Re: Nintendo Comments On How It's Handling Joy-Con Drift

VmprHntrD

@WiltonRoots finally someone rational that gets it. We need real information now click bait fuzzy news and loud trolls who gang up with a mix of real and stuffed stories. Is this 1%, 5%, 10% or more? Is some of this in warranty typical lemons mixed in or a real true 1in4 issue or something truly bad. We should demand video game media accountability to research this and not just more shock and fluff pieces.

Re: PSA: Make Sure You're Buying The Right Mega Drive Mini This Holiday Season

VmprHntrD

Yeah definitely, buy the 2018 ATGames MD/Genesis Flashback. It has a better emulation core without the audio lag. With a free firmware update you can not only run real carts, and what's inside, but you can side load more Gen/MD games via an SD card.

There's no reason to be faked out buying the latest device from Sega or the buggier android or the dumpster fire pre-android AT Games devices.

This is the truth, don't take what this site says at face value I'd done my research, DF Retro has, and other credible sources.

Re: Introducing The Virtual Boo, Professor E. Gadd's New Communication Device In Luigi's Mansion 3

VmprHntrD

As weird as it may seem I'm more compelled to want this game than I was before reading this.

I have the 1st (both releases), had the 2nd but dumped it as the design kind of sucked and bored me. But this one I know is more a mix of the two but more smartly handled supposedly like the original. So throw in the big nod to the Virtual Boy and I'm amused.

I've got the full US set and then some for the VB, so yeah a fan.

Re: This Super Mario Bros. Fan Game Will Fire Up Your Super Show Nostalgia

VmprHntrD

@nessisonett Well the appeared to have blatantly ignored the Metroid 2 AMR game because that guy worked on it for years, put a countdown clock, released it, and then they fired a letter day or so after the fact and only indirectly. It wasn't until the game was bugfixed they wrote the guy directly so kill the project so there's hope. They're not like Square-Enix that watched that Chrono game made for years then C&D'd it days before it arrived pissing off a lot of fans.

Re: Metacritic Review-Bombers Strike Again With FIFA 20 On Switch

VmprHntrD

Whatever, let's face facts, look at the reviews so far it got from the so called pros. They're verbally just as miserable and scathing if not worse as it's not done immaturely or to make an anti-EA statement. The game is a rehashed dumpster fire masquerading as a new update and somehow better which is a lie.

Re: Pilotwings - 16-bit Flight Simulation, The Nintendo Way

VmprHntrD

Knocking the hidden end game after the fact combat stages seems to be a bit cheap and petty to me. If that knocked it from a 8 to a 7 that's kind of a poor move. The game, especially yet not as a reason, being a launch title offered quite a bit and it leaves a lot of fun repetition to get that better to perfect score. Lots of stages and much to do and the hidden variety in there as well. This is a great go-to like F-Zero if you just grab a couple quick to enjoy things to bang away at as like a 3DS or Switch download on the go.

Re: Poll: Is Your Switch Lite Suffering From Joy-Con Drift?

VmprHntrD

Nintentroll Life seriously? If anyone is getting drift already it's a lemon out of the box. Got to love your clickbait over the overblown drift on used systems. Ever wonder if a good bit of the issue is the environmental conditions or player usage that causes it? I guess that wouldn't make a headline right?

Re: Hardware Review: The Genesis / Mega Drive Mini Finally Does Sega's History Justice

VmprHntrD

@Atariboy Good on you bringing it up. Convenient everyone and the site are ganging up on atgames ignoring this solitary final release of their Sega systems, the only time they ever got it basically entirely correct. Going with Genesis GX Plus and including firmware updates on their site, and that first one adding their handheld tradition of loading any game ROM you want, that's huge. You here have a cheaper system that runs a large staple of games, plus takes real carts, plus takes ROMs through SD card support. And somehow that gets ignored and lumped into over 10 years worth of firecore turdboxes and Sega gets all the love for so called showing them up. ATGames did too much, too late, definitely not too little, and odds are unless the emulation is somehow better by M2(very doubtful) to make a difference Sega has the worse package as it's game limited. 2018 Genesis GX Plus ATGames console can do whatever Sega does in later 2019, and far more for less money. Sorry but I see no value in this box from Sega unless it gets hacked considering the other does it all and better out of the box.

Re: Random: Don't Worry, Nintendo Switch's 'X' Button Is Still Called 'X'

VmprHntrD

Since when has this ever been a thing? Let's look back into history 25 years ago about when the PSX as it was called then (PS1) came out.

Sony aped the crap out of Nintendo after being cut off by them after they tried to rip off Nintendo making the CD system games profits entirely go to Sony by contract. Sony pissed, takes their NIntendo Playstation and converts it into the stand alone Sony Playstation more or less. The first thing they do is keep the SNES controller design around, add a couple L/R buttons and a different form factor. They can't use BAYX anymore as Nintendo has a lock, so they can't call it that, so they go with those crazy shapes instead of a flip like MS did years later. You can't call it X so cross works, they kept the angle, perhaps a plus sign would have been fine too, but whatever.

Nintendo already had pounded into gamers what and where the X button was and called it that since 1990/91, even Sega going 6 button used X Y and Z again calling it X. So it's history, everyone calls it X other than Sony people, sony fanboys who started there, and probably few others. It just makes sense. It's wrong sure, to 9 out of 10 gamers, but it's Sony's call, their hardware and on their hardware they're right.

Re: Review: Torchlight II - A Brilliant Dungeon-Crawler Expertly Ported By Panic Button

VmprHntrD

I've got this and the prequel on PC through GoG. This game is simply stunning as is the prequel.

The designers of the game were ex-Blizzard employees, many that were the key players in the design of the earlier Diablo games (not 3) so it has that same general style and play mechanics of the great Diablo 2. Think of it in a way as the true spiritual sequel to Diablo 2 since there is a pretty good pile (I don't quite get it) of haters of D3 online.

Re: Soapbox: Mario Kart Tour Looks Lousy With F2P Trappings, But That’s All Right

VmprHntrD

@Discipledoctor I don’t get the troll who thumbed you down. You’re right. I’ve played Dragalia Lost since day one and my character and card grabs have been too generous compared to the typical scumbag tactics around the gacha system they use. So many give away tickets and items that can also charge up a pull around a consistently running event or two. The story works in that part so well it’s insulting if anything why they don’t make a full adventure game out of it it plays that well. So much to see, do, learn, level and explore and it’s defacto free. Paying truly is a choice of generosity or impatience.

Re: Sega Recreates Classic "Genesis Does What Nintendon't" Ad To Promote Mega Drive Mini

VmprHntrD

I cringed hearing about the ad, and watching it until it stopped. 30 years ago about that arrogant lie campaign they ran ticked me off. I have no respect for a company or product, whoever it is (think Pepsi too) who can't sell their greatness alone so they have to dump on a competitor with lies and smoke & mirrors tactics.

Thankfully this ad is quite nice, even if it's an obvious throwback, they didn't cross the line into lies to pitch it so it was really good to see and hear that classic jingle made better. Had they crossed the line again, well yeah.

Re: Anniversary: Game Boy Turns 30 Years Old In North America

VmprHntrD

Thanks to the bad days of the later 90s for Nintendo, Gameboy became not only my system of choice for the most buys/plays, but it also made me care even more about handheld gaming than console too. As it stands today I own at least one of every primary model of system, even the GB Light from Japan. I've had one since Christmas of 1989 and have used the GB line on and off (far more on than off) since.

It may have always been basic, underpowered, an 8bit dinky thing against what else was on the market, but it sold on that value too as it lasted, was cheap, and had a heap of variety for any group.

Re: This Might Be The Actual File Size For The Spyro Reignited Trilogy On Switch

VmprHntrD

I was interested, but if this is the case knowing it could have easily fit on a card but they took the low road after this much of a delayed release, forget it. It's not like I don't have a PSOne+LCD combo so the option is there. It's insulting to any system owner they did it when you see the Crash bundle fit on one piece of media making this a pure control freak/cheap skate stunt.

Re: Two More Classic Star Wars Games Get A Limited Run Later This Week

VmprHntrD

That EON device is a super scam, better off with the hyperkin for similar or better results which says a lot since most their stuff blows, but if you're going to piss $150, get the UltraHDMI update to really see a difference. I really wish this site and a few others would stop sucking up to those overpricing clowns.

Re: Hardware Review: The EON Super 64 Gives Your N64 HDMI Output, But Is It Really Worth $150?

VmprHntrD

If you're going to pay that much, better of just getting the UltraHDMI for a true set of video and audio choices to exploit with a true clearly glaringly obvious boost in quality of the games. That mod makes the system really shine much like N64 on PC emulation, but this EON (yet again for the) overpriced kit does a minimal job for too much dough. As other said, hyperkin typically known for trash, put a quality enough cord out that can do this for a fraction of the price.

Re: Poll: Have Your Joy-Con Been Drifting?

VmprHntrD

I'm sure after all the vocal minority going nuts over this, a poll like this isn't going to just suck in all the cranks and attention seekers with a few legit cases to skew the graph. Nah, must be real. hah

Re: EA CEO Defends Microtransactions, Says It’s "Actually Possible" To Do It Right

VmprHntrD

I was thinking angry, switched to laughing at the comment. They're not worth anger, just derision for their behavior. There really is a very limited way they can be done right, and EA will not do it, ever, too greedy. Nintendo did it, optional, truly, DLC after learning cutting out a piece of a game will backfire(Mario Golf 3DS, leaving 20% of it as an upsell higher than retail MSRP.) Look at Dragalia, Pokemon Go, Fire Emblem, even with that gatcha mechanic so so much free 'cash' is given you never need to spend, you spend in those games not even from pressure or dangling desperation, it's really setup as more of a tip or a thank you for the work. You can beat the game as well, just a little slower (not dramatically slower like 90% of them out there) by just playing. That's how you can do it right, unforced, optional, do it by making something so great people want to pay (donate) to the "free" game because they enjoyed the time. You can't cure stupid or impatience, but they don't prey on it either.

Re: It Looks Like The Final Japanese 3DS Title Has Been Canned

VmprHntrD

Ehh in the last 2 years I've got 4 games, 2 of them were new and one of them I dumped as it was a re-release and bored me. I just got one for the first time this year the other day Luigi's Mansion and it's amazing. The system has life, even in death it has life as the monster has a big library and an even bigger DS library to tickle too. At some point a couple years back I dumped some games I kind of wish I hadn't, so maybe now is the time to scrape up some gems stupid cheap since people will jump on the dump your old crap bandwagon which kills prices.

Re: Review: Collection of Mana - Expensive, But Ultimately Worth Every Penny

VmprHntrD

Always been a fan but never jumped on the 20+year old bandwagon of using the translation patch for the third. I already own a complete boxed FFA(SD1) and I've got all but the box for SOM2 and the official guide as well, yet I still want this. I need to free some time/space knocking off some games, but I will grab this when it goes physical as that'll give me the space i need. And then the total retool/changed perspective play style of the 3D remaster of the third I'd dip on that too if I enjoy the original enough as I think I will.

Re: Nintendo Throws In A Surprise NES Game With This Week's Switch Online Update

VmprHntrD

@dalekman9999 Noooo, fanboys reported that. One data mining snoop last year went digging into the Nintendo Network and tagged a list of SNES games from them and a few From Konami and Capcom, but that's it. When asked Nintendo had nothing to say, and ever since the network popped up with NES games on Switch they've never said they were adding SNES at all.

Re: Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered Busts Onto Switch Later This Year

VmprHntrD

I had this on PS3 and have been strongly mulling over buying it again Steam in the next big price cut sale, but if this is going to Switch I'd rather pay up and have it on there.

This game is truly fantastic, perfect? No, none of them quite are right in that perspective, but, the game with that script, those actors, all the off the cuff humor, and the rest is a true Ghostbusters 3.

Re: Sonic The Hedgehog Movie Gets Its First Official Trailer, And It's Definitely Something

VmprHntrD

That looks so bad that it goes beyond so bad it's good into it should have been aborted and buried. Jim Carrey is a bad fit, and had has not been funny for over a decade turned into a deranged humorless activist. Sonic is a bit creepy really, could be worse, but there's so much wrong here outside of a pack of 5 year olds and the parents who could tolerate taking them to this I don't see it going well.

Re: NES And SNES Mini Are Still Big Sellers For Nintendo

VmprHntrD

Gameboy entirely. The N64 would be a single party box as much of anything else couldn’t get licensed or is tied up in some other form of limbo. GB+GBC in one unit with like 40 games would be best as you’d get a real taste and with so many titles it would be easy to feed it a truly full and excellent list.

Re: Looks Like There's A New LEGO Star Wars Game On The Way

VmprHntrD

If this was some general total package I'd think they'd need to have not just all 9 primary movies, but also some of those missing spaces in between like rogue one and clone wars that fill the gaps. Shadows of the Empire would be welcome but it's like stuck so not happening.

Re: Move Aside Netflix, Disney Wants To Bring Its Own Streaming Service To The Switch

VmprHntrD

We have all brought this upon ourselves. We allowed TV to get too big, to raise their prices on us so easily. Then we sat back when they acted like they gave us what they wanted with little packages from hulu, netflix, etc to give us the little things we want. But then it spread more and more, more break ups, more wanting their piece, and now you can pay even more than the nastier cable bills to get all you had before legally now. Fun isn't it?

Re: Video: Here's Your First Look At Mortal Kombat 11 Running On The Nintendo Switch

VmprHntrD

I question if the patch is really a patch at all, or they cheaped out and bought a 8GB memory space for the Switch card. Back when the system came out the 8GB card was on par for expenses with 1 blu-ray disc of the other guys when bought in the usual bulk amounts.

The game could clearly fit within a 32GB space which is offered, so this does not even fall into the nether realm of the Nintendo criminally stupid hold out on the 64GB cards that needs to happen at this point.
