DLC in the form of new bosses and stages has been on the cards for Mighty Gunvolt since it was revealed back in August that the title would be a free download for Azure Striker Gunvolt owners in Japan.
Now, the first details about the downloadable content for the Inti Creates 3DS eShop title have emerged.
The DLC package will cost US$2.99. For this price, players will receive four new stages and four new bosses based on Azure Striker Gunvolt, Mighty No. 9, and Gal*Gun.
Two of the four bosses featured will be from Mighty No. 9 (including Mighty No. 1 and Mighty No. 7), and the other two bosses are from Azure Striker Gunvolt and Gal*Gun – with Elise representing Gunvolt, and Mr Happiness making an appearance on behalf of Gal*Gun.
Adding to this latest DLC reveal is the news that Mighty Gunvolt will soon be updated to version 2.0. The update – expected to coincide with the DLC release date which has not yet been announced – will rebalance the game, improve menu navigation, and tweak character animations.
One date that is locked in is November 28th for the standalone release of Mighty Gunvolt for US$3.99; this release will also see the end of the title's free offer alongside Azure Striker Gunvolt. For any 3DS owners across Europe wondering; Azure Striker Gunvolt is currently scheduled for a local release this winter.
If you live in North America, let us know in the comments if you’re interested in this additional DLC for Mighty Gunvolt.

Great, i cant wait to...oh...im in Europe...
I never got my download code for mighty gunboat after getting azure
I'll probably be getting it, as I enjoyed Mighty Gunvolt WAY MORE than Azure Striker.
Gentlemen, prepare your wallets.
@rockodoodle I just bought Azure Striker, and you need to check your receipt for the purchase in the eShop to download Mighty Gunvolt: it has the download code on it. It says so on the Azure Striker game description screen in the eShop.
Beck for Smash.
Is this game any good? I will read the review, but would like to hear it from you all.
Neat! I wasn't at all expecting this, but I guess it's cool, since all I really thought about Mighty Gunvolt was how short it is.
Azure Striker hasn't realeased in Brasil yet too. Darn, I would like to take advantage of that promotion/special offer. Guess I'll have to pay for Mighty Gunvolt and also for it's DLC ;/
Coooooool
Oh neat, Mighty Gunvolt's gonna be a little cheaper than I expected. And I guess I better get a move-on with playing my 3DS eShop games, especially the Gunvolts, so I'm ready for the DLC whenever it hits.
Damn, why is everything from IntiCreates taking so freaking long to release in Europe?! Shantae also won't arrive until december! The waaaaait.... melts in agony
I enjoyed Mighty Gunvolt, but its incredibly short. 2.99 is pretty step especially considering the original 5 levels took me 58min and I died a good number of times on the bosses. Still, I guess if you are a huge fan, DLC is nice.
@rockodoodle The code shows up on screen once the download completes if you hit download now. If you hit sleep mode download instead you have to look at the eShop receipt found via purchase history for the code.
Given the constant tweets about the Shovel Knight theme here in Europe the eShop receipts thing is really unintuitive.
Hmm... Interesting? I didn't realize DLC was on the cards, I got this free for backing Might No. 9, and it was fun, albeit short... Maybe I'll get the DLC? I don't know yet. Cool though.
@ShadJV OMG!! I did not know they were sending those out! good thing I saw your comment or I never would have known I had a download coad for the game.
Hmmm..... I dont know how I feel about this. I'll wait some more.
Will snag when it's available. Enjoyed Mighty Gunvolt more than Azure Striker.
Yeah, I'm def still liking this more than Azure Striker.
@morphballer it was mentioned in one of the plethora of project update emails about development, a couple years ago. Understandable to miss, considering they send so many of those emails, I don't even bother reading most.
If the updates make the game slightly easier, I'm all for that as it's quite hard to get past more than like 2 levels :-
Ooh, sweet! I had a friend give me his extra code for the game, so I'm excited for more content in it now!
Seems pretty cool, and it's at a pretty good price too! Maybe if I have some extra cash I'll get the DLC, since Mighty Gunvolt was fairly short.
@rockodoodle It should be in your receipt in your Transaction History.
I wonder if any of this will actually even appear here.
Inafune's team only gave the free codes to the North American users to Mighty Gunvolt. Really pointless for the rest of the world's Kickstarter backers like me.
@rockodoodle
I found this to be an incredible hassle. Go back into the eShop and look for your receipt for downloading Azure Striker Gunvolt. The download code for Mighty Gunvolt is in that digital receipt.
On the one hand it seems obvious (that's how it works in retail), on the other hand, I was expecting an email or a code in my Club Nintendo account.
@Kolzig
I think you're missing something. This isn't for Mighty No. 9, this was an NES-style game that was offered free with a purchase of Azure Striker Gunvolt in the States. However, the game does star the protagonist from Mighty No. 9 as a playable option, but it is not actually Mighty No. 9, nor is it related to the Kickstarter.
As an aside, I found Mighty Gunvolt to be quite fun with its old school charm. I may grab this DLC since I got the main game for free.
I couldn't beat Mr. Happy in the all courses level in Galgun. I recently bought that game for PS3 as a Japan only import. I can't play as the angel character yet cause she's hard to unlock. Galgun is also a M rated anime shooter if anyone doesn't know. I like the first stage of mighty gunvolt which was based on Galgun and mixed in a few characters and boss from it. I can't wait for the DLC.
