He has a point. Look, I want my Mega Man 12 and my Final Fantasy VI-2 as much as the next guy but iterating on past ideas with fresh new worlds and mechanics is also necessary.
"Why do only big corporations like Square Enix, Bandai Namco, Studio Ghibli, etc. get to use AI? I thought they were fighting against it!" Potential future quote from everyone cheering this on.
@UpsideDownRowlet Plagiarism is pretend, and if those designs are "plagiarism" then 2D platformers are also "plagiarizing" Mario. It's just more nonsense in defense of IP law.
If it's found out that there's original Nintendo code in Palworld, then there's an argument to make. And even then, it isn't as if Nintendo hasn't done that themselves.
@TanukiSan7x In order: no they don't, no they don't, and... are you seriously arguing that poor people are "spoiled" because they should be buying fewer games?
Exclusives are antiquated, especially in a 2025 where everyone except the ultra-rich has less than ever. Being able to enjoy titles with the hardware you have isn't an unreasonable ask. Anyone defending exclusives are out of touch with reality.
I wish Retro had won at least one of those debates; the one that would've seen Prime have a control scheme mirroring Halo on release, instead of only getting that FINALLY in Remastered.
It's fun, but cheaply made, and there's simply no excuse for the price. I bought it knowing my copy would be played by me and multiple others in my household; if it was just for me, I would've never.
Maybe if it a) didn't have PS2-looking textures, 2) had voice acting, and D) didn't cost like 3 Expedition 33s (an RPG that looks better, sounds better, plays better, and has voice acting), I'd rate it higher.
I was eyeing one to replace my Steam Deck, but between the price, the recent MS nonsense, and my Deck still working fine, I opted to pass.
If it had included the ability to play all my past XB Original, 360, and Xbone games tied to my MS account though, natively on the device, I probably would've jumped immediately into a few rounds of Harmony of Despair.
Is the Switch 2 a bargain by comparison to the new XB handhelds? Probably, but still really lame that the Switch 2 didn't come with a proper glass screen and hall effect sticks on the joycons.
@SalvorHardin What's missing the point so hard they look like that don't-touch-the-floor meme, where the floor is the point? Who needs the point when you can just spew drivel?
Nintendo fans when Breath of the Wild iterates on ideas from the Elder Scrolls games: "I can't believe Nintendo invented open world fantasy tropes like crafting and climbing."
Nintendo fans when other games iterate on ideas from Nintendo games: "WHIP THEM. WHIP THE PISS RIGHT OUT OF THEM. SUPPORT THE BILLIONAIRE ORGANIZATION AT ONCE."
I just tried the Sonic Racing Crossworlds demo, and yeah, it is absolutely 100x better than MKW. Better visuals, better music, better feeling game, better track gimmick with the 2nd lap switchup.
I like the feel of Mario Kart games more than past Sonic racers, but Crossworlds feels much more like the better MK8 I wanted than MKW does.
@Clammy Terrible analogy. The former is not denying Nintendo money; the pirate wasn't going to pay Nintendo anyway. The latter is not the same thing.
And even if you meant that example to be me developing a game that got pirated, your analogy would still be terrible because piracy has actually helped indie games find audiences. "Video Game Piracy Is Good, Actually" by Lextorias; look it up.
@poyo_pie Everything borrows and draws inspiration from everything else. The only thing IP laws do is give those with more money the ability to harass those with less.

Re: Best Zelda Games Of All Time
@DennyCrane IntiCreates once said they wanted to do a Zelda 2 remake. Nintendo oughtta let 'em.
Re: Official Zelda Movie Photos Give Us Our Best Look Yet At Link And Zelda
They look good.
Re: Poll: Have You Had Issues With The Ethernet Port On Switch 2's Dock?
I have gripes with the Switch 2 but this ain't one of them. My port works like a dream. Hoping Nintendo can fix the issue for those having trouble.

Re: Nintendo Quietly Reveals A New Suit For Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
I need this game in my mouth right now.
And also everyone crying about the VAs or whatever is a clown.
Re: Pokémon Legends: Z-A Is Now The "Best-Selling" Physical Game In The US This Year
Unfortunate.
Re: Feature: 12 Details You Might Have Missed In The Mario Galaxy Movie Trailer
Here's hoping more of the actors actually sound like they want to be there this time. This is a problem the Sonic movies don't have.

Re: Square Enix Aims To Automate 70% Of QA With Generative AI By 2027
I don't care for AI fearmongering and I've no issue with it automating processes provided there are humans to error check after the fact.
The layoffs, especially right after SE announces a return to profitability, are my concern.
Re: Review: Double Dragon Revive (Switch) - Nice Ideas, Uneven Execution
I want Double Dragon Neon 2.

Re: Nintendo's Pokémon Catching-Related Patent Has Been Rejected In Japan
@UpsideDownRowlet Nintendo is scummy, yes. Palworld isn't plagiarism. Hope that clarifies things for you.
Re: Nintendo's Pokémon Catching-Related Patent Has Been Rejected In Japan
@breach187 nothing to do with anything but if there are Switch versions of Pro Bass Fishing you should be able to catch Magikarp.
Re: Nintendo's Pokémon Catching-Related Patent Has Been Rejected In Japan
Good. May every last bit of Nintendo's malicious litigiousness backfire hard.
Re: Talking Point: When Did 'Good Enough' Become Good Enough For Pokémon?
Why bother trying when you can get daddy Nintendo to just sue your competition?

Amazing. Must be nice to have had rich parents.

@TOMAWOLF 100% correct.
Re: "Go Tell Nintendo" - Ex-Blizzard President Responds After Xbox Calls Exclusives "Antiquated"
@BaldB3lper78 It's impressive how you manage to say absolutely nothing in that many words.

Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Team Open To More DLC: "Tell Us What You Want"

@GoldenSunRM You weren't going to anyway.
Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Team Open To More DLC: "Tell Us What You Want"
Get Mario so he can be in a good racing game.
Re: Nintendo Direct For Kirby Air Riders Announced For Thursday, 23rd October
Though it now has stiff competition for me in the form of Sonic Racing CrossWorlds (the demo was awesome), I'm still eyeing this game.
Perhaps they'll each scratch a different itch, neither of which was scratched by MKW.
Also, I hope Marx is in the game. Best Kirby character. He did nothing (everything) wrong.
Re: Anniversary: SNES Action RPG 'Terranigma' Is 30 Years Old Today, And It's Still A 10/10 In Our Book
@metaphysician ........... Perhaps...

5/10, tops.

I want a remake to give Ark the happy ending he deserves.
Anyone who disagrees with that is welcome to fight me.

@Shade_Koopa Fair.
Re: Poll: Which Starter Pokémon Did You Choose In Pokémon Legends: Z-A?
Totodile. Time for the rise of Feraligatr.
Re: Talking Point: How Do You Play NES Games These Days?
Emulation.
I'll play them on NSO if they're on there, but for the ones that aren't, there's Retroarch.
Re: Poll: Is It About Time Game Freak Added Voice Acting To Pokémon?
@Shade_Koopa Most dubs are good, especially in 2025. Only hardcore sub-only elitists disagree.
Re: Poll: Is It About Time Game Freak Added Voice Acting To Pokémon?
There's no way they don't have the money.
Everyone who's like "buh buh I hate voice acting and I'd set it to a language I don't understand or turn it off" can kindly be quiet.

IP law is stupid and anyone actually mad about this needs to get off the internet.
