Re: Review: Mega Man 7 (New 3DS / SNES)

Zapkido

Nah nah nah, Mega Man & Bass is the worst. Awful level/boss design there, although the sound and visual design is really quite nice. (Haven't played Challenger from the Future, can't speak for that one.)

Re: Video: Learn About Alternate Costume Origins In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS

Zapkido

@BulbasaurusRex I suppose models may be a problem for a costume like Dry Bowser, but I still feel like Nintendo could get away with much more. Characters like Mr. L. wouldn't require any drastic changes, and I doubt changing Samus' visor shape on her Dark Samus alt. would be much of a problem. Even changing Link to look like he's wearing a more legitimate Zora Suit would be no more than changing Robin's hair.

As for Sonic's friends, they might be a problem, due to the shape of their bodies not compensating for Sonic's attacks. I don't see how Shadow being an assist trophy is a problem, though. Litte Mac was an assist as well! Shadow also has a good few pre-existing voice clips, and Robin has changed voice clips as well. Don't know how much of a problem it'd be to get his voice, however.

Wow! Lots of examples listed here I didn't quite get before, though some I feel are a stretch.

Anybody else think Nintendo could do a MUCH better job with costumes in Smash? Come on! Mr. L.? A real Fusion Suit with its own model? Dry Bowser? What about a better Galacta Knight, or a real Zora Tunic from Twilight Princess? Conductor Link? Different Robot Masters, or the main protagonists from each Mega Man series? What about Sonic's friends, at least Shadow? The possibilities are endless, and I'm barely even scratching the surface.

Re: Negative Reception For Devil's Third Is Due To Poor Player Skill, Claims Tomonobu Itagaki

Zapkido

@BLPs You're not alone! I love Sonic Lost World, though I can see some of the issues people had in regards to levels design. Controls though? Nah, they're fine. The Wii U version is underrated. The 3DS version...well...

Anyways, I'm not sure I'm really liking this guy. Sounds pretty obnoxiously egotistical, and it seems like he won't live up to his own failures. I'm pretty sure he's deleting negative Facebook comments on that post though, 'cause I didn't see a single negative one. It's all just "You're so great" and "Reviewers are terrible!"

Re: New Mega Man TV Series Blasting Its Way to Screens in... 2017

Zapkido

Please, please don't be cancelled.

I heard some people on Rockman Corner saying that this may be Capcom trying to reinstitute the Mega Man brand into relevance. Here's hoping it leads to more super fighting robots.

@RupeeClock Man of Action made Big Hero 6, huh? If I wasn't interested before, I am now. I remember Generator Rex being good too, but I was never interested in Ben 10.

Now that I think of it, does Man of Action have something for transforming heroes? Rex, Ben, with Big Hero 6, not so much, but now Mega Man? Interesting.

Re: Review: Mega Man Zero 4 (Wii U eShop / Game Boy Advance)

Zapkido

Either this or Zero 3 are probably my favorites in the series- I recommend all of these games. Skip the first and watch a let's play or something to get the important parts if you'd like, as the first isn't the greatest of Mega Man games. Though I'd recommend playing them through the Zero Collection- more control options and better music quality, plus extras! I'm surprised that the story wasn't mentioned in the review- I love the ending and the overall story of this series, it is absolutely fantastic!

Re: Review: Splatoon (Wii U)

Zapkido

@DeltaPeng Dang. Hopefully they do something better about that, like 2 player Turf War, with special maps designed around the mode. What happens when there are no more online servers? It's a shame, I was hoping for local vs. or local coop online at least.

Re: Review: Splatoon (Wii U)

Zapkido

This game does have offline multiplayer in the same ways offered online, right? Like, say, you can play modes that are available online but locally with multiple people? Sorry if it was mentioned in the review, I may have missed it.

Re: Mighty No. 9 Confirmed for September Release, Along With Physical Retail Version

Zapkido

I agree, day one DLC is total nonsense. Physical or not, if you have it done, put it in the game. Don't take out content for a few extra bucks.

I will be picking up this game though, assuming it gets good feedback! I am a huge Mega Man fan, and Comcept has already proved it can make an awesome game in the form of Azure Striker Gunvolt. Physical it is, but I hope that digital buyers get what's already been completed.

Re: Poll: Which is the Best Super Smash Bros. Game?

Zapkido

Definitely Smash U. The awesome roster (Miis! Mega Man! Sonic and Pac-Man too!), amazing visuals and soundtrack, omega forms for every stage (which are also awesome), great single player, and great balance and gameplay. Everything is just awesome about this game!

I've never played Melee, but honestly it doesn't look all that special. 64 is just ok but feels kind of clunky. I haven't played Smash 3DS all that much but it's very fun.

Brawl is also a lot of fun but the randomness really holds it back- loved the Subspace Emissary though. I wish they had left it in the Wii U version. Imagine a campaign with the new roster!

Re: Rumour: Dubious Walmart Listing Suggests Supposed Paper Mario Title for Wii U

Zapkido

@NodesforNoids I meant nostalgic in the sense that I played it as a child and remember it fondly because of that, but perhaps you're right.

Yet even when not compared to its genre or series, Sticker Star is a mess of a game due to its gameplay problems, as well as others. Its main gameplay, the fighting, is unnecessary, there is a ton of trial and error, puzzles with no room for error, etc. Its other gameplay, world exploring, is just okay but is complemented by its music and art style. It feels a bit like you ignored most of my comment, which details the gameplay flaws that overall make Sticker Star terrible.

Re: Rumour: Dubious Walmart Listing Suggests Supposed Paper Mario Title for Wii U

Zapkido

@dequesi I beg to differ. As someone who has no nostalgic bias, here's why Sticker Tsar is literally one of the worst games I've ever played:

Pros: Great soundtrack, awesome visual style, neat concept
Cons: Battling is unnecessary: you fight with stickers to get coins to get stickers to get coins to...
The boss fights are trial and error your first time through unless you have the one correct sticker that makes it a total cakewalk.
Serious lack of creativity. Every character is an established Mario character and are incredibly boring (even Bowser!) with the exception of Kersti.
None of that Paper Mario charm like every other game in the series had.
Extremely vague puzzles that require a specific object. Did I mention that the puzzles have no room for error? Nah, the only kind of ball that can knock down pins is a bowling ball, nothing else...same with that snow melting puzzle...

Ugh, I could go on and on about this mess of a game...

Re: Review: Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal (3DS)

Zapkido

The demo was pretty good and I enjoyed the exploration aspect, but the fact that it is mandatory kind of detracts from my desire to buy this game. I enjoy exploring but sometimes I just want to go fast. Yeah- going fast in a Sonic game.

Re: Nintendo 64x64: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Zapkido

@antdickens The problem with judging games for their time is that many Ocarina fans still declare it the greatest game of all time. Many say, "Oh it was revolutionary back then," but then state it's better than games today as if that justifies it. You know what was revolutionary? Pong. Why isn't Pong at the top of lists? Because people look at it objectively and compare it to what we have today. But many Ocarina Fans fail to do such a thing, and don't compare it to what we have today.

I'm not trying to attack you nor am I mad at you, I'm just saying. After playing through Ocarina today with no bias, I can say that it is great for its time and still pretty good now, but in my opinion, other Zeldas do what it does better (except music. Oh yes, that music!)
