I wonder if @KateGray would've delayed her departure from NL by a few days if she'd known the Nintendo Direct was coming the same week. Or maybe she did know, and she exited right before so that she'd have more time to play the games that dropped after the Direct. Not that she owes us an explanation, of course. In any case, this was another good read.
Very sad that @KateGray is leaving Nintendo Life. Her writing is one of more prominent reasons why I started frequenting this site. No one comes up with article subheadings like she does. Best wishes on your next stop, and hope to read more of your stuff.
I get why they didn't name Aaron Judge as the cover athlete (he was on the cover for the 2018 game), but why'd they go with someone who missed over half the season? Dude wasn't even the best player on his own team.
Wouldn't mind seeing GF laying off Kanto for a while; that generation has had two remakes, plus I'm tired of Charizard being shoved in my face. (Did you know Leon has one?)
Pokémon Legends: Johto, with Celebi bringing you back in time to prevent the Brass Tower from burning down and killing Raikou, Entei, and Suicune. The twist is that you fail anyway because it turned out to be arson, then you'd have to help Ho-Oh revive the trio while finding out who's responsible. There, Game Freak, you can have that one for free.
Dark chocolate all day. It's healthier than milk chocolate. White chocolate isn't even real chocolate, what is this blasphemy. The real winner, of course, is Team Dentistry.
The marathon challenge (999 lines) in Tetris 99. When I finally completed it, I had played it non-stop for over an hour, and my eyeballs were dessicated.
@johnedwin The thing is, a Switch is not a personal computer. Generally, people get them for different uses, so they're not wholly comparable. BTW, I do my computing on a 2012 Mac Mini, which is still fine for my purposes. I don't use it for gaming, of course, because that's what my Switch is for.
@KateGray Are you low-key dropping hints for your partner?
But seriously, if you're concerned about your future engagement ring snagging your knit sweaters, you can wear it on a chain around your neck. I have a friend who does that because she's allergic to rings on her fingers.
"Or defeating Ganon, saving Zelda, and discovering that she used the very last of her power and life to bring you there and save Hyrule, fulfilling both your destinies... and, of course, it turns out that Link's life was tied to hers, too, and they both perish on the floor of Hyrule Castle, satisfied that their journeys came to an end, together."

@Skunkfish What would blow people's minds is if Tara Reid actually plays ScarVi. Why, she could even be incognito here on Nintendo Life. (Spoiler: I am not Tara Reid.)
@Ironcore My point was that Game Freak can feel like they can get away with that kind of shenanigans because it's Pokémon. Developers working with other IP don't have that kind of leeway.
@Ironcore Game Freak has a massive advantage with the IP, though. Fair or not, if other developers think they can approach GF's success by imitating its more questionable practices, they'll get some very bad news.
Here in the States (Minnesota, at least), mixed greens are sold by the pound in plastic tubs, which are the perfect size for marinating a whole duck. After you eat the greens, of course.
You can use toothpicks to close up the duck as the recipe mentions, but using a trussing needle and kitchen twine to sew up the duck works even better. Then again, if you've cooked turkey perhaps you've used that already.
@KateGray If you don't have antipathy toward duck, I'd recommend having that instead of turkey one of these years. I make that for Thanksgiving here in the States, because it's juicier than turkey, and it's really easy to make (slow and low — 7 hours at 250 F — will get you duck that falls off the bone).
Awesome! Just in time for my recently-acquired Hori Hayabusa arcade fight stick. (Not like I'll start giving beatdowns or anything, because I'm terrible at fighting games, but it'll still be fun.)
My top 5 (days / hours): 5. Rocket League (66 / 48) 4. Dicey Dungeons (32 / 60) 3. FE: Three Houses (20 / 76) 2. Slay the Spire (19 / 80) 1. Pokémon Legends: Arceus (126 / 374)
There's Arceus, and then there's everything else. It's remarkable that Slay the Spire and Dicey Dungeons were that engaging, going by average time per session. Not really surprising, though, as those are fantastic games.
@Paraka I also don't get the notion that Arms was a "failure", especially when it has outsold Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (released six months later), Octopath Traveler (released 11 months later), and Mario+Rabbids Kingdom Battle (released one month later, with Ubisoft seemingly spamming every other month with sales). Maybe if development costs were so high that the 2.66 million sold units don't represent a good ROI, but I'd guess XC2 and Octopath cost more to make, and no one's describing them as failures.
@SpeedRunRocks And how would you know about their financial situation? Even if they make more money than any of the commenters here, so what? What they spend their time and money on has nothing to do with you.
On the American TV series "How I Met Your Mother", a character suggests a seduction technique wherein one just appears nekkid before the target of their attentions with no hints of their disrobing, and assesses its chance of success as "two-thirds of the time, it works every time". Going by Bob's expression, he must feel confident about his prospects.
@Vil No offense taken on my part, and I'm sorry that you had a rough day. I don't think people meant to pile on you personally, it's just that it was suboptimal phrasing that was easy to counter.
@Vil Other 1st-party games since Three Houses came out in July 2019 that you've overlooked:
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Luigi's Mansion 3
Kirby and the Forgotten Land
WarioWare: Get It Together
Metroid Dread
It's fine if you don't like Fire Emblem, Xenoblade, or Pokémon, but it takes a mighty selective memory to think that Nintendo hasn't published other "absolute bangers".
I'm constantly correcting my housemates' suboptimal loading of the dishwasher. No, Heather, you shouldn't place the plastic takeout containers in the bottom rack because they'll be warped by the hot water. And spread out your forks across the whole utensil rack instead of jamming them all in the front section, FFS.
@Chocobo_Shepherd Looking at the second trailer, it looks like oral intimacy is a power-up mechanic of some sort. Which reminds me of the anime "Simoun", wherein female fighter pilots start their aircraft by making out with each other. (No, really.)
