Wow I remember playing this as a curious young pre-teenager. I do believe I was mislead then and thought it was one of them sexy games that flood the eshop these days.
Or at least I was bad enough at it to never get to see any of the good stuff because the stubborn princess did horribly at anything I tried.
What a fever dream nostalgia trip this brought back though.
I don't get when games are about to go poof like this, why they don't try and actually sell them. Say a huge 80-90% off sale? You may get a handful of sales by the weirdos who feel the need to collect everything at full price, but you're going to get way more sales at a couple bucks to go alongside of the news articles than a full priced game before it's gone and you make....nothing?
@Bunkerneath LOL not true at all. It's just simply when a company no longer sells you the item, you no longer worry about the grey area acquiring something you can't buy. The files will always be available online by alternate methods.
It's so amusing because honestly, Nintendo doesn't have any worthwhile IP to steal. Bland boring characters from 30 years ago. They haven't even made a new IP character that stands out in....I don't know, have they ever since the original NES? I don't think so. (no, color swapping Princess isn't some amazing IP innovation, it's lazy and uninspired).
Refreshing to see a man not wanting to do cheap 'remaster' cash grabs. Really refreshing since that is basically all this industry is these days. Remake junk or sequel number 8. So boring.
Really wish others in the industry wanted to try that weird scary "new" thing that everyone else cowers from. But as long as the ants line up to toss more cash in a pile for a game they already own in its meant to be original classic form, it'll never stop until the industry collapses again (which seems to be happening in real time).
incredibly crazy to me the way these companies just literally burn money. A great example is a completely finished version of a live action/CGI Warner Bros movie involving Wily Coyote. It's finished. Done. Ready for theaters. But it will never see the light of day because the rich elites got their knickers twisted along the line and wouldn't get as much extra money as they thought for that 3rd vacation home, so they decided to just burn the time and money and never release it. Capitalism sure is a wild rabid beast that is eating itself to nothing these days.
Well yeah when companies favor illegal DEI hiring over meritocracy these days, you're bound to see the consequences.
it does seem odd though considering how fast AI has advanced, and yes, all companies are using it to one degree or another even if they don't slap notifications all over the boxes and social media.
I wish our own governments cared half as much about 'theft' (that's up in the air since it's a virtual copy of something and nobody loses anything as pirates wouldn't have bought the games anyway)as the billion dollar corporations do. Slaps on the wrist for mass REAL THEFT in the actual world where people DO lose the item stolen, but hey let's all ignore that because people are playing silly games for free.
We live in a society (but not for much longer at this rate).
Worst online service I have ever seen in my 30 years of video gaming. Truly a scam to make you pay for subpar online service, renting 25 year old games and pretending like offering a "free trial" for really old games that are on sale for $5 is some sort of equal to GanePass is just absurd. The Dreamcast had a better online setup.
The literally only good thing about NSO is that you don't need it to play f2p games online.
Or maybe this game will be really good and they can continue on as it's own thing where the Zelda games are actually about Zeldas journey.
In any case I'm glad they're trying. Far too many open world games and BoTW bored me so badly it has forever put a sour taste in my mouth for the franchise since they seem to be sticking to the wide open empty nothing-to-do-here except collect a bazillion seeds formula that lacks the life of the old games.
Ah so that's what the notification was for on my phone. Recently bought MC on there since it was $2,wont see that sort of sale with Switch tax and since it has more than the Switches measly 4gb of ram, I can set it to render more than 5 blocks in front of me lol.
If only Nintendo wasn't perpetually 10 years behind every other console and we actually had an achievement/trophy system... but hey, we get to pay to play online with no game pass or any sort of current gen subscription service at least! Haha.
In any case I've tried to get into this game like 10 times since it's release and every time I get around the same area and get bored with the driving around. Just not for me.
@WiiWareWave Yeah the comments here are always wild to me. People saying hundreds for plastic statues is a great deal or buying the same game for the 4th time because it's on another system now. I don't imagine that being the case a year from now as things continue to get worse for 99% of us.
How is a "decent rpg" an 8? Maybe my internal scoring is weird but 8 out of 10 isn't a score for a game I'd call decent, more like really good or great.
I miss when devs took into account smaller file sizes and optimizations for graphics. Now they just figure "our consumer cattle can go buy a new hard drive or graphics card if they want to play".
Cool cool. Hope it comes to mobile as well as I got Dead Cells on there and it's great. Plus I got the game and all the old DLC for half of what the base game costs on its best sale on switch has ever been (screw your switch tax, N).
Kind of sounds like you should just wait 3 years on their big games then and just get the "better" version. Weird way to run a company but then again there are lots of frivolous people out there I suppose.
As someone who's spent 1000s of hours across Switches f2p offerings, mostly Overwatch, Fortnite and Apex...this game...isnt that bad.
Its very bare bones, which can be a nice change from needing to understand how each hero synergies with the other one if you want to do good in Overwatch and have headphones on so can hear that Reaper on your butt, for example.
The gyro aiming is done well enough that it doesn't just feel like a ported mobile title although the graphics are pretty bad as are some of the animations and movements.
The progression system is probably the worst part though as after you unlock the initial handful of people, it really takes some time to get the back half of the roster if you aren't going to spend.
The cosmetics are all really really bad (no clue why anyone would pay for these skins) but I've never cared about needing to look special to strangers, so moot point.
I don't even like Star Wars since the woke mouse house made it unbearable, but I'll probably keep playing this since it doesn't require 110% focus to be able to do well if your aim is there.
Cool. Not a fan of Star Bores but I'll give it a shot. Hero based shooters like Overwatch are great, been a fan since Team Fortress Classic.
Can't beat the price of free either.
@BTB20 Hey, leave them alone. Some people are only comfortable having opinions if they're the exact same opinions they're told they should have as everyone else around them (mostly because the jannies ban any differing views there). Reddit great for digging yourself into an echo chamber of false narrative and never leave!
Apex and Fortnite since SP games bore me too much anymore. Why am I trying to best a bunch of lines of code again? There's no test of skill in that.
It's lovely seeing the sweaty Fortnite kids seethe because of this seasons car meta though. I think it's just pure fun chaos. Sadly the whiney "influencers" have already had Epic start nerfing the fun.
After trying again and spending close to half an hour adjusting settings, Apex gyro controls aren't THAT bad but they still feel weird to me. I think it only uses the Switches center readings on the gyro so you have to hold it in a certain position or it gets drifty feeling trying to correct itself. Definitely not as buttery smooth and perfect as Overwatch's gyro but I'm still squad wiping on my dinky Lite at 30fps.
It's also getting a mobile release soon. Hopefully its up to snuff since I wouldn't mind trying it and the free Google play credit stacks up with nothing to ever use it on.
Pokemon (pocket monster) type games are perfect for phones that fit in your pocket.
I have fever dream like memories of this game and I'm not sure why. I think maybe it was on a demo disk and I ended up replaying it a bunch so I only remember jumping on trees and pigs..
