@Razer Nintendo can't reduce digital costs without reducing physical costs. Relationships between publishers and retailers will be damaged if digital pricing is less than physical RRP which is why digital always costs the same or more than physical
Also I'm tired of people saying that games on the switch somehow get a pass to be 3 times more expensive than their counterparts just "because its portable" its ridiculous
Having a good wired pad is always great. If smash for switch comes out then this may be the best option as a controller (wired controllers are much easier than wireless at tournaments). I'll still be hoping for gamecube adaptor support but at least there is a good alternative now
I think a lot of the smash community get frustrated that despite smash games getting vast amounts more viewership for streams and a lot more entrants in tournaments, they always have much lower prizes than other fighting games because Nintendo doesn't support the game.
It's also worth noting that in most fighting games (so arms and pokken will follow this, and smash already does) the tournaments will be open to anyone and everyone, not just pros. Despite this I highly doubt seeing Nintendo support the scenes for these games to any notable extent apart from running some strange tournaments with abstract rules and layouts
This is the most generous give away prize I've seen, even bigger than when it's big brand giving away a switch so kudos and thanks the the reader whos giving them away
@ThomasBW84 Might be worth mentioning Smash the Record 2016, charity stream playing fun and competetive smash melee, wiiu, brawl and 64. Happening right now Current WiiU stream https://www.twitch.tv/vgbootcamp2 Current melee stream https://www.twitch.tv/vgbootcamp

@HappyMaskedGuy Pretty sure they kill the animals to make money. Think how many animals dies while Europe and the USA became the 1st world areas they are now, until we provide Africa with a solution to their poverty we can hardly complain that some of their people are trying to make a living.
@Spooj mewtwo buffs? why/ he has had 3 major buffs and is now top 15 at least, maybe top 10.
I'd like bayos side b in the air have a little more lag if it doesn't connect. apart from that there are a load of low tiers who could do with buffs and its likely to be a raffle who gets some, im personally holding out for a duck hunt duo buff.
@happylittlepigs Yeah, there might be some friendly setups but otherwise you normally talk and wait for your next game during pools (pools is where everyone is playing tournament games) then after that setups can be used for friendlies. Usually 4 or 3 people will chat and play rotation at a friendly setup.
@happylittlepigs in a local, you only need 1/4 setups as people
EDIT: having gone to many smash (melee and WiiU) and MvC3 (marvel) tournaments, its rare that there are 1/3 as many setups as people and 1/4 is the norm.
my worry is that the game doesnt feel competetive enough to me, but i guess it might just feel to slow for me.
it looks amazing, but it is a little underpowered. It might still struggle with games like conkers bad fur day. In the end my phone has more power and the moga pro bluetooth controller does the job just fine.
@ShanaUnite well the guy must be a lot more intellegent than you think he is, he has started work on a wii u emulator. do people realise how strange the wii u architecture is?
Here's the deal, im involved in competetive smash (currently ranked top 100 UK so not amazing but okay) i have two friends who always visit me to play smash WiiU, but they dont have a WiiU despite playing at tournaments, why?
because the WiiU is too expensive.
For them to invest in a console for just a couple games (they arent interested in most nintendo stuff) is just too much money.
Maybe if there was a bundle with an GCadaptor smash and a wiiU 8gb for under £200 they would get a WiiU but currently the WiiU isnt worth it unless you are invested in Nintendo IP's
@dronesplitter True, when the gamecube era came about a large amount of the talent in Rare left, pretty much all of the goldeneye/perfect dark team left to form free radical games (creators of timesplitters).
contrary to popular belief, microsoft actually gave Rare free reign most of the time, but nothing they made sold, so then microsoft stepped in and made them make kinect sports, we still have the great viva pinata games from the rare-microsoft era. as well as that, hopefully a new era of rare will start with Sea Of Theives (xbone+PC) which looks amazing.
$1 million? thats insane for a game that has terrible balance!!! smash bros hardly picks up a $30,000 prize pool, and tournamens have been happening for melee for 14 years!!! this game doesn't even have LAN, dont get me wrong, its a good game, but it doesnt have the competetive depth that CS:GO, SSF, SSB or LOL has...
Phones these days are more powerful than the 3ds, by a very long way, also, keep in mind games like warioware touched that used exclusively touch controls, phone games can be good
also, this requires you to have a decent PC (heroes of the storm and smite), a PS4 or Xbone (destiny and Fifa) and a WiiU for smash, people dont have that money!!
@Kaze_Memaryu people used to say that about the Wii controls, and the power, but Nintendo still made great games like Skyward Sword, that used the controls well, and also looked amazing
@Achoo well, i wasn't from the Rare era, the first console i played was a GameCube, i have just played rare games on emulators. Its your opinion i guess, but you cant say battletoads wasn't amazing just because you dont like the genre, the game is still an outstanding brawler, i personally prefer Diddy Kong racing to the MK series, and i think it is a poor perspective to just expect every kart racer to have the same control style as MK, the controls are meant to be different. @amiiboacid the PS4's thumbsticks are decent, WiiU's arent too far behind but the XBones feel like dirt. The gamecube controller though...mmm...
Re: Editorial: A Wii U Price Cut is Still Worthwhile Despite Its Ongoing Woes
@amiiboacid gamepad is still terrible for games that require a lot of input. And the thumbstick feels nice, but is still not great for actual gameplay
