I don't regret the purchase because I know it will see play. But the console is overpriced considering what Nintendo cheaped out on.
No excuse for the soft plastic screen film atop a super thin glass screen that is prone to firing out glass shards when cracked. Gorilla Glass is the minimum standard here.
I initially gave a pass to the no hall effect sticks on the joy-cons because I thought the system magnets would interfere, but since hall-effect mods are already being made, it's clear Nintendo could've figured something out here.
The dock feels super flimsy despite being a more powerful and more important component.
And Mario Kart World is filled with half-baked new ideas. That it commands such a high price on its own is a joke.
But what can you do? Nintendo knows they can get away with sub-par quality for premium pricing.

Nintendo need not be worried. That said, I'm actually eyeing the Xbox Ally. I love my Steam Deck but I also like the grips, d-pad, specs, and store-switching capabilities of the Xbox Ally; I might just get one to replace my Deck.
I really really really want this game to be good. Mainline Pokemon games have sucked since Red/Blue, and Legends Arceus was rad but flawed. PLEASE be good Z-A...

@pikachupikachup Cool that you like their stuff. None of that changes that the "outrage" over stick drift (among other unsavory things they're a part of) didn't affect anything. They're doing just fine.
There's a lot of interest in taking this tool that gives a lot of power to the masses and making it the exclusive domain of the rich, all under the guise of "protecting creativity" or whatever.
@Purgatorium Yup, and that sums up the anti-AI arguments in general. There's a lot of interest in taking this tool that gives a lot of power to the masses and making it the exclusive domain of the rich, all under the guise of "protecting creativity" or whatever.
@ButterySmooth30FPS Don't know about that as I generally like the JRPG genre and Clair Obscur feels like a love letter. (With way better dialogue and characters who talk and act like adults.)
The game is worth the hype IMO. But all fanbases are bad and some are worse, and E33's is definitely... slightly unhinged.

Re: Xbox Officially Enters The Handheld Space, But Nintendo Won't Be Worried
@Ramouz Yup. I wish Nintendo was not in the hardware business so I could play Mario Kart World on superior hardware with superior controllers.
Re: Xbox Officially Enters The Handheld Space, But Nintendo Won't Be Worried
@sixrings You may be onto something.
Re: Game Freak's Upcoming Action RPG Looks Awesome, But Don't Expect It On Switch 2 Yet
I want to tame Freakachu.

Re: Joe & Mac Retro Collection Kickstarter Reviving Three Prehistoric SNES Games
Congo's Caper is on SNES online, and is IMO the best of these games, but all are fun. I'll see what the Kickstarter tiers are on Tuesday.
Re: Review: Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller - A New Benchmark In Comfort And Design
@Briarback I hate analog triggers and am glad at least one company has held out against them personally.
Re: Review: Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller - A New Benchmark In Comfort And Design
@Uncle_Franklin It isn't.
Re: Review: Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller - A New Benchmark In Comfort And Design
A run through Tetris 99 did NOT net me any accidental hard drops, so I'm cautiously optimistic the d-pad is way better.
Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour Trailer Highlights New Minigames & Tech Demos
Put that $10 in an old cookie tin and save it for something that's actually worth it.
Re: Video: Do You Even Need A Pro Controller For The Switch 2?
I have one as part of my pre-order. I hope it has a better d-pad than its predecessor, though other than that d-pad I like the first one.
Re: Shinobi: Art Of Vengeance Gets New Trailer Detailing Its Fast-Paced Combat
I need this game in my mouth right now.

@Simu001 Test failed.
Re: 'The Best Competitive Multiplayer Games' Book Is Chock-Full Of Nintendo Titles
@romanista If it doesn't, it should.
Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour Trailer Highlights New Minigames & Tech Demos
Paying for this is a litmus test for if you should be entrusted with money.
Re: Feature: "You've Gotta Make It More Sexy" - Final Fantasy & Persona Voice Actors Have Made A Dating Sim For Everyone
AI fearmongering so bad we now mention it in things that have nothing to do with AI lol

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Listed As A Summer Game Fest 2025 Partner
I think a Direct is very likely, possibly even something in "partnership" with Summer Game Fest (so you'll see it on the official SGF calendar lol).
Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Listed As A Summer Game Fest 2025 Partner
@Zeebor15 Me neither but I'm just here for some hype announcements.
Re: Nintendo Shares Video Detailing New N64 Features For Switch Online
@dabaumer It's definitely shortsighted and/or scummy.
Re: Nintendo Updates Switch 2 Backwards Compatibility List
So far it seems like the vast majority of titles are compatible. A good thing for sure.
Re: Nintendo Shares Video Detailing New N64 Features For Switch Online
Nintendo catching up on controller remapping features much of the industry has been on-board with for several decades.
Re: Nintendo Today! Update Prevents Users From Recording Promotional Videos
@LoroTalby You can't be serious.
Re: Nintendo Today! Update Prevents Users From Recording Promotional Videos
Nintendo being stupid per usual.
Re: PowerA Reveals Its New Switch 2 Pro Controller Featuring Hall Effect Sticks
@Debo626 It is a safe assumption.

Re: PowerA Reveals Its New Switch 2 Pro Controller Featuring Hall Effect Sticks
@pikachupikachup They don't care about the hit to their reputation when the "outrage" didn't impact their bottom line.
Re: Random: Miyamoto Can't Talk About Switch 2, Talks About Switch 2 Anyway
As long as you don't let this man anywhere near the controls of a 3D Metroid game again, we're good.
Re: Talking Point: The Switch 2 Pre-Order Situation Sucks, But Can Nintendo Do Anything About It?
Secured a pre-order in Canada for both the MK bundle and a Pro Controller 2 with no issue, but I know others here who are still looking.

@Dr_Fresh Nor did what I responded to.

Publicity stunt. SAG-AFTRA is garbage, as is AI fearmongering.
Re: Square Enix Details Plan To 'Reboot And Awaken' Its Business

Freaking clowns.
Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Final Tech Specs Have Been Confirmed
@skycargav2000 It's powerful enough to play modern games smoothly.
Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Final Tech Specs Have Been Confirmed
In terms of power and performance I'm sure it'll be fine. Good games are good games regardless of tech specs.
Nvidia DLSS can work miracles too, as can the AMD equivalent (FSR, which you should turn on if playing games on your Steam Deck).
I still wish Nintendo was a software dev for PC though.
Re: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Developer Seems Open To A Switch 2 Port
@ButterySmooth30FPS I think you'll like Expedition 33.
Re: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Developer Seems Open To A Switch 2 Port

Its fanbase is just a little TOO into it... but it really is just an incredible game. I hope more people get to enjoy it.
