Major game publishers are starting to show off their games ahead of E3 opening its doors, with Bethesda getting in on the act.
A company renowned for its complex RPG titles in addition to its flashier action-based releases, we expect a mix of titles - rumours and leaks point to Dishonored 2 being shown, while a remaster in the Elder Scrolls series may be on the cards. In any case, these are games that won't be mentioned for Nintendo hardware, so if you want the usual live blog and comments treatment we recommend you join our buddies at Push Square, who'll be watching closely.
Enjoy!

Ill be waiting!
Again I say this has nothing to do with Nintendo.
I'm not watching, but I'm going to keep the live stream by my side. Curious to see what news of maybe another Fallout spinoff (in New Orleans....) or some Elder Scrolls news...
Depth perception's not good enough for these huge Bethesda worlds but there's no outright hostility like there is towards EA.
Bethesda will be bringing Skyrim to Wii U!
Jk, only Minecraft did that. Which is more than anyone expected
You can also watch it over at Pure Xbox: http://www.purexbox.com/news/2016/06/e3_2016_bethesda_conference_liveblog_and_stream
Am I allowed to post a link to another site like this? It is a sister site to Nintendo Life so I figured it'd be okay. It's kind of odd that you forgot to mention Pure Xbox's stream in this post, given you mentioned them in the EA post.
Have they ever bothered with Nintendo in any meaningful way?
@SLIGEACH_EIRE - exactly!
Nothing for Nintendo platforms then. Not surprised. But, both Doom and Fallout 4 coming to VR; that's a pretty major deal. Lot's of people were claiming there were no AAA games for VR. Well, that's two of them right there.
@A01 I tought bethesda's conference was mediocre, they announced two new games(Quake Champions and Prey) but didn't show any gameplay, at last EA showed gameplay for all their new games.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Not every Nintendo fan plays only on Nintendo consoles, you know.
I saw it over on PureXbox. It was ok. better than EA's though. (o_O )
Maybe the staff on this Nintendo site love all kinds of gaming and that is why they are advertising the show times and live streams of content even though it won't be on Nintendo consoles. On the subject of Bethesda, the conference was boring. Skyrim looked like the version I play on PC with the mods I installed. Ending on that extended look at Dishonored 2 sent me to sleep. EA was even worse. I'm looking forward to Microsoft and Sony, and then to bask in the world of Zelda.
They are advertising these because people complained they don't cover the other non-Nintendo presentations, when in reality they do; in the sister sites.
Wow, lame e3 all around this year huh.
Where's a new Elder Scrolls? Where's Mass Effect Andromeda? Where's Dragon Age Tactics? Not even a Dragon Age remaster collection?
[preorders Skyrim remaster]
Sigh...
Kinda boring conference TBH. The new Quake looked cool, as did Dishonored 2. It's also good to see that the Prey reboot/sequel isn't dead either, but other than that, most of the conference was just about updating older titles with new content, which is cool, but not something to build an entire E3 conference on.
It was a terrible conference all around.
It was decent. Not a lot of new things, but what was shown was exciting.
Let's be honest: there isn't enough Nintendo news to fill NintendoLife daily. They need to have news for clicks for ad revenue. That's why were seeing general video game news.
Saying that, after EA's and Bethesda's conferences, if E3 carries on this way there won't be enough video games for anyone to discuss for the rest of the year....
@Moeblob This is a Nintendo site. Bethesda have nothing to do with Nintendo, never have.
@Kirk
Problem is, there's 3 major VR platforms and just 2-3 major AAA to spread among them right now.
For any of them to be a viable platform, it's gonna take a lot more than that. And that's not to say people don't appreciate the mid-tier titles and indies too- I know I do. But I didn't plop $500 down on a VR platform for 1.5 major releases.
It's gonna be just like Vita and Wii U. First year will have some- not a lot but some major AAA support to test the waters and "do their part", but if sales don't meet expectations they're gonna pull out.
I preordered VR to lock it in, and I'll probably keep the order now just out of curiosity alone, but unless there's a lot of new announcements this e3 for VR...
The only good thing in that entire conference was Skyrim: Special Edition, and that's just a remaster of a really old game. This E3 is just getting worse and worse.
@the-madprofessor Here's hoping it'll be a substantially less buggy version than the PS3's...
@JaxonH I don't think this is going to be as big an issue for VR as it was for the Wii U. Wii U is a single console, and the fact it didn't get lots of big third party games led to its failure in the market. VR is basically an entirely new gaming/entertainment platform (that consists of multiple headsets) and it's future doesn't entirely rest on these gen 1 systems getting a few big games (in the same way the various App store/platforms didn't need any big AAA games to be a resounding success); it will just be really cool to get a few of them. I think VR only has to be as successful as even the Wii U in gen 1 to be considered a pretty major success for a brand new gaming/entertainment platform and secure future generations of new VR headsets going forward. And, if it does get a handful of big AAA games, it's only going to be even better for it. But, make no mistake, VR's future isn't hanging on a knife edge based on a few AAA titles; it's just cool to have them and it shows that even in these early days the naysayers are being way too pessimistic about VR.
PS. I looks like the Doom VR game might in fact just a be simple demo, maybe a single area to walk around in or something like that, but the Fallout 4 VR games sounds like it's going to be a proper full version of Fallout 4 running in VR, so that should be pretty dang cool.
Was average upto last years but understandable tho.
@Kirk
If VR is to be more than just a niche PC peripheral, it's gotta bring serious games to the table. Indies and tech demos, like the Wiimote or Kinect, will impress for a time, but longevity will only come from core games.
They don't necessarily need to be AAA, but at this point in the industry most non-AAA developers can't afford to produce more than an indie-level effort on a risky new platform.
Core games always make or break a platform long term.
@JaxonH All VR really needs to be more than a niche peripheral, beyond gen 1, is time (because the tech will continue to improve and the price will continue to drop).
If you mean in terms of even a single device being some huge multi-million selling console in gen 1, that's just not going to happen either way, imo, even with some great first or third party AAA titles. VR is currently too expensive, too early a technology, and too new in general for it to be mainstream just yet. But, again, its future as a new gaming/entertainment platform/category is basically secured already.
It's early days for VR but it really can only get better and better from here on out imo.
@Kirk
What I'm saying is I'm not buying unless I have serious games to play, and more than just 1 or 2. And I'm sure a lot of others feel the same. They don't wanna spend $500-1000 for tech demos and indies.
And without a lot people buying the system, there's no way to profit. And without profit, developers pull out. Developers pull out, and even less people buy the system. It's a vicious cycle.
I'd prefer to not go over to PushSquare if possible. I used to frequent but even the editors seem to have qualms with anyone who has even slight criticism for anything Sony and they encourage vitriol from the userbase. I think I mentioned I didn't like my Vita (I currently just own a PSTV instead) one time and I had absurd amounts of hate from editors and users alike. I even had people track me down on my PS devices to go on a rage fueled hate speech about how much of a fanboy I am for not endlessly praising the Vita and how pathetic I am for owning a 3DS too. The sad part is that even months later, I still get hate mail via various outlets. I will not be part of any community that does stuff like that.
@JaxonH I'm sure loads of others feel the same as you, but they're not the early adopters that count at this point in time, and there's enough of those early adopters jumping in on VR already, from what I've seen, such that it will be just fine until it gets to a point where you might actually be ready to jump in.
@Jayvir I had the same problem. Difference is I love vita but that person didn't believe me. He is banned from pushsquare if I recall right. I banned him a few times from my friend list but he just made a new account to continue his hate.
But overall I have no problem with pushsquare.
@darkswabber I know one person got banned and then continued to just make accounts also. Even reported this person on PSN and still get messages from additional accounts every so often. But two separate editors did nearly the same thing on some of the articles where all they did was just trash me for having a Shulk avatar. I'm just a big fan of all Xeno games, and if I had a Kos-Mos avatar, no one would have said anything. It's that kind of hypocrite behavior from their staff that I can't stand.
