2017 is the 30th Anniversary of the Mega Man franchise. Now, admittedly, the 25th Anniversary was a tad rubbish for those of us that like to play games - Capcom released figurines, USB sticks and tissue dispensers, but the only game we got was a free fan-game on PC. Oh, Capcom...
Will 2017 finally bring the series back? We can only hope so, but Capcom has decided to start the Anniversary build-up remarkably early by announcing that there'll be a new Mega Man cartoon that year. The creative force behind it will be Man Of Action Entertainment, which is credited with creating and working on franchises such as Ben 10 and Big Hero 6.
Of course, Mega Man had a TV show back in the '90s, back when the mascot also had multiple iconic games to promote the brand. We're intrigued to see how the 26 episode run will come together, but even more interested to see whether it'll be just one part of Anniversary celebrations that could include - whisper it - a game or two.
Time will tell, but in the meantime you can warm up with the intro to the previous series below.
All together now - Super Fighting Robot... MEGA MAN!

I don't expect the series to come back. I really don't.
Right in the hope spot... ouch.
2017: Capcom announces cancellation of Megaman cartoon series due to lack of fan interest
Super fighting robot! Mega Man!

Well let's hope Dr. Light doesn't forget Mega Man's name mid-sentence and can pronounce Dr. Wiley correctly.
This better turn out to be awesome.
Man of Action is promising, they're responsible for the original Ben 10 series, Generator Rex and even Big Hero 6.
First Pac Man, then Sonic, now Mega Man... at this rate, we'll probably see a new Mario cartoon soon.
This won´t happen, mark my words, Capcom doesn´t give a sh*t about Rockman fans anymore. I mean, if they couldn´t deliver Rockman to appear on Marvel vs Capcom 3 and they also cancelled Rockman Legends 3, not to mention a sh*tty 25th anniversary, I won´t even bother fo expect anything Rockman-related from them anymore.
Not to play the part of the parrot here, but i just cant help it:
Cancellation: 2017
Reason: Lack of interest
Reaction: Huge outcry of fans
Answer: Fans should have begged more
I wont hold my breath even for seconds when it comes to capcom.
Cartoons are expansinve, and the last thing they did with this IP was to celebrate its 25 anniversary with a smartphone game, that was replicated in flash in about an hour after it was announced.
And it was so "well recieved" that they canceled all plans to bring it to the west due to fan backlash.
Its probably the first time in gaming history, that a game didnt get a worldwide release because people outright stated it, that they wouldnt even touch it with gloves.
Oh, and not to mention the fact that its already defunct in japan due to "a lack of interest"
Burn in robot hell Capcom, you piece of scrap metal.
And my best guess why they are suddenly putting out a Megaman show is, that they can justify sitting on the IP instead of selling it to companies, who would actually work with it and turn it into a money printer again...you know, like it always has been...
It's Capcom, hard to have any faith for this.
2017? Yeah, that's a no...
Please, oh, please be good...
Seems odd they'd go ahead with a cartoon when there are no new games for it to promote and sell.
Maybe this'll be like the Sonic Boom deal where there were games to promote the TV Cartoon.....only you know, actual time to make a good game for it.
Hopefully it's the first of many Mega Man announcements.
Man of Action...I know them from the back of my head already as they make some purdy gud toons from what I've seen. The Ben 10s (especially the original) and Generator Rex, one of them alone blowing away virtually anything on Cartoon Network nowadays, in my opinion. If this new Mega Man TV Show gets on the air, I'll be sure to jump on it.
@RupeeClock MoA even made Big Hero 6!? Dang, I seriously have to get around seeing that movie.
Well if they don't cancel it AND it doesn't turn out to be Mega Man Boom, it should be pretty great!
Please, please don't be cancelled.
I heard some people on Rockman Corner saying that this may be Capcom trying to reinstitute the Mega Man brand into relevance. Here's hoping it leads to more super fighting robots.
@RupeeClock Man of Action made Big Hero 6, huh? If I wasn't interested before, I am now. I remember Generator Rex being good too, but I was never interested in Ben 10.
Now that I think of it, does Man of Action have something for transforming heroes? Rex, Ben, with Big Hero 6, not so much, but now Mega Man? Interesting.
I smell a cancelation...
Oh the greatness of the megaman show!!
Man, Capcom really did sever some fan relationships with Legends 3. Every time something Mega Man related is brought up, so is that. Not defending Capcom (what they did was dumb), but it's just something I noticed.
I was sold at "Man of Action".
Then I read the comments about cancellation and got my hopes up.
While I want a new Mega Man game as much as anybody the reality is that the games if I understand it correctly simply stopped selling and unfortunately for us gamers Capcom is a business and they will do what they think is best for them, whether we like it or not. Not every series is destined to stay alive forever and it seems that Mega Man is one of them that isn't. This isn't good PR for longtime fans of Capcom though.
@TysonOfTime @#9
wow, they brought starforce over? we still don't even have a fan sub for all of beast + yet!
(megaman battle network 6 show, part2)
Man of action.....the ones behind the Ben 10 series......count me out!
Hopefully we'll see a Mega Man game by then but I'm not very hopeful.
Well, I wonder if this has anything to do with the Mighty No. 9 TV show being made?
Since when does Capcom give any kind of crap about Megaman? Didn't they murder and bury him like three years ago? Give us our MM Legends 3, you antique mustard koala, then maybe I'll listen. Anyway, when this is cancelled, I'll be there to see it. (PS. Isn't it insane looking back now that Capcom pulled out with MML3 thinking the 3DS wasn't going to be successful?? Idiots...)
@invictus4000 And also attempting to make fans eat part of their development costs with that paid "Prototype Version" demo crap. ::snickers:: Please. I've been over Crapcom so long I forgot they existed until I read this headline lol. Mighty No. 9 >> MML3, anyway: Inafune-san still won out in the long run!
I hope the hordes watch this show so there is a chance a game gets made. However I would expect quick and dirty phone games if anything. Aahh capcom you are a shadow of your former glory but i still love you;)
At least inti creates and comcept are here
@DarthNocturnal there was so much wrong with this:
Haha. But all in all, I thoroughly enjoyed Captain N as a kid!
Behold the superiour german intro to the 90s cartoon:

Wether the series will be good or not, I guess it will be accompanied by cheap tie-in games. Like Sonic Boom and Pacman and the Ghostly adventures. Both series aren't that bad though.
Really hoping for the return of Kung Fu Cutman!!
"Hey guys lets do anything but make a new Mega Man game" XD
If the new animation is drawn with as high quality as that clip then it could be pretty sweet.
I'll be you any money it looks cheaper and worse than that however.
Oh noes. Mega Man is going to get the same treatment as Sonic Boom
The only real opening to the series is this:

i don't think this show will be canceled. Not because Capcom has any kind of newfound faith in the franchise or suddenly cares about it.
The only reason why Capcom is doing a Mega Man TV show is because they have seen Namco and Sega both strike gold with their recent TV shows based on Pac-man and Sonic.
Capcom sees the potental money to be made from a new Mega Man series, and they have decided to jump in. They are targeting the same audience of viewers that are eating up Sonic Boom and Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures and Mega Man is pretty much their only IP that could fit the bill.
Street Fighter is not really great material for a Kids show, Devil May Cry and Resident Evil are out of the question, and Monster Hunter is not yet mainstream outside Japan.
So, Mega Man gets the nod because it fits the same demographics that watch Sonic and Pac-Man's newest shows.
One good thing about this that we might see some Mega Man games again if the show really takes off. Sonic and Pac-Man have both gotten games based on their recent TV shows, and Capcom will likely follow suit.
Although it will likely be a vdeo game based on this new show. Which still, is better then the heaping plate of nothing Mega Man has been getting since 2010.
@Zapkido They also did the Avengers cartoon as well as The Boondocks. Oh! And G.I. Joe Renegades, which was awesome!
It's about time mega man returned to the TV screen. With a BOOM! http://i3.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/000/725/873/068.png
Too bad that I saw it already with subs. I find it sad that Captain N was so off with everything they tried to show, just like the Super Mario and Legend of Zelda shows. Even Super Mario World was not really a hit for me and better not talk about what they did with Kirby; I never understood why they included Tiff and Tuff, they never fit in in my eyes and stole the show away from Kirby.
i sure hope megaman tv series is true because if not, i will blamed capcom with all the angry megaman fan
@Kirby_Fan_DL3
"We're sorry about amiibo shortages, so as an apology we are giving you a new Mario cartoon that will be sourced out to France, like Sonic Boom, be aired in the 7 am dead man's slot after one of the worst shows ever made, like Sonic Boom, not be advertised at all, like Sonic Boom, not have an iTunes release at all, like Sonic Boom, and be associated with a crappy horrible Mario game that is being made by a developer who is making their first game, like Sonic Boom. Please understand."
Mega Man Boom?
If it will happen, this is the cycle. A picture of their silhouettes are posted on social networks, then Proto Man takes Steriods, then we get a trailer for a game that looks decent, then we get a horrible game from a legendary developer, then the show is decent.
Nooo!... if "Man of action" is in charge... then I don't like the idea...
1. I wish and miss when Cartoon animations was aired early in the morning. Nothing like waking up to "Sailor Moon", "Dragon Ball", and others as well.
2. Mario, Sonic, Megaman, DK all had nice animations and cartoons and I wish for goodness.
3. The Ruby Spheres, MM animation was great and THANK GOD they made them realistically sized and not representative size. You know what was also auwsom-o???
the fact that MM, and Roll remained shorter then Dr. Right and Dr. Willy. Even if they are dramatically taller. But that is because Megaman takes place in the East Coast of the United States.
So Ruby Spheres Megaman works out.
If Capcom makes another Megaman cartoon or animation I just wish it would be simple and innocent like Dragon Balls was before they got older ( or stop looking like Tomatoe Comics ).
Interesting, yet I wonder if it will turn out for good?
