Anywho, it's fine. Actors act. There are Japanese works set in Western settings filled with characters speaking Japanese (even in settings where the Japanese language is rare, like Guilty Gear) and even Japanese live action adaptations of said things with Western settings with Japanese actors. It ain't that big a deal.

@CapAmerica I am not a Nintendo fan, and I definitely would get this on Steam if Nintendo ported their games to PC. But I don't think it's a matter of defending the performance dips here as much as expecting them. Voxel terrain chunking with more than just Minecraft details needs processing power, unfortunately.

Doesn't bother me as long as it doesn't negatively impact the experience. As long as it's still possible to read what's happening and as long as the performance dips aren't eating controller inputs, I'll live.

Overprice games, never offer meaningful discounts, and take away one of the tiny discounts one could get.

Remove blue shells OR make them target EVERY person ahead of the fire-er.

I'm no Miyamoto defender and in fact dislike quite a bit about his views and design philisophy.

But I do understand the position here. I also think there's overlap between product and art, and just because you view something as a product doesn't mean you cannot express yourself through it.

I really hope Romero and his studio secure funding. The man is level design royalty, a treasure, and someone who deserves better than what MS pulled.

I have grievances with the system, but the launch itself seemed smooth. I got the system for the games, though, so it's not like I have a choice if I want to play Bananza or Prime 4.

Everyone loves them. I don't. I loved when hi-def made everything sharp and not blurry.

@Yalloo Nintendo is evil and greedy as well, and many, many examples can be found. Just because Microsoft is evil and greedy doesn't mean other game publishers are saints.

And no, you cannot impact any of this by playing or not playing only certain publishers' games. Even if so, they all collude and use each others' works. Smash Brothers was likely developed on Microsoft Windows machines and features characters owned by and licensed from Microsoft; two examples of many.

John Romero is one of the greatest level designers of all time. He and his team deserve better than this.

@Aurumonado Of course once we start looking at other factors beyond employee retention, like their efforts to combat game preservation, their litigious nature, their recent patent trolling, their charging a price for a pack-in game that is just an ad for their own hardware, etc., Nintendo doesn't look all that good either.

There are no "outliers" when it comes to massive, multinational organizations. The lot of them are aberrations, parasites who ensure that money forever trickles up.

Yes, the company in question is Microsoft right now. But it's important to shut down this nonsense that there are "good" corporations in 2025.

@vio Rare made loads and loads of duds back then too. The Rare collection is filled to burst with them.

MS ruins companies and is running Xbox into the ground to be sure but let's not pretend that everything Rare put out back then was gold.

Would be nice if Switch 2 could get Tokon, but unfortunately I don't think Sony is going to play ball on that.

None yet. Mario Kart World is underwhelming. We will see what DK Bananza and Metroid Prime 4 have to offer though. I'm cautiously optimistic about both.

If either Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii or Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 make it onto the Switch 2 and play well, the system will have GOTY contenders for sure.

@Mesozoic_Masquerade Patents already benefit big companies like Apple and Samsung, way more than they'd benefit if patents just went the way of the dodo. But patents being abolished does need to be a part of a bigger movement to separate from capitalism and class society, or it will mean little; on that, you have a point.

When this opened the ArcSys showcase I should have realized the next 30 minutes of my life are ones I'd never have back.

Even in cases where the output IS used, there's still a degree of creativity that needs to transform it from slop to something real, like the entries in Runway's AI video competition.
