Fun fact: in the Ogre Battle timeline, both this game (Episode 6) and Tactics Ogre (Episode 7) happen at roughly the same time (after the original Ogre Battle, which is Episode 5).
Tactics Ogre got like 17 remakes, so I hope one day, this game gets one too.
And perhaps, in a far off dream: the conclusion to the Ogre Battle story, Episode 8...
I mean, it's not hard to outdo MKW, but still. Personally I'm disappointed by the lack of guest voices and waiting on Kirby Air Riders, though I haven't tried the Crossworlds demo. (EDIT - I now have, and it's way better than MKW. Like, no contest.)
The last time I remember being disappointed in a Mario Kart game before World was Wii, only because they got rid of Double Dash's double karts. And before THAT... none.
Also plenty of Sonic-related things outdo their Mario counterparts. The Sonic movies are better, Sonic Mania is a far better sequel to the classics than the NSMB games were, and even back in my youth I'd play S3&K and Sonic 2 more than SMW.
Very neat concept though yet another time I wish Nintendo released PC games, as that's where I'd most want to play this. Still though I might see how my friends feel about it...
I enjoyed it, though its problems are less about music and more about how a lot of the cast sounds like they don't want to be there. The ones that DO (like Jack Black) nail it.
All three Sonic movies are, each, better, purely because their casts LOVE being in them (or at least are good at faking it).
@Lofoten A proper glass screen and hall effect sticks on the joy-cons. Spare me any nonsense about how those would've possibly raised the price, though.
@Telcontyr Yeah no, wrong. There have always been unoptimised trash games, in every gaming era. I would know: I've been playing since the early 80s. There's good and bad, both Nintendo and non-Nintendo. Believing otherwise is lunacy (and objectively wrong).
@PikaPhantom Exactly. It's pretty damn clear the game is going to hinge on Prime 1-esque environments and these bike areas will be a more minor component.
Just remember guys that this is still better than emulating the games, which is just immoral and wrong and not at all super easy to do even on suboptimal PC hardware.
I love Bubsy and I'm the first person to say the games suck. Bubsy 4D is the only one that might break the tradition, and I hope it isn't the last.
That said, in an era of litigious companies (Nintendo included, but not the only offender) fighting against game preservation, collections like this are a blessing.
@Suketoudara From what I remember, most of the music is the same. The biggest outlier is that the final boss theme for Panel de Pon is only used as Bowser's intro theme in Tetris Attack, and the "pinch" version of that theme goes unheard in our version.
Baby steps... but still welcome ones. Good job Nintendo!
I tried using the joy-con as a mouse the other day. Even with the dbrand grip, it was unpleasant. But still good in a pinch I suppose, or if your USB mouse has a short cord.
@PressTurn The option to swap two buttons is not the same thing. What if someone wants jump on ZL?
There are games from the 80s that let you remap buttons. Nintendo devs need to stop acting like there are universal schemes that are good for everyone just because Miyamoto likes it. Look how many decades it finally took Metroid Prime to have a proper control scheme.
Yeah I swapped it immediately AND I despise how Miyamoto and Nintendo in general don't understand that while it's okay to design a default mapping scheme, you should be LETTING PEOPLE REMAP BUTTONS, AND NOT JUST VIA OVERARCHING SYSTEM SETTINGS.

Re: Mario Kart World And Donkey Kong Bananza Shortlisted For 'Console Game Of The Year'
Bananza deserves the accolades. MKW does not.
Re: "OpenAI Is Trying To Get Sued" - Nintendo IP Floods Sora 2 Video Generation App
IP law and AI fearmongering are both stupid.
AI is not the problem, it's class society and corporate greed.

Re: Review: Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - An Excellent Port Of A Timeless Classic
@Mando44646 They claim it's out of preservation but it's much more likely just because this way it's less work.
Re: Review: Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - An Excellent Port Of A Timeless Classic
Though the loss of WotL content is a bummer, it isn't a dealbreaker. Looking forward to the game.

@Jorbi This is impressively clueless.

Just shows to go ya, you can get away with overpriced mediocrity as long as it's popular.

@ZimmerRemmiz Leave the billionaire corporation alone, you guys.
Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Checking Out Switch Online's Virtual Boy Service?
Nope. I would've if it didn't require a pointless hardware purchase and had the features you get emulating VB.

Re: Opinion: Metroid Prime 4 Reminds Me Of Gears 5, And It's Making Me Nervous
@Telcontyr This is a silly stance. Many devs make polished, refined games, and not every Nintendo 1st party effort is great either.
Re: Opinion: Metroid Prime 4 Reminds Me Of Gears 5, And It's Making Me Nervous
@PikaPhantom Exactly. It's pretty damn clear the game is going to hinge on Prime 1-esque environments and these bike areas will be a more minor component.
Re: Opinion: Metroid Prime 4 Reminds Me Of Gears 5, And It's Making Me Nervous
An apt comparison, this ain't.
@ZeldaFan83 Agreed about Gears 5. I liked elements of 4, though it was definitely the weakest entry at the time.
Re: Sega Reignites Its Nintendo Rivalry In New Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Trailer

It's a good ad, honestly, and playful fun. Anyone actually mad about it is a supreme clown.

Re: Opinion: I'm Celebrating Super Mario Bros.' 40th Anniversary By Finally Finishing It
You can do it. Just set aside an hour or two one day.
Use the warp zones if you want; it still counts as beating the game, let no one tell you otherwise.

Re: Virtual Boy Is Being Added To Nintendo Switch Online
Wow. They could've NOT required a ridiculous addon, but then they couldn't have milked more money.
Disgusting. Nintendo really is setting itself up for a Microsoft-esque fall from grace.
Re: Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 Prices Are Live, And It's Sticker Shock Time
Reminder that Expedition 33 is less expensive and more impressive.

Re: More Switch Games Have Received Switch 2 Compatibility Fixes
@SuperBro64 Same.
Re: Poll: Three Months In, How Would You Rate Switch 2's Library So Far?
Meh, in terms of Switcheroo exclusives. Bananza is amazing, MKW not so much, and... ports.
But there's plenty of 2025 left, and plenty of Switch 2 years left.
