For the price point, it should've had: a proper glass screen and not this wafer-thin glass with a scratch-prone plastic layer; handheld ergonomics at least a quarter as good as the Steam Deck's; games that aren't as egregiously expensive as they are.
I don't regret the purchase, but I still wish Nintendo was a third party dev, so I could've enjoyed games like Bananza and Metroid Prime 4 on my PC.
AI is "theft" the same way any inspiration, brainstorming, and iteration is "theft." As in, it ain't theft.
AI is not the problem; the problem is the inherent contradiction of capitalism (socialized labor, privatized profits, workers unable to buy back their own labor).
In a world that's moved past class society, with a centrally planned economy by/for the people where profit isn't king, automation (AI included) would be embraced. We only fear automation because the world isn't there yet.
As for the NPCs, as long as they, and Samus herself, aren't as insufferable as they were in the wretched abomination that was Metroid: Other M, they're fine.
A lot of people here are acting like the open world segments being a bad idea is a foregone conclusion based on subjective reviews, without having played the game themselves.
Yes, I too think a shoehorned-in open world is bad. See PSO2: New Genesis for THAT lesson. But get your hands on Prime 4 before dismissing its implementation of it.
@Pat_trick "Metroid is about isolation. Except for Fusion, Prime 3, Other M, and parts of Dread, all of which ruin any weight my silly retort could've had."
Maybe don't flaunt having all this Metroid knowledge if you, like, don't.
@B3RTAY Look, I get that Other M left a bad taste in the mouth of anyone with a soul, but just having background NPCs is not some indictment on Samus' ability to handle problems on her own. Relax.
@Aki77 Good for you. I also like Super Mario World. It's fun... in small doses. It's also filled with a lot of same-y, dull levels (once you've seen one cave level/fortress/whatever, you've seen them all). Yoshi's Island is a far more interesting evolution of the Mario formula, and the DKC games are far more exciting with more varied locales. The latter also applies to Kirby Super Star, which also gives us something 2D Mario games wouldn't have for a very long time: simultaneous co-op.
Super Mario World is a blast, and a small miracle given its rushed development cycle... but it is the most overrated Mario game in existence. Yoshi's Island is better, DKC2 is WAY better, most of the SNES library's hits are better. We really don't need to keep glazing SMW.
People saying Western bias but I'm curious what they felt SHOULD'VE been there.
I definitely think Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, Sonic Racing Crossworlds, and Ninja Gaiden 4 probably deserved some accolades, but what else? EDIT - Whoops, I guess the last two DID get noms, my bad.
lol @ people saying Mario Kart World deserved a soundtrack nom. Come now.
He has a point. Look, I want my Mega Man 12 and my Final Fantasy VI-2 as much as the next guy but iterating on past ideas with fresh new worlds and mechanics is also necessary.
"Why do only big corporations like Square Enix, Bandai Namco, Studio Ghibli, etc. get to use AI? I thought they were fighting against it!" Potential future quote from everyone cheering this on.
@UpsideDownRowlet Plagiarism is pretend, and if those designs are "plagiarism" then 2D platformers are also "plagiarizing" Mario. It's just more nonsense in defense of IP law.
If it's found out that there's original Nintendo code in Palworld, then there's an argument to make. And even then, it isn't as if Nintendo hasn't done that themselves.
@TanukiSan7x In order: no they don't, no they don't, and... are you seriously arguing that poor people are "spoiled" because they should be buying fewer games?
Exclusives are antiquated, especially in a 2025 where everyone except the ultra-rich has less than ever. Being able to enjoy titles with the hardware you have isn't an unreasonable ask. Anyone defending exclusives are out of touch with reality.
I wish Retro had won at least one of those debates; the one that would've seen Prime have a control scheme mirroring Halo on release, instead of only getting that FINALLY in Remastered.

4/10.

Re: The Game Awards 2025: Time, Date & How To Watch
@Zaruboggan I think it should get those too personally, but all good.
Re: The Game Awards 2025: Time, Date & How To Watch
@Zaruboggan Same, though unlike the year where LoU2 swept every category, the game this year that will likely do that (E33) actually deserves it.

@Quarbit 100% agreed.
Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Difficulty Settings Revealed By Nintendo
I always hate when hard modes are locked behind beating Normal. Let me pick it from the start.
Re: PSA: NES Classics Have Had A CRT Filter Overhaul In Latest Switch Online Update
Good for those who want it. I'll continue to remain happy that I left behind CRTs in my youth.

Lara Croft for Smash Bros. Ultimate 2: Wrath of Satsui no Hadou Master Chief
Re: ICYMI: More Pokémon Legends: Z-A DLC News Is Coming Our Way Tomorrow
I picked a girl character but I wanted the girl rival and it sucks that you're stuck with the lame boy rival.

Re: Square Enix Aims To Automate 70% Of QA With Generative AI By 2027
I don't care for AI fearmongering and I've no issue with it automating processes provided there are humans to error check after the fact.
The layoffs, especially right after SE announces a return to profitability, are my concern.

Re: Nintendo's Pokémon Catching-Related Patent Has Been Rejected In Japan
@breach187 nothing to do with anything but if there are Switch versions of Pro Bass Fishing you should be able to catch Magikarp.
Re: Nintendo's Pokémon Catching-Related Patent Has Been Rejected In Japan
Good. May every last bit of Nintendo's malicious litigiousness backfire hard.
