It's that time again, North America, as more downloadable goodies arrive on the Wii U and 3DS eShop platforms. There's a new Nintendo-published Wii U eShop title, a return to legendary beginnings and an all new legend with Rayman, while Wario and a discount grace the 3DS. Check out the details below.
Wii U eShop
Pokémon Rumble U (Nintendo, $17.99) — The third entry in this brawling spin-off, this features plenty of mini toy 'mon on screen at once, taking on various monsters in their quest to return to the toy store. This has been released with a range of NFC (near field communication) toys in GameStop stores, though they're optional and not required for the game. We think a short length and excessive button-mashing chaos undermine this a little, but gave it a modest recommendation in our Pokémon Rumble U review.
Wii U Virtual Console
The Legend of Zelda (Nintendo, $4.99) — Another classic title arrives on the Wii U Virtual Console, though admittedly yet another that's already been enjoyed on the Wii and 3DS equivalents. Regardless of that, this is where the iconic franchise began, with many hidden solutions and quirks so beloved of the NES era, and undoubtedly a classic. You can see what we thought of its most recent release in our 3DS Virtual Console The Legend of Zelda Review.
Wii U Retail Downloads
Rayman Legends (Ubisoft, $TBC) — It's been a rather long wait for this platformer, but it finally arrives to make its impact on the Wii U software lineup. At one time arguably the most anticipated Wii U game during the launch window, it arrives with some additional content and the same gorgeous gameplay that hyped so many gamers in the first place. We described it as "close to perfection" in our Rayman Legends review, so check that out if you want to know more. Available from 3rd September.
3DS Virtual Console
Wario Land 3 (Nintendo, $4.99) — This title unsurprisingly prompted some pleased reactions when confirmed in a recent Nintendo Direct, as the portable Wario Land titles have a well-earned reputation as fun, imaginative experiences. This is no different, in some ways being more of a puzzle game than platformer, and we recommended it to all in our Wario Land 3 review.
3DS eShop Discount
BIT.TRIP SAGA (Aksys Games, $4.99 from 1st - 15th September, normally $14.99)

It's about time we got Wario Land 3!
PRU is $17.99. It said so yesterday in the eShop when you clicked on the info title.
You can get a "free" Kyurem toy ($3.99 retail) w/ DL code purchase at GS (the evil vile company selling XC for $79.99 used. Nothing 2 years old is "vintage").
Just Bit Trip for me.
Well if Rayman Legends is $50 on the eShop I'll buy it, but $60 is a bit pricey right now for me... so I'll go with LOZ I loved the NES Zelda games soooooooooo much. I beat them when I was a kid back in the 80's.
I think I'll spring for the BIT.TRIP Saga sale. Wario Land 3 isn't out of the question either.
@rjejr Awesome, thanks for that
You guys should use checkboxes and not radio buttons for these polls
It'll be BIT.TRIP for me. I want to get Wario Lands 1 and 2 before 3.
@ThomasBW84 - You're most welcome, whatever I can do to help. Need to go buy it now at GS to justify my Wii U purchase 3 weeks ago. (I don't care too much about WW HD, the $50, or the awesomely decorated Gamepad in the bundle, but when you add all 3 together, yeah it stings. Well worse than that but I'll give TBD a break.)
Can't wait to get a digital version of Bit.Trip LAG
Nothing for me
I expected to see Zelda with the highest percentage, what a pleasant surprise it wasnt
Good to see Bit Trip. getting some love in the voting. You can't go wrong for $4.99
Yeah, Wario Land 3! I'll download it when I get back from college today.
I'll get Rayman Legends at some point as well. Boxed, not digital.
@element187 We'll keep an eye out for the Rayman Legends eShop price. I would be tempted to guess based on retail, but after Ubisoft's eShop shenanigans with Blacklist in Europe I'm afraid to! It was £54.99 in the UK, which is INSANE.
Pokemon Rumble U is on my list today. Going to gamestop so I can get the Kyurem figurine. Hopefully they let people buy the other one so I can have both black and white.
Also going to get Bit Trip Saga just out of impulse.
Whew! You're safe this week Mr Wallet.
Pokemon and Rayman through GameStop, and DL Wario Land 3 for me this week. Got paid today and worked 17.5 hours OT last week at $21.00 dollar. Grin
Oooh! Lookitdat Wario game! Nice to see some GBC support finally!
that's it? I think I'll pass.
I will eventually get Zelda, but for regular price when I have so many games I'm playing right now, I'll pass for now.
I'd imagine that a lot of people will be upgrading their Wii VC version of Zelda this week
Nothing for me this week. The best looking thing for me out of that bunch was Warioland 3 but since I didnt like the first one I will probably just skip that as well.
@bezerker99 with the 3D turned off ( :__ ) is almost non existent, only in Runner but I've never died because of it.
@DarkCoolEdge Hey DCE! Yeah, I 100%'d Bit.Trip Runner on SAGA (I have the cart). I had to play with the 3D off......and even with that, there's still some noticeable lag in the World 3 levels.
I'm such a fan of Runner that I'm willing to look past the lag. I already have the games on WiiWare, Complete, and SAGA.....I figured for $5 might as well have it permanently attached to my 3DS. Cheers~
Aww nuts... still no Recca. Oh well, it's Bit.Trip SAGA for me then!
Or one of those Atlus games at $10 off that have been awfully tempting...
Pokémon Rumble U! YES! been waiting for this since it was announced for Japan!
also, "excessive button-mashing chaos undermine this a little" undermine? that's one of the reasons I'm getting it! I love button mashing hack and slash beat-em-ups, and a real-time Pokemon battling game is always a must have
@bezerker99 true. In world 3 gets pretty annoying but not game breaking (Hi!)
@Marioman64 I enjoyed Rumble on WiiWare quite a bit but what I've heard about this one is not something to ignore. How can it be more simple than the previous outings of the series?
@Luigifan141: You said it! There's no excuse as to why it took them a year or so to bring it to the US!
@UnseatingKDawg Be positive, now you have it
Legend of Zelda is a classic must buy that I will pick up once I start clearing some of my backlog of games alright in the queue: Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3, Mario Galaxy and Earthbound.
Does anyone know about what time Central time the WiiU E-Shop updates? Pokemon Rumble U is still a future title for me and I can't purchase.
Spending $1 to get Zelda again. It's just a great game to go back and replay sometimes and I like it to be quick and easy access for when I feel like it. I love trying different orders of getting stuff and sort of running around collecting stuff that takes so long to discover the first time (which was decades ago for me!).
Rayman I will also buy but at retail. And if that Pokemon Rumble deal is correct at GameStop we'll probably do the retail card for that to get the free figurine.(My kids played the Rumble Wii demo dozens of times). I'm also trying to decide when to spring this stuff on my kids because I also have Disney Infinity stuff tucked away as I got a good series of deals on that and it is turning out to be pretty great as well.
All in all we honestly have TOO many games on the Wii U for this family. We just finished Pikmin 3. Nintendo please SLOW DOWN. Of course, I'm kidding, but my kids will love Sonic, too and Wind Waker... and multiplayer Mario games... I'd personally like Wonderful 101 as well but the teen rating is a problem for now.
No Wii U sales = nothing for me this week.
So happy about Wario Land 3. One of my favorite GBC games, I'd love to beat it again.
Wow busy week for me. I was already planning on downloading Pokémon Rumble U, but looks like I'll also be grabbing Bit.Trip Saga and The Legend of Zelda. I will be picking up a physical copy of Rayman Legends however.
I'm buying Bit.Trip Saga.
looks like the 3ds is the Nintendo system to own, cause waiting on the wii u to pick up steam is proving to be a bore. I have noticed lately how much love the 3ds gets, why cant the wii u get the same treatment ??(well handhelds are the big Ns bread and butter perhaps)
LOZ for sure and PRU for my boys
Bit.Trip for me.
I'm most excited for Rayman, but getting it at retail, so I vote Legend of Zelda. How is it that I've never played a Legend of Zelda game front to back!? Time to start here and maybe spring for WWHD (or just hope I get it for Christmas)!
Wow ! Absolutely nothing on eShop
I'm not seeing a discount for Legend of Zelda on my Wii U! Anybody getting a discount?
Ok, since I still have 25 bucks from my last trip to Arizona that will be Wario 3 and Bit Trip for me!
I just hope Petit Computer 3DS will be 12 dollars or less!
Got excited that maybe A Link to the Past was being released. I love the original, just not sure I want to drop yet another $5 on a game I have owned a million times over. I may still get it in the future, but not this week. Want to pick up WarioLand 3. I remember being in a bowling league as a kid where we got 3 Game Boy games after you complete your final week, and WarioLand 3 was one I got, so it'd be purely a nostalgic purchase.
I CANNOT understand why on earth if you buy a virtual console game for the 3DS, why I would have to RE-BUY the game for my WiiU? When you buy something like a song from Apple for example, you can have it on all your devices. Makes sense no? I would happily pay the $1 for the upgrades, but full price is crazy!
Pokemon Rumble U of course.. it's tail whippin' time..
Wario land 3!
Rayman
@Tasuki You should give it a try, I didn't like the first one too but the second one was very different and a lot better. I'm guessing this one is also as good as WL2.
I can't wait for Rayman... looks to be one of the best non-Nintendo platformers ever.
It's about time we get a Zelda title on the Wii U VC.
@tasuki: wario land 3 is a completely different beast from the first two. Much better imo.
It's like a metroid game with an overworld map.
If Pokemon Rumble U had ANYTHING for one player I would probably but it...but since it's multiplayer only, forget it. Definitely getting Bit. trip. Saga. for 3ds, though!
@TruthBeTold it's usually after 2pm CST. Occasionally you can search for something and it'll be there early.
Wow, another lousy week for the 3DS VC. I want the 4 NES games EU has gotten over the past month. This sucks.
@DarkCoolEdge: Sure do! I put off purchasing other games just to get this. Now I have all four (not counting Shake It/Shake Dimension) on one handheld.
The kids have been playing PRU for about an hour, White Kyurem is waaaay overpowered. Its only 565mb, which is really small (PS3 Puppeteer DEMO was 5.7GB last night) and took about 7 minutes to DL. No card at GS, just a receipt, for those looking. They have over 100 Pokemon so this might be a 5 or 6 hour affair. Only 1 auto-save, so I'm glad my kids each have their own NNI.
The tv picture/sound go out 2 seconds every couple of minutes. I tried a much better HDMI cable but still no go. The port seems too short, the cables wont sit flush, only go about 2/3 in. Anybody else deal w/ this issue?
Wario Land 3 and probably Rayman Legends.
I'm getting Bit.Trip Saga, defiantly. Later down the road, I'd get Wario Land 3, but I'd rather have the four previous titles before, and I already have too many games on my Wishlist that are on top of the Mario/Wario Land games.
I'm passing on WL3 only because I own a functional copy of it. Though maybe someday I'll get it to have a back up and it was always a fun one.
Bit Trip will finally enter my collection when that sale hits.
I'm still planing on passing those Atlus sales for now as well.
That BIT.TRIP SAGA discount might be too good to pass up.
why am i like the only one getting pokemon rumble!!!!
I love in the US and was wondering if any other North American customers did not get the discount on Zelda today. Previous VC titles that I'd purchased on my Wii's eShop have been showing up for $1 and $1.50 respectively but Zelda just said $4.99 for me. Weird.
Wario Land 3! Going to buy a new SD card in the weekend, and get more eShop money for Senran Kagura Burst, and a ton of other games.
@barbiegurl777: I disliked the second game, but Wario Land 3 has always been one of my favorite games of all times. Give it a try if you get the chance (not that you should buy it, but you may have the chance to play it some day I guess), you may like it.
BIT TRIP SAGA!
Wow, where's the poll love for Rumble?
I already got it.
@StraTTtheRipper "If Pokemon Rumble U had ANYTHING for one player". What do you mean...?
Nothing for me this week.
I'd be tempted to pick up Wario Land 3, but last winter before I got my 3DS I went on an online spending spree and picked up a bunch of old GB, GBC, and GBA games, all of the Wario Lands amongst them. (Well, I already had WL1, and unfortunately I didn't realize there were two versions of WL2 and I picked up the GBnotC version.)
Bit.Trip SAGA is pretty tempting, though. I've only got BEAT and RUNNER on my Wii.
@StraTTtheRipper .. It is one player.. you have three computer controlled allies.. but you get to choose your Pokemon.. and you can choose theirs.. or they will choose something close to the type you have.. LOL... I went in with a Golduck and the computer popped in with three Psyducks... it was like Misty's worst nightmare.. LOL
Bit Trip Saga? oh no, my wallet.
Weird, Bit Trip Saga is still showing as 14.99 for me. I wonder if my region settings are off.
This week's Nintendo Download is surprisingly good! I'll be getting a physical copy of Rayman Legends and downloading Zelda and possibly Rumble U.
@Interneto
I thought the game was multiplayer only.
@Relias
Nice! I'll have to pick this up sometime soon...Really enjoyed the Wiiware and 3DS games.
why wont Nintendo give us 3ds eshop original games? that's what I want.
that Bit Trip Saga deal is too good to pass up
@sleepinglion The sale doesn't start until September 1st, so we've gotta wait a couple days still lol.
I'll be getting Bit Trip Saga as well. I always wanted to play it, but since I was really only interested in Runner I couldn't justify the price.
@UnseatingKDawg If you have a Wii or a WiiU (or you plan to get one) you should get "Shake Dimesion"/"Shake it!" too. It is a very good game and VERY replayable.
@DarkCoolEdge: Actually, I've had a Wii since 2009, and I did get a Wii U this year. I just never picked it up. But by now I think it's $20, so I'll see if I can snag a copy somewhere. Thanks for the recommendation!
I like Wario World (Gamecube) and
The Shake Dimension. (Wii - the propeller Mario style motion thing is annoying as ever).
Only other one that I like the look of is the GBA one.
(And all the GBA Warioware's - I have the DS ones and the Gamecube version of mega microgames).
@Skeet102 Heh, It's already there. Just hit the search button on the 3ds eshop. Put in download only software. Publisher: Nintendo. and hit apply filters. Games like Harmo-knight, Kersploosh!, Pushmo and Crashmo and Sakura Samurai awaits.
Dang it. You HAD to price BTS at $5. Now I have to buy it.
@StraTTtheRipper It isn't... It's also single player.
Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3 Wario Land 3...
