In a late surprise on day two of E3, Nintendo of America has released the charming Rhythm Heaven Megamix on the 3DS eShop. It combines rhythm levels from previous entries in the series along with all-new stages and 'remixes', and has a price tag of $29.99 in the US.
In addition to the game going on sale there's also a demo available. Sadly this only applies to North America; at the time of writing neither the demo or full game are available in Europe, where it's called Rhythm Paradise Megamix.
Are any of you in North America planning to pick this up?

Yep, saw a ton of people writing this in the Twitch chat before they "officially" announced this. Downloading now.
I downloaded this on my Japanese-region 3DS a while ago.
The actual songs are really, really good, but I really disliked the meaningless cutscenes between them.
Fantastic game, shame I live in Europe.
Digital only 💔
Hoping for a physical copy at some point. C'mon Shibata, do your European release magic.
Why no retail version?
And why does Europe always get screwed when it comes to release dates?
@TruenoGT I think? I saw on Treehouse while they were playing that there was a button named "English" so pushing it maybe toggles it to Japanese?
Why not in Europe Also! Im am getting sick of stuff like this... At least mention that its only for NA? Its not like the rest of the world isnt watching E3
going to check this out. Might get this on Monday if it's reasonably priced in Canada. But I will be downloading the demo tonight
Yes! ! but can we confirm whether or no it is a definite no or not for a retail release in North America at least before some of us jump and buy it on the eShop .. : /
@ThomasBW84
@infernogott considering how the past ones sold mediocrely I don't think they will take any chances going physical...at least for a long while
I love Rhythm Heaven and of course want to get this! but....I see that is has Rhythm Rally in it....my arch nemesis. That game kept me from 100% perfect in the DS game for far too long
@SMEXIZELDAMAN omg..it has rhythm rally ..i didnt't know help
ALL OF MY YES
@Minotaurgamer Didn't it sell really good in Japan? At least I have that physical version.
Darn. I knew I'd regret spending all my monies on Planet Robobot just before E3.
really hope we get physical in the uk i mean they publish inazuma eleven physically and while i like the games they sell like crap
Multiplayer....Yes!
It's a shame we probably won't be receiving a physical copy of this game. I'm not a hardcore collector or anything, but I prefer to have games physically whenever possible. If Pokemon Rumble World got a physical copy, surely this game could as well. Regardless, I'll probably pick this game up sometime later this summer.
I bet Ash from GameXplain is in heaven right now.
Darn it, Nintendo! I thought this was coming out later in the year! I already got Kirby, and am getting Zero Time Dilemma... I can't afford three games in one month!
...that being said, this is a very good kind of anger I'm feeling. Better to have too many games than too few, right?
where is the #physical release @ reggie ....
Wow! Europe please!
Physical release and I'm in.
Awww, no physical release, and it's quite pricey in CDN money. June was packed already so I'll wait for now.
the trailer says "only on eShop" if people are wondering ...yikeS guess i gotta shell out those digital funds thanks reg
Shame there's no physical release, but a game series like Rhythm Heaven, it makes sense. I do wish it was a touch cheaper, but I'll give the demo a try and let my wallet recoup from Kirby and the eShop sale, wait it out. Maybe My Nintendo will eventually do a 20% or 30% discount in the fall...
Not paying $42.29 right now for this game. Will get the demo and then see about getting it at a later date
I'll definitely be getting this game at some point (probably during a sale). It looks like a blast. It's disappointing that it's digital-only, but I wouldn't mind having this game installed on my system anyway.
On one hand, I'm dissapointed that there's no physical version. On the other hand, Rhythm Heaven, baby!
It's an eShop title exclusively? That's too bad, a friend of mine is a huge Rhythm Heaven fan, but she won't be able to get it because her 3DS has been hacked
Now this is what I expected from a Nintendo E3, the unexpected. A nice surprise since there were no leaks and we (mainly me) forgot about it. Guess the best way to keep a game a secret now a days is not to let retail store know.
I don't mind that it's digital since I normally download games. Matter of fact, I would of play my Rhythm Heaven Fever more if it was digital on the Wii U instead of accessing Wii mode with the disc. A well downloading
Neato
@faint I hear ya. I guess it shouldn't come as that big of a surprise, though... The first one did favorably so I can't imagine why they'd choose to pass on a physical release.
Digital only means no advertising and less awareness. I guess they wont risk a physical version for fear of low sales, but eShop only precisely creates less sales.
Anyway I love this so I will get it.
@ap0001 this demo is... weird
people how are you supposed to beat the lumbearjack game I'm laughing way too hard to actually concentrate during it
This game confirmed for purchase down the line (just spent this month's on kirby)
I've already downloaded it. Just waiting for my 3DS to charge up before playing.
WHAT?! Thats it. Best E3 surprise ever.
Does it have 3d? Thanks in advance
I'd actually prefer a digital copy of this so I can pick up and play it here and there without switching cartridges.
Plus I have enough eShop funds in my account already.
...Shame it's not out here.
Heck yeah!
From what I've played so far, this entry has been a great return for the series! While part of me wishes that all of the rhythm games in it were new, it is fun to revisit some old ones. I also love that you can choose between button or stylus input. I've noticed that some of the games feel a bit shorter than in the previous versions. I suppose this makes it better for quick play on the go, but I do miss the challenge of trying to keep perfect rhythm for longer periods. I haven't played through the entire game though, so this could change. Either way, I'm so happy to see the return of this IP!
So I guess there won't be a retail-version for the west? Bummer!
Me watching trailer: "Oh this looks cool. Should be good when it finally releas-Wha?What?! Now?!Its available now? Wahoo! Thank you Nintendo!-Oh...only available in North America..." WHY NO EUROPE NINTENDO? WHY YOU SO STUPID?
I hope it comes to Europe soon. I guess it takes more time to localise it to more languages.
Physical release is coming to Europe..
Already gotten, and I am sorry for my European brothers and sisters in Nintendo. I still don't quite get why Nintendo releases games at different times in different regions.
Someone told me once that it's because there are lots of different languages to translate for in Europe....but I didn't think that made any sense as you guys have gotten games before us (Muricans) like Paper Jam which was MUCH more text heavy.
EU release confirmed as October 21st but we get a physical copy which helps soften the blow of the wait.

Dang, this is quick!
My wallet needs a break. I bought 3 games this week! Majora's Mask 3D, Smash Wii U, and now Rhythm Heaven.
I had fun with the demo, but seems I have less rhythm than I thought! The game is mega expensive for Canadians as well. I will keep a sharp eye out for a deal down the road - in the meantime, I will turn to Rhythm Thief and Theatrhythm for my Rhythm gaming needs.
