It's been a busy day over at E3, and there's one more major conference to come before Nintendo does its thing. Sony is next up, pitching its latest and greatest games and features for PS4.
The company recently confirmed that it won't be showing the PS4 Neo / PS4K at E3, to the disappointment of plenty. Nevertheless there's scope for plenty of major games, with the likes of God of War IV and The Last Guardian expected.
Our buddies over at Push Square are covering this, with the stream kicking off at 6pm Pacific / 9pm Eastern / 2am UK / 3am CET; you can join them to watch it all unfold.
Enjoy!

They aren't showing their new systems until after the NX is revealed so that they can rip off whatever Nintendo came up with.
@rayolinels thanks, fixed - I think Tom has gone to sleep!
@gokev13 really ? xbox and ps4 now can play 4k games and they working on new project scorpio / neo ... nintendo never had any powerful console at any life time they are always few steps behind ... and remember this please NX will support 1080 max or 900 and i don't think they will do 60fps too you will never have a 4k like any other consoles + you will pay 400$ for a crappy spec + few games a year and we all experience that with wii U ... nintendo already ripped off with wii U and they never learn anything from the past ... ps4/xbox way better than wii u and I'm pretty sure will be better than NX when it comes to spec's and prices + games ... I'm the biggest nintendo fan but i hate consoles they are making but i love the games they makes too ! ... so fan boys chill please sony and Microsoft don't care about NX they are doing better before and after NX fanboys such as you are the reason why nintendo are doing bad specially the last few years
are you watching E3 right now ? are you seeing the games they are getting ? its wonderful and beyond amazing !! and ppl are happy here because they are getting a new harvest moon game and another crappy indie game that cost 20$ on e-shop lol
I liked it!
@A01 After Skyward Sword? Yeah it's pretty possible to get an awful entry in the Zelda series. SS was such a let down in so many ways.
Comparing Sony to Nintendo right now in terms of games, is like comparing the Amazon Rainforest to the Dry Valleys of Antarctica. It's a shame.
All the NL folk in the live stream chat, riling up the Sony crowd. Hopefully they don't come over here tomorrow for the Treehouse, we got enough problems as it is. And enough commenters.
GoW: Courtship of Eddie's Father edition, looked really good.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6uxiSsPWuA
Horizon looked really good, even COD looked really good to me, but I don't play those games so not a good judge, just graphically nobody is going to confuse it w/ SFZ.
Zelda U has its work cut out for it.
Will be interesting to see if there is another amiibo Skyladners crossover now that it has Crash. Something else to watch for I guess.
Of course for people who only play on Nintendo consoles, the new Zelda live gameplay will be enough to declare Nintendo the winner of this year's e3 (if the game is indeed awesome). But for everyone else, I think there's no doubt that Sony had the best presentation by a long shot, I really didn't saw it coming.
Sony wins
Sony's presentation was very good but I haven't seen anything that makes me want to buy a new console. I was hoping for a game changer and didn't get one.
@WavedasherX
No, because they showed nothing but GARBAGE aside from the Crash remasters.
Nintendo fans so desperate they have to marginalize every other game announcement.
I was expecting some Shenmue 3 tease or a demo trailer, disappointed that one was never shown.
Dat Spider-Man tho.
I loved everything ... But spider man ? Really ?
God of War looked solid as usual, I can't say there was a "rush out and buy this console!" game for me though.
None of the other games stood out apart from FFXV which got like... two minutes?
Sony killed
I thought it was a pretty good conference. Horizon still looks cool, and Detroit looks interesting. Kojima was a surprise, but his trailer didn't really show much (and did it ever say if it was PS4 exclusive?). I'm a big Crash Bandicoot fan, but I'm very skeptical about the announced remakes. I can't help but feel that remaking (as opposed to remastering) games from that gen won't be good. Maybe it's the nostalgia talking, but I just can't imagine the PS1 games looking good as modern HD games. I simply cannot envision PapuPapu or Tiny the Tiger remade in 1080p...
Overall, Sony caught my interest, but not enough to make me want to buy a PS4. For now I'll stick with my PS3 and Wii U, and wait for the NX.
@peeks Ha ha just a little joke man. I was just referring back to when the Wii sold really well and suddenly Sony and Microsoft had to make motion control stuff for their systems. I am loyal to Nintendo systems but that is because they generally give me what I am looking in a video game. That probably is due to me growing up playing Nintendo games. I sometimes look at what the other guys are doing and even though some of those games look great I never really have a longing to play them. Maybe it is because I have an ever growing backlog of games on my Nintendo systems that I am always trying to master. Right now I have my NES hooked up and I am trying to finish all the games I have for that when I am not playing 3DS or WiiU. This year I finished Battletoads, Cobra Triangle, TMNT, Ghostbusters II, Rygar, and some others. That's the beauty of video games though, sometimes what one person sees as rubbish another sees as a work of art. I think that is why people still get excited about harvest moon games and crappy indie games. Heck, my wife has been playing a harvest moon game on our 3ds for almost a whole year now (almost once a day).
@PigmaskFan GARBAGE? C'mon now, there's no need to TRASH Sony's presentation.
@Peeks
They never had a powerful console? You don't even know what you're talking about.
What a disgusting comment.
Excited for spiderman and the last guardian.
I'm disappointed.. if you are not into vr (and don't like demos of vr-games) and like rpg, it was a little poor.. no ffVII, no shenmue
for me not the winner of e3
btw: the last guardian will be awesome
@BlatantlyHeroic was not awful
@peeks you need to have a look at videogame history beyond the last 10 years
Sony's was great. A shame some announcements were leaked beforehand, but the conference was still worth seeing despite of that.
Nice presentation. It will be hard not to buy PS4 once Persona comes out.
Sony's conference was solid. Not the best ever, but goodness knows this E3 was sucking hard. Nice to see a conference with nothing but games. God of War was the one new announcement I'm really hyped for, although Spiderman and Kojima's 'Buttocks and Ocean' looked good too.
Nintendo is on the cusp of the next generation so, their E3 will be at the NX reveal (with Pikmin 4, Beyond Good & Evil 2, Zelda NX, etc). But I'm happy with their 3DS output. That Kirby Robobot is a blast and Monster Hunter drops soon. So hyped!
MS did ok too. Liking that Halo Wars 2, Forza Horizon 3 and Phantom Dust.
@Daemonite
"Nintendo is a joke compared to them"
You're just as bad as the Nintendo fanboys.
@Achoo I'm here because its my fav website to get nintendo news + gamecube came out more than 15 years ago so wake up and stop crying on nintendo old good days
@Vegaphil im so happy with nintendo 3ds .. its my fav nintendo handheld of all time ! and i was super happy with nintendo wii ... but wii U ? urrm NO !
Sony's conference was decent. Lots more colour than the xbox games. God of War looked great. I'm waiting on an announcement for the NX, though. Confirmation of JD17 has not inspired confidence. Maybe I'll get both PS4/neo and NX. No VR though.
@peeks So you don't like the Wii u, not really interested in that but you mentioned Nintendo has always been the furthest behind in terms of power which is not true. None of the Snes, n64 or GameCube were the lowest powered in their generations. People are obsessed with power these days but when you actually look at which consoles have sold best in each generation it is rarely the most powerful that wins.
@Vegaphil well if its not has even a little power like wiiU then there is no 3rd party support thats why we get 2 games a year for wii u ( BIG TITELS ) + you are paying the same price as ps4 and wii u ! why not getting a powerful console like them ? 32 gb deluxe wii u ? really ? + check the history n64 gamecube and wii u all has the least sales ever ! ... only SNES NES AND WII sold good numbers
Exceptional format and great looking games. Call of Duty is as Call of Duty does but that space marines ship-to-ship action was a game-changer. I was hoping it was Battlestar until the reveal.
And the VR titles look amazing: Star Trek, Star Wars, Arkham, and a Metroid-Prime-like or two --- all the right properties and concepts to prompt adoption (too bad about the price point though). Not to mention a Final Fantasy with VR capability. Remains to be seen if regular console releases are enhanced by VR or if it's just gimmicky but there is a ton of promise.
Still, this E3 without Nintendo brings into stark focus the charm that Nintendo alone brings to the scene. The other two are simply lacking that particular kind of essential magic. And I mean essential to the industry not necessarily to the success of a console. Sony's and Microsoft's parallel evolution is exciting and necessary to the medium, but it is a standard path. Nintendo needs to dip into that while maintaining their innovative nature in order to succeed.
Sony and Microsoft indeed have their own kind of magic but I didn't see much other than gritty realism, especially in Sony's VR offerings. Where are the Fantasia-likes, the Studio Ghiblis, the Nights Into Dreams-style free-flying emmersive fantasies with stunning animation and responsive orchestration? VR has the potential to tell so many stories beyond military and I know it's early days but experimentation with genres and stylish, visual variety is glaringly absent from the field.
@Mainsaile Have you seen the last guardian trailer? It does' t get much more inspiring, ghibli-ish than that...I missed the colourfulness of Nintendo for sure though.
@peeks Yes and in the Wii's case it was the weakest console available. The original PlayStation and PS2 were both weaker than the competition but still sold the most. All of Nintendo's handheld's have been weaker than their competitors but still outsold them. The NES was weaker than the Sega master system and had the most sales. I don't disagree with you that the nx will need good third party support, and power will play a part in that, but it is not as important as many people think. The nx doesn't need to be the most powerful system available but it does need to be close to the others, then it's unique features can give it an edge
@pandarino I agree. The Last Guardian is gorgeous and hopefully narratively rich but I was referencing VR specifically with that particular criticism.
Seems like too much happening at one time for me I mean 4k, VR, motion controllers, cameras, mid cycle console horsepower upgrades. The industry has reached the point of critical mass. I understand that you are not required to buy all this stuff but it just seems like too much happening at one time in the industry. I think they should have picked 4k or VR. If you want VR and a 4k display you are fixing to drop $1,000.
You people spend so much time arguing and boasting about Sony being best or Nintendo being best, or Sony being trash or Nintendo being a joke....
Why would anyone game Sony Because the games are awesome and lots of third party games, just tons of gems to play
Why would anyone game Nintendo Because the games are awesome and very unique- offers different games and always a delightful spread of exclusives
Man I wish people would stop acting like gaming Nintendo has nothing to offer, or that gaming Sony has nothing to offer.
I need a multi gamer site without fanboy ignorance
@InklingOrange I agree. Seems like almost too much going on at once.
As far as the conferences are concerned, I've always had a mutual respect for Sony, and they gave a solid performance that was focused on games.
Both Nintendo and Sony are healthy for the gaming world. Although opposite sometimes in nature, they both work towards creativity and innovation, and rarely "sell out"
Microsoft on the other hand.... What a joke of a conference. You can tell that they are definitely more "corporatized" than the other console manufacturers. It felt more like an Apple event than a game conference event. Shame. They are definitely more of the "sellout" in the industry as opposed to Nintendo & Sony.
Here's to Nintendo adding a little, much needed "magic" to the week's events today @ 1:00 pm E.T.
At least we have Zelda.... at least we have Zelda...
@Vegaphil Maybe to you and others, but to me and others it was. It was a very polarizing entry and a step back from Twilight Princess overworld-wise and even story-wise. The artstyle was also truthfully meh.
Isn't this off-topic? Just because you're related to Push Square doesn't mean you can write about Sony.
Crash Bandicoot remastered, and an open-world Spider-Man game made by Insomniac Games.
Darn it, I just bought my Xbox One!
@JaxonH It's been a while since I've been on this site, but I love your neutral stance as usual. Always the voice of reason, Jax!
@PigmaskFan don´t be a fanboy. Nintendo was the worst of the bunch. Yeah, Breath of the Wild looks AMAZING, but the fact that it's their only game this year, and the fact that they didn't show the NX is extremely worrying.
