" enthusiasts). Just stop. You know it's going to be good. Stop.

Re: Nintendo Download: 8th August (Europe)

bahooney

@ScorpionMG Actually, it is that simple. I've watched some tutorial vids on youtube about homebrew Wii emulators, and it's basically a process like:

See ROM.
Download ROM
Play ROM

Not in any way advocating this, but Nintendo seriously has no excuses, especially when Japan's VC is light years ahead.

Re: Review: Turok: Dinosaur Hunter (Nintendo 64)

So stoked to own this in the box. Loved it as a kid. If I glue my nostalgia goggles on tightly, I can totally enjoy it and transport myself back to eight years old. But it's sooooo hard to play. The respawn rate is absurd.

Re: Petition Started To Make Reggie A Playable Character In Upcoming Smash Bros. Title

bahooney

@Tsuchinoko ROB isn't necessarily a video game character. He was a peripheral for the Famicom/NES. Plus, your argument is that it wouldn't be anything more than a joke. Do you really think that the Wii Fit Trainer is meant to be a serious addition to the roster? And I think many people /would/ get the joke. We live in an age where if one wants to know about something, they have unlimited resources to delve deeper. Pretty much everyone has the internet, and searching has been made easier than ever with the advent of wi-fi and smart phones. I'm sure that's how most people discovered more about Lucas and Marth/Roy.

At the end of the day, it's just a video game. Sakurai seems to want to shake up the formula by adding Wii Fit Trainer, I don't think adding Reggie should displease anyone.

Re: Nintendo Comments On EarthBound's Inflated Pricing

bahooney

Honestly, it's a two dollar difference... for a SNES golden-era RPG. There's tens of hours to be had here, maybe hundreds if you want to get the most out of it. I will never understand the mindset of the iOS Angry Birds generation of gamers, complaining about paying $8 for Super Mario World.

Re: Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros. Retains Third Spot in UK Charts

bahooney

@Prof_Elvin_Gadd @Peek-a-boo Yes, the story was fantastic, the acting was top-notch. That's why I really wish they made a life-sim or summat! But echoing what Gadd said, ABSOLUTELY. I love Nintendo because their gameplay is always guaranteed to be superb! The gameplay was what I was talking about when I was expressing my "been here, done this" mentality while playing.

Re: Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros. Retains Third Spot in UK Charts

bahooney

@Peek-a-boo I played it for five hours or so, and really? Totally bored to tears. It didn't offer anything that I couldn't get from Dead Space, RE5, or Uncharted. Heck, even Enslaved. It's just all stuff that I've seen before. Zombie-ish enemies? Shooter-ish gameplay? Modern day apocalyptic setting? Snore.

At least the graphics were absolutely gorgeous. Based on the opening scene, I thought it would've been rad if they just took that engine and made a life-sim out of it.
