Re: Nintendo Download: 26th April - Virtual Console (North America)

I love how everyone is freaking out about the prices of these games "8 BUX FOR A FREAKING SNES GAME!?!!1 IF DIS WAS FIVE BUX I WOULD GEDDIT BUT LIKE DAT PRICE DIFFERENCE OF THREE BUX REALLY FROSTS MY BOTTOM!! AROOOGUH!!" It is 8 dollars. Eight. Dollars. These are games we paid $60+ back in the early 90's, and you had no problem then! How many of you guys dropped $30 on the NES classics series for GBA? These games, specifically SMW, are ones we will most likely be coming back to YEARS from now. Would it be nice if they were cheaper? Of course. But these aren't iPhone games that you'll impulse buy and never remember playing a couple of years down the road. Nintendo is world-renown for their software quality, and these games have resonated with us in ways words can't formulate. Your desired price of $5 is a $3 difference, which is next to nothing.

tl;dr go home, whiners. you're drunk.

@C-Olimar A re-hash, huh? Yeah, it's pretty easy to assess the game from a trailer that lasts a minute, and when Nintendo's gone on record to say that all of the dungeons were new.

Man... come to think about... Majora's Mask was a rehash, too! I mean, what a lazy game! Most of the assets where straight from Ocarina. This makes it a bad game!! Can't believe I never thought of this.

Thanks for enlightening me, bro!

Re: Wii U Virtual Console Launch Lineup Is Revealed

bahooney

I wish EarthBound was getting released on launch day... now THAT would've been a real kicker to launch the service!

Anyway, bleh. Super Mario World with Game Pad support and Miiverse integration is a surefire purchase from me. As for the rest, these are games I wouldn't even bother pirating.

Re: EarthBound Delay May Not Have Been Caused By Music Licensing Issues After All

bahooney

@Deathgaze I don't know about you, but a lot of us fans of the game (especially younger fans) find it hard to purchase a SNES cart that costs upwards of $100. Nintendo has known about the passion for this game for a good while now, and it's easy to see how many people would buy the game upon it's VC release. Do they owe it to us? No. But literally everyone in the world knows that $100+ is, for many of us, a completely unjustifiable expense for a 20-year-old SNES cart.

If you guys had played the original, which I have, you would be more excited. Think Animal Crossing mixed with Tamogotchi; it's quite a beast to be at the reigns of. I think with the proper marketing, it could really take off here... at the very least, I just wish the 3DS wasn't region locked. Thinking of picking up the hardware bundle..

Re: Review: Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge (Game Boy Advance)

bahooney

I was expecting this to score a lot lower! When I was a kid, I would get new GBA games, and I was so bummed every time they were this isometric type of platformer. Bionicle, Spyro/Crash, Banjo-Kazooie... the list goes on. Not to mention Grant Kirkhoppe doesn't do the music for this entry. It's not a bad game, but I have no desire to pick up where I left off years ago.

Re: Hardware Classics: Sega Mega Drive

bahooney

I had a few friends who had the Genesis, and I own Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, so I'm well versed in the type of games featured on the Sega. I didn't own a SNES until I was 15, so the nostalgia-tinted goggles are non-existent when I say the SNES has captivated me in a way that the Genesis can never, and will never, be able to!

There's just that charm that Nintendo has that goes beyond words, sprinkled across all of their games.

@Residentsteven I'm 22, and I have a record player because it offers a much higher quality of sound. It's more organic, in a sense. OH GOD IT'S SO OOOOLD. Nope, record players are still manufactured.

Re: Iwata Implies That He Could Step Down Over Sluggish Sales Performance

bahooney

Definitely don't get where anyone sees that he's going to resign if Nintendo is met with losses again. The implication is non-existent.

That said, I feel it really is Nintendo's fault. Yes, the Wii U launch line up was the best in recent history, but /wherehavethegamesbeensincethen?!/ You need a steady stream of titles to keep customers engaged in your product. They said they learned this with the 3DS, but... I don't know. Pretty stagnant. Other than Nintendo Land, I'm feeling no urge to rush out and buy a Wii U, and even then, it's Nintendo Land.

Re: So, How Is The Wii U Doing In The UK?

bahooney

I don't understand why Nintendo pushes out products that simply aren't ready to be released. More games and /working/ VC functionality are kind of a given... have they not learned from the 3DS?

Re: Out Now: Animal Crossing: New Leaf Starts Life in Japan

I wish they had hired a huuuuge translation team to get this gem out in the wild sooner rather than next year, but it understandable why it's taking so long. I wouldn't want to even look at how massive the text files must be! I'll just have to play City Folk until it's release. :<

Re: Wii U Kiosks Will Allow Gamers To Try Before They Buy

bahooney

On Saturday, I was at the mall with my girlfriend and best friend. We were there for various reasons, and at the end of the trip was our visit to Best Buy. I wasn't expecting to see a Wii U demo kiosk, but there it was...

We clamored over the controller- "It's so comfortable!" "It feels so good!" we shouted to one another. We were like the Nintendo 64 kid at Christmas day. I felt a similar sensation to the first time I saw a Gamecube kiosk and played SSB Melee for the first time back in 2001.

Naturally, we hit the home button to check out Nintendoland, NSMBU, etc... but wait- there were only videos? OF EVERYTHING!? Oh, except Rayman. Cool. But not really.
